top meme

Just got home with a Wetback Mauser.

Nice

>buying corrosive surplus ammo for 40crp
>when you can buy new production non-corrosive ammo for the same price

Surplus ammo>New production desu since the surplus isn't lawyer loaded, still think that link is overpriced but still new production ammo tends to be weaker

>tfw no Mexican Mauser
Stop appropriating my culture!

nice

It has a nice crest.

I know it's good stuff, but have any .303 shooters used german MEN produced surp rounds?

I have. It shot straight and it was very clean ammo. I recommend it for any non reloaders, or any reloader who already has enough brass.

that shade of brown is aesthetic

Sweet. I'm not into reloading yet (Though it's just a lee hand loader away, got nowhere to set a bench up.) but I've also got forty rounds of Privy, apparently the rifle likes the soft points according to the previous owner. Should be getting out to shoot it the latter half of the month. Good to hear it's real clean ammo though. Bought a hundred rounds from SG on Monday and just got it today. I wish it was reloadable because of the bevel real mil stuff has, but it's surp I could find and I only spend 61 bucks on it in total for shipping. So, I'm happy.

*only spent.

What are some good lesser-known semi-autos from the mid 1940s to the mid 1970s?

bump

My patches always leave fucking bits behind when I swab out the barrels. Crisp and clean before, little flecks afterwards... Drives me nutty even though I know my barrel ain't dirty or has any issues with it.

Run a boresnake through it a few times.

I wonder if the Norks actually figured out how to make a reliable helical magazine of that size, or if it's just for show.

Don't have a .30 cal one at the moment. Plus it's just one little fucky thing that bugs me when I look at it more than anything else. As long as shit's shiny and oiled when I'm not shooting I know I'm fine.

I love that my Mosin has taken to oil so damned well though. Checked it for if it needed the barrel to be re oiled or anything else did. And I haven't done shit for about six months. After it was first out of the cosomoline I was having to go back and run through every week, and slowly up from there until now.

Anyone got tips for restoring pic related? It’s not drilled and tapped or anything, I just can’t find a stock for it.

Attached: D3861B24-9CDF-45F9-85C7-B9D6F3BD08D0.jpg (3916x625, 633K)

Uhh.... Search until you find the right stock?

is it a short rifle or a carbine? anyway, liberty tree and sarco both have carcano stocks, and possibly numrich.

bumping with 98k problems.
I remember someone else had an issue with the safety flag not going back to safe after putting it on fire. I have the problem on my 98k as well but my Vz 33 works fine.
I played with the 2 bolts, swapped part after part to test everything and I found that the firing pin is the culprit. On the 98k the base of the pin (pic related) is a bit worn so when the safety is released the spring sends the firing pin a bit deeper than it should, and then you can't move the safety back in position.
Getting a new one soon

Attached: original-Mauser-98-Firing-Pin.jpg (1600x361, 169K)

Got a roach Martin in 7.65 Mauser, kinda rusty, but I suspect it still works.

*Martini

So I picked up a No.1 Mk.III at a pawn shop for $225. Thought it was a pretty standard poo’d one but looking at the proofs it’s actually a commercial BSA No.1 Mk.III that must have got pressed into service and ended up in India . Of course the wrist and receiver BSA markings got linnished but the commercial crown over BM and .303 NITRO PROOF as well as the BSA emblem on the knox is still there. As well as no military proof marks.

Nice.

How much ought I pay for an M94 Carl Gustaf Swedish Mauser carbine (no bayonet lug) + 100 rounds of 6.5x55? There's one up for auction that's caught my eye. If I win it, it will be my first proper Mauser ('03A3 don't real).

First off, is it a real one or a fake? If real, it's around $800 to $1,000. If fake, it's around $400.

From the photos, it's got all the right features, but I haven't seen it in person. It's got a 1904 receiver date, and the serial number falls in the right range.

You need to go full autismo and strip it entirely. A legit one will have matching numbers marked inside the wooden pieces along with some specific numbering on each part.

I ought to. There's a very real chance I can get it for $400.00 or less as-is. The same auction has a really nice Spanish Civil War 91/30 that I'm definitely leaving with, but the Mauser would probably be a nicer addition.

Help me guys I think I have an addiction.

Attached: Gew 98 profile.jpg (3500x940, 895K)

I'm buying surp an a vastly increasing rate. I need to cut myself off for a while.

Attached: Gew 98 crest.jpg (2000x3000, 957K)

Was the magazine switch on 1903 springys a benefit or a liability?

I'm leaning on the liability side, imagining trenchfags trying to cycle the bolt with the mag shut off and leave the bolt to the rear while they flip the switch and accidentally dropping their bolt in the mud

Found a fix for that problem. Spent all my money on guns and ammo and now I have to spend the rest of the month eating cheap frozen food

Nice.

It's an unnecessary complication, but I doubt many guys were using the magazine cutoff by 1917. In the admittedly limited film I've seen of doughboys shooting 1903s in France I haven't seen any single-loading.

Attached: WW1_service_rifles_10-31-2018_A.jpg (1600x1039, 1.45M)

We all do.

Attached: received_336140730478049.jpg (640x463, 106K)

US military doctrine didn't really detail much in the way of magazine cutoff usage in WW1. A lot of countries that had rifles with magazine cutoffs actually hardly had them ordered as used.

Yeah I couldn't find any reliable info on any actual issues arising from their presence, but I refuse to believe that giving country boys rifles with a switch that could stop their gun from shooting, ESPECIALLY after its doctrine was basically ignored and possibly not taught, didn't cause any issues

Picking up an Enfield No2 Mk1* today. I bought some PPU .38 S&W, anybody know of any sources for the original .38/200 they used?

I'm up to 20 surp now. I think I'm doing good for my age.

Attached: Surp Family Rifles.jpg (3000x2000, 3.13M)

The doctrine wasn't used. That wasn't mean it wasn't instilled in Boot camp. You DON'T Give a man a gun and at least not teach him what all the fiddly bits do. Especially since the switch also is used for disassembly/cleaning.

20 is good for any age.

WAfag here. What semi auto surps should I go for before the libs deem me mentally unfit to buy more assault rifles?

Yugo/russian SKS, FN49, Hakim, Rasheed, Ljungman, are a few options.

How do I unhook the rear sling mount and transfer it to the trigger guard?

Attached: Gew 98 profile2.jpg (3500x967, 895K)

I have ascended.

Attached: 2018 11 10.jpg (4656x2218, 3.29M)

>have SKS with really ass awful trigger
>friend feels this trigger
>notifies me my trigger is shit, but being the good friend he is, he shall fix it
>disassembles trigger and rubs some piece on a bunch of different sandpapers
>suddenly trigger is miraculously good and now has a nice clean break with a short pull
Fucking sandpaper how does it work?

Whichever ones you want. I chose pic related.

Magic.

Attached: USA - M1 carbine.jpg (2560x1440, 1.11M)

I picked up what appears to be a refinished 1941 Poo-Enfield. The bayonet came with it and is apparently the uncommon Number I Mk II**, sadly it came without a sheath. Sling is wrong, but came with the rifle, also got an ammo pouch with about 20 rounds on stripper clips.

I paid $350.

Attached: 20181110_155339.jpg (2560x1440, 1013K)

Switch to beans and rice and buy more 'surp. Just not the one's I'm trying to buy.

I got my wheelyboi about an hour ago. Just waiting on my anemic .38 S&W to get here so I can shoot it.

Attached: DSC_0307.jpg (3872x2592, 2.21M)

>I paid $350.
where?

Without changing out the stock, could the spike bayonet be swapped out for a blade bayonet?

Attached: M21 SKS.jpg (3529x2337, 2.31M)

Can you fags recommend a good surplus pack with lots of webbing? My current camping/hiking pack is great but I am thinking I could use something with a little more webbing. I like proper compartmentalization when I go /out/ and I grow a fat rubbery one for big pouches.

No.

Nope. It requires an entirely different stock and a different metal piece on the end that holds the stock. Blades are inferior to the poking power of the pig sticker anyway.

Went to my LGS todat and saw some surp at prices that would horrify y'all. The two on the left were counterbored, all three are round receiver 91/30s.

Attached: 20181110_133150.jpg (4032x1960, 2.19M)

Also saw a Ljungman, how much do they normally go for?

Attached: 20181110_135310.jpg (4032x1960, 2.14M)

Ah thats a shame. I always liked the look of the blade style bayonet. With that said, is the end of my bayonet supposed to basically be a flat head screwdriver, or was this filed down for some sort of import compliance bs?

Pic related is the price.

Attached: 20181110_135302.jpg (4032x1960, 1.76M)

>6.5 Swiss

That's how it's supposed to be. Makes a very nasty wound, and is a pretty handy screwdriver if necessary.

On gunbroker it looks like theyve been selling between $1,200 and $1,750 depending on condition. If its matching and in decent condition, they might not have it priced TOO far off, but Id see if they'd haggle on it, as its priced on the higher end.

Anyone had a mauser be very stiff to switch from fire to half safe? Just got a turkish mauser and was wondering if this is normal or not.

Fun show. At another one I got a Czech Vz. 24 with lion crest for $450, but I don't have it yet because I'm having him ship it so the Oregon State Police can't fuck me.

Should have added "You can literally lose your fingers if you fuck with this."

I have a few Mausers and they vary considerably in my experience.

thanks friend

>semi auto surps

You sure? Pretty sure that anything with a detachable mag is getting ganked.

sup WA bros. took mine out for a spin today. only 5 FTFs out of 2 15rd mags.

how are people this uninformed?

all of those things but it says IN THE WRITING OF THE LAW that such weapons deemed antiques are exempt from the definition.
HOWEVER, current laws thanks to 594 also still have the restrictions on anything center fire regardless of whether or not its an antique.

"antiques" escape the assault rifle definition but do not escape the private sales BS

Antiques are pre 1898, not C&R. Antiques literally aren't legally considered firearms. Most milsurp is.

Attached: USA - 1868 Trapdoor Springfield.jpg (3997x721, 1.8M)

Well been away from here for a bit so an update on the colection. Over the past two months I picked up a;

Remington M1903A3

No.4 Mk I* Long Branch [1944] matching number/ mixed wood

Swedish Mauser M96/38; matching number

Mauser 71/84 98% matching number [bands missmatched but go figure original matching screws]. Its missing the tube spring and follower. Got a source for the spring but still looking for a follower. If anyone has a lead I would be appreciative, numrich/sarco/liberty tree/other known = no dice.

I need a non shit Gew 98. There is no problem, surp is proof God loves us.

The majority of the AEF used the M1917 in Europe (no cut-off). Also uneducated =/= dumb (in the classical sense of the time). For me its hard to fantom droping your bolt after all the drilling and yelling pounded into them.

I'm at 15 but thats mostly purchases over the last 12 months. I wish I started this 20 years ago when I was tacticool rather than oldschool.

Attached: New Nov.jpg (949x1487, 344K)

Is this user dumb enough to think than an SKS is an "antique"?

>I'm at 15 but thats mostly purchases over the last 12 months.

I'm at about 40 in the last 2 years. I feel the same way.

Attached: AUS - M95.jpg (3006x433, 876K)

The exemptions for fixed magazine weapons apply to the age restriction, maybe the waiting period. But they aren't as restricted as everything else. So, basically aside from the 25 buck 'gun tax' come June, getting an SKS or the like isn't going to be hard even after the first of the year... I swear if this thing stays we're gonna have a specialty market for stripper clip fed AK's and AR's here in WA like CA's got on shitty slapped together 'thumb hole' stocks.

You are sorely mistaken on the provisions of I-1639. It applies to all semi-automatic firearms, regardless of configuration. The only exemption is for "antiques" (i.e. guns made before 1899). There is nothing about fixed magazines in the text of the law.

I swear I read something about fixed magazines in it in the voters guide.

You didn't. You posted that a few days ago, and I re read it. It's all semis.

Been known to be wrong though. Fuck it. As much as I don't want to have to deal with all the bullshit that comes with it, my other dream gun is prohibitively expensive and I'd need special permissions to own here in state anyways.

[Got a short M95, need a longboy M95]

I could have more but I have certain criteria that surp needs to fill before I buy. I've been in a bit of a drought time (want to avoid auctions). so I've been defaulting to US surp were the prices in burgerland are overinflated a bit. For the price of one US surp I could have bought 2 other surp.
