The conclusion to one of the most expansive series of 9mm defensive ammo testing is finally here. Watch the video and make sure you're not carrying shitty ammo.

this guy is a godsend for ammo testing. he's like the good version of Benjamin Paul Harrell. Harrel's a charlatan and a fraud and all his tests are total garbage. This guy does good tests!
>12" the absolute bare minimum
>I've tested so many rounds that exceed 12" that there's no real reason to not insist on 12"
>I would not get hung up on that 11-3/4"
>11-3/4" rounded off, okay, it's good enough
I understand tolerating a little overexpansion/underpenetration in bare gel tests, but make up your mind, dude.
And I don't see a list of what ammo he tested (other than scrolling through a year's worth of video titles), but it looks like he just didn't bother testing the best 9mm ammo in existence.
>I understand tolerating a little overexpansion/underpenetration in bare gel tests, but make up your mind, dude.
I'd say that's more for you to decide. If you live in a cold climate where people wear heavy / layered clothing half the year then you'd probably do well to trade some expansion for more penetration and vis versa for a hot climate.
Prob on of the best boolit reviews I’ve seen
>65gr meme screwdriver ammo with 0 expansion
Is the answer 147gr HST?
I bet the answer is 147gr HST
>relying on expansion for terminal effectiveness
ishygddt
>missing the point of the round
what about fort scott 9 mm? Shootingthebull wasn't included in the tests but it performed better than screw driver bullets
youtube.com
and it was the only 9mm buffman tested that shot through non soft armor level 3a

147 Winchesters won. I have an opinion on the testing and rounds that absolutely everyone will hate but don't feel compelled to type it out to get hate (you)'s. It's nice that he tested so many ammos but the best ones typically are in very short supply or the police buy them. It's also kind of silly that you need to buy the most expensive rounds possible to get "good" performance out of 9mm hollowpoints.
>but don't feel compelled to type it out
Don't be a pussy
But user, the round isn't pointed, it's flat nose.
Sweet!
This guys tests are top quality.
best 9mm is a 45
Holy Shit! He's back? Based. Missed this guy. TNoutDoors is making ballistic videos again too. Very cool
Type it faggot I wanna hear it
Also, SG Ammo has 147 gr Ranger SXTs right now actually. I'd probably carry 147 as well if I had a sub compact or pocket 9
Arguing about calibers and ammo has worn part of my soul down. I don't think I can do it anymore. Let the thread die with dignity.
>Let the thread die with dignity.
No.
You have terrible writing skills. Just thought you should know that
What the FUCK are you talking about?
Based schizo poster
Well...this thread went to shit fast.
What have you chumps been doing all day, talktotransformer.com posts are all over this board now
>What the FUCK are you talking about?
I mean, I've seen shit but the thing that makes it all so fucking hilarious is: the people who aren't the most "funniest" about it can't help but laugh at it and get offended when the person calling them out shows up to yell "YOU CAN'T COME IN THE BACK" or "YOU TAKEN MY TITS! I BET YOU BETTER PAY MORE FOR YOUR ASSES!"
The person screaming at me is an 18-year-old kid and his girlfriend, and the idea that she might not be very funny or pretty at times is just fucking fucking hilarious. That's just crazy to me. There's a lot of people who think the best way to be appreciated is to treat people like objects or commodities, and I totally agree with you that not every little thing with your ass deserves to be celebrated in the same way every little thing with your ass with everyone else. But being "funny" or "cute" or "pretty" doesn't mean you should be treated

Thinks he is being objective
No he is not.
so he tested bare gelatin and denim.
The FBI tests have more barriers than those two.
Are you the FBI or are you joe shmoe who needs a good cartridge for SELF DEFENSE?
>Are you the FBI or are you joe shmoe who needs a good cartridge for SELF DEFENSE?
This product is not a replacement for professional shooting instruction, but provides an effective and affordable method.
Why pay the premium price of $12 per shot when this product will save YOU hours in less than 5 minutes?
This is for the average man who does not like taking a chance with his ammo.
Will this pistol be able to hold up to an HMO?
Will you find an HMO with your military license?
Yes it will! The HMO (Hear Me Roar) is the only firearm in the world that has an automatic sear of up to 9.5, which is just fine and doesn't kill people, nor should it. If your aim is correct and your finger is on the trigger when that bullet is fired, the target will not be hit, or it will be a lot closer for it. That's why our competitors call us the HMO.
Oof, are those Hornady rounds? I've always been dubious about the expansion of Hornady Critical Duty/Defense but they are reliable, quality made rounds. I just doubt the expansion claims of manufacturers regarding most pistol cartridges out of handgun length barrels.
What kinda steel leaves the projectile intact?
JHP's clog up. It's why the twisty boi rounds have been gaining so much popularity as of late.
>muh .380 is just as good as 9mm
guess not
135gr Critical Duty, 124gr HST, and 147gr Gold Dot.
In the sheet-metal barrier test that pic represents, the Critical Duty penetrated 28.5", HST penetrated 26", and the Gold Dot blew through 32" of gelatin and disappeared downrange.
The 90gr XD was only slightly deformed, and penetrated 22.5".
Good hollow points don't clog you fucking retard. Meme screwdriver boolits don't actually tear up real flesh like a block of gel, they have a different POI, they put a shitload of copper fouling in your barrel, and infect the user with the big gay.
>Gold Dot, HST, and Critical Duty aren't good hollow points
OK, why don't you tell us what hollow points are actually good?
>Meme screwdriver boolits don't actually tear up real flesh like a block of gel
Not exactly the same as gel, of course, but they absolutely tear up real flesh better than JHP, more proofs incoming.
>MFD (Monolithic Fluid Displacement, aka XP/XD or Phillips-bit) pasta, adapted from desuarchive.org

Not scientific (sample of 1 for each bullet/barrier combination is trash), but very good demonstration of how JHPs are prone to failure on barriers, but XPs just work by default:

>meme bullets bad
Tell it to skynet.
Haven't seen much testing on FSM, but they were mentioned in that Viper/"Joint Agency" test as being rather unreliable because they would sometimes icepick instead of tumbling. They said this tendency was even worse in dead meat than ballistic gelatin, with a 50% failure rate for 9mm.
Additionally, even when they did tumble, while the permanent cavity in dead meat was bigger than FMJ, it was smaller than JHPs or XDs.
Now live meat is certainly not the same as dead meat, but if it's not reliable in either gel or dead meat, I don't expect it to be better in live meat. Open to being convinced otherwise, of course.
To me, terminal performance in meat (with and without typical intermediate barriers) is much, much more important than defeating armor, so with XDs seeming to destroy more tissue, and to do so more consistently, they're the obvious choice.
I love how this guy debunked the G2 RIP ammo a few years back.
They should do more ballistics gel tests like he did with the pig skin and ribs in addition to the denim.
Honestly the POI shift is the only thing that has ever bothered me about these light and fast rounds. I already favor light and fast cartridges so getting that performance across a wider variety of chamberings already seems like a big plus.
