Night vision is nearly useless for a civilian especially when you do not have any professional training with it. Having a nice SF light with 1,000 loomins is great but why not take a low light fundamental course or have a good bit of training in CQB? There’s plenty of great instructors out there that can teach this kind of stuff.

That being said, yes accumilating guns and then saying you’re a collector isn’t a good idea.

Technical specifications. Devil is in the details sort of thing. Is the BCG chrome lined? Is the barrel chrome lined? What's the twist rate, what's the type of steel the barrel is made out of? How is it made?

The M&P is a good rifle, but at the end of the day, it IS made out of cheaper parts. I doubt you're going to shoot it out, though. It's really solid for the price point, so yeah, make it comfy and shoot the shit out of it. If you DO manage to destroy the barrel and BCG, just swap them out.

There are differences but they aren't that major, mostly materials and machining processes. A rifle built by some normie with decent mixed pieces would probably fail before an M&P.

Because dumping a bunch of money into upgraded parts and accessories is a poor investment. You could pour 5k into some AR and you will never see that money again, it would be worth at most 2k on the used market. You could take that 5k and buy 10 different used guns. Assuming you got them at a fair price your investment will grow over time.

I counted all the men and woman in my immediate family, and then my extended family, and then my friends and so I bought enough guns to put into all of their hands because the real deal with survival is about numbers. And a bunch of people with base level semi auto rifles, some ammo carrying rigs, and some cheap handheld radios that let them talk/communicate within a few miles is way more practical than one guy with thousands of dollar rifle that has probably not gotten thousands of dollars worth of practice with it.
