There's not a locking lug in the place of the extractor and therefore there's less support there and it bends more, eventually the lugs next to the extractor, having had to do the job of not only one lug but also make up for the missing lug in the extractors place, break.

If that there metal would be a bit thicker the gun would be able to run a couple thousand rounds more, those couple thousand rounds might mean that the army doesn't need to get a new bolt so early and in the worst case scenario it might be the difference between life and death.
The gun breaking first in very specific places is not a sign of a good design, a good design breaks simultaneously in every single place. Similarly to how a good chain has no weak links.
