WWI weapons

Post your weapons from the Great War. It may have ended a hundred years ago but some of the tools live on.

That’s it for me unless I dig out the bayonets.

1918 with original finish and 1-18 Barrel, has canadian property mark and was one of 40k or so sent to canada during WW2.

It did have some specks of red paint on the front of the handguards which would have designated it 30-06 caliber vs .303.

original ammo.

what was the inspiration for the p14 bolts when everyone else was going curved and straight?

My guess would be it put the knob in the same location relative to the grip as the Enfields it would be replacing. That way the motor skills developed on the older models would still translate.

Oh yeah, forgot the history. It was an early production Winchester that was marked by the Canadian Officer Training Corps, plus the red paint, and than after WW2 was modified by Denmark for their service. Imported back into the US by CAI in the '80s.

Japanese Tokyo Artillery Arsenal Type-38 infantry rifle made 1909.
US Springfield Armory Model 1903 rifle made December 1909
German Waffenfabrik Mauser Gewehr 98 made 1914
British SMLE Mk.III*s, upper is Birmingham Small Arms made 1916; lower is Royal Small Arms Factory made 1918.

The 1911 is still killing people in combat in Afghanistan. Now that's a gun.

So's the SMLE.

the 1911 is the sexiest handgun

I'm a Glock guy but the aesthetics (subjective) and trigger (objective) on a 1911 are second to none.

This isn’t my picture but I have the same bayonet at home

Was truly John Brownings final master piece.

Here you go. She's a Nov 1918 gun, so never served in the first world war, but probably served elsewhere. Then came home, got bubba'd, then got fixed up.

A 1917 Gewehr 98 made at Amberg, and a 1916 No.1 Mk.III* made at RSAF Enfield.
