Yea well it has ONE locking lug and is well known to fail with standard pressure service ammo

the krag is a complete hunk of shit.

You seem kinda salty there friend

>Model of 1898 krag carbine, dipshit
That's not a carbine. Legit carbines have different front sights and handguard. Post saddle ring if it's really a carbine.

Right, because there was only one configuration of carbine

Had a badly worn one, swallowed headspace gauges, but it remained buttery-smooth and did not blow up on me.

Not so great, but not a hunk of shit

well known by who?

oh my sweet summer child, that rifle is permenantly and irreversebly bubbaed to fucking hell, there is nothing krag carabeaner about that piece of shit.

I cry for that fucking rifle, not for you, imagine being so old, so much history, only to be bubba fucked decades ago, it was common practice to sporterize rifles in the old days from boomer and lost generation pieces of shit who didn;t want to be seen with a "cheap" military surplus rifle.

good news is these people rot in hell forever, restore that rifle to it's glory with a proper stock, but jesus christ CRY for the stock it was once one with, the originl stock probably ended up in a burn pit or dumpster, history lost forever, boomers and the WW2 generation were truely the worst.

It looks nothing like any 1898 or 1899 Krag Carbine. Just look at your upper handguard and you can see it's not at all correct for ANY carbine model.

Posting this again cause no reply’s but does anyone know how much this Remington modified 1903 would sell for? It’s marked November 1942 and the stock and rear sight aren’t matching but everything else is.

Front sight looks incorrect, take a picture of the sights on your gun.

it does look kinda sporterized user, I dont think ive ever seen a krag with a banded front sight, which makes me think someone cut down the barrel and the stock (which definitely looks refinsihed) and put on that new sight

And it is 1920s dragoon converted to 91/30 too. I just need a horsey horse and can go full russian cowboy larp

I'm not that retarded

You might be right about the front sight, apparently it's a 1903 model. The stock is in one of the correct configurations, check the picture of three carbines I posted farther up.

Bear in mind Krag carbines are probably one of the most commonly faked milsurp firearms, besides WWI-era trench guns and fake Waffenamts.

No4Mk1* has been refinished. Built 1950. Really nice timber on it, rivaling many new rifles.
Looking forward to shooting

Attached: no4mk1'.jpg (2048x975, 250K)

If it's a fake it's an excellent one, the barrel crown looks original. The front sight is not 1898 original though.

Don't forget fake No. 5 jungle rifles on the list, they are prolific.

fuck I love livePD

Remington modified or Remington made M1903?

It’s 1942 so as far as I’ve heard it’s a modified.

Bit drunk so not the best of question asked. Is the rollmark "Remington M1903" or does it have some cartouche stating it was redone by Remington? Educated but not expert refurb/rearsinaled was handled by the national arsinals and service depo's. Purpose build Remington M1903's are rare'ish but not snowflake. It depends if you put it in a market that knows and understands the history of a Remington made M1903. If its a purpose made Remington M1903 then I would put it at 10%-20% above what they are going for in the market your selling in if the potential buyer's in your area know what it is.

Pic for proof now I have a new thread.

Attached: M96 38 roll.jpg (3536x2036, 1.16M)

I'll get it out of the safe tomorrow, but I know it's labeled Remington m1903 on the rollmark and its not been refurbished. Also, the stock is a correct stock with the correct cartouches for a modified. From what I've been able to find online they mere made in between the purpose-built m1903s and the 03a3s so I have a pretty good idea of what it was I was just wondering if there were any anons with the same variant

americanrifleman.org/articles/2016/6/8/the-remington-m1903-rifles/

This was why I was calling it a modified btw

Hey guys, got to clean my SKS, 1952 Tula. Took the receiver/barrel assembly out and finally got a good look at it. Saw pic related. Everything else written on it was either stamped or written with some kind of engraving tool with really uneven writing, then there's this. Are aftermarket barrels even possible? Where could I go to figure this out?

Attached: 20190511_202712~2.jpg (3776x2832, 1.59M)

That's what I'm thinking after pining over some books and Krag collector forums. For a fake its a pretty good one, and I honestly wouldn't mind owning a fake carbine so long as it was similarly well-done and cheap.

Just read the links, so it's basically just import stamps, proving somebody tested to make sure it complies with regulations. Thanks a lot user.

>there is nothing krag carabeaner about that piece of shit.
>which makes me think someone cut down the barrel and the stock
The stock is a correct Krag Carbine stock. Rifle stocks retained the barrel band with a pin, but carbines used a spring.

Molot doesn't make any guns, no matter what retards on reddit think, they just take standard Mosins/SKS and sell them as "hunting" guns to get around regulations.

Only if it's guaranteed surp. Considering they're the only way we can get surplus full autos, I'd say so. When I build a VZ 61 from a surplus parts kit, I'd hope it's considered surplus.

What the fuck is going on here?

Sriesel is a jew and proxibids

Gee professor, that sure is a toughy.

It's because he shill bids.

Attached: 20190506_193131.jpg (3219x972, 2.2M)

Why would anyone go for it though? Like I said, there was another gun in basically identical condition for like half the price. Why would you bid on the one that's already got a wacky price?

Don't lie.
You'd shill bid too, wouldn't you?

If it was my entire existence? Most certainly.

Boomers follow his listings because he's such a big player.

>Boomers
Please ban anyone over the age of 35 from buying guns. Fuck old people in general as well:
>slave through college and law school
>make it through with both good grades and basically no debt thanks to scholarships (obtained via performance, not diversity quota garbage)
>get a good job, but have to work long hours to stay on top
>go to buy guns and other hobby items
>all hideously overpriced
>try to go to gun shows or local gun stores
>they're flooded with obese fucks
>"WELL BACK IN MY DAY SONNY I WORKED ON A FACTORY LINE AND WE BOUGHT MOSINS FOR A NICKLE"
>"YOU YOUNGINS NEVER WORK HARD ENOUGH ANYWAY"
Because we all know how hard it was to be a peasant that assembled basic items much like Chinese sweat shop workers do.

>You'd shill bid too, wouldn't you?
No.

Attached: 20190427_150743.jpg (3261x884, 2.64M)

Boomers are utterly clueless about how good they had it. The worst part is that the only ones that seem to be dimly aware of it are the ones on the Left.

Attached: SPA - FR 8.jpg (3521x926, 1.94M)

Well look at it this way Jow Forumsapt.
A shill bid is basically a reserve price.

More like shill bidding feigns interest

Correct. Molot refurbs milsurp for civilian market sale

Inland M1 Carbine just sold on Gunboards for $600+shipping. Can’t believe it lasted 15 minutes before someone nabbed it.

Gunboards is surprisingly slow, some times

Yeah it is, but sometimes it’s fucking fast. I bet I refresh the page 50 times a day or more on my phone. And I’ve gotten lucky a few times and gotten stuff 1 minute before someone else called dibs. I’ve also been 1 minute slow a couple of times.

What is THE current cheap milsurp rifle? Mosin is just a meme at this point. I was thinking an SKS, but those are still a bit pricey for a surplus gun.

Turkish Mausers

Best search terms to look for? I would want a full sized gun.
I was at a gun show a few weeks ago and picked up a sporterized Czech Kar98k (Vz33 I think) for $150. No rust at all but the stock looked like it was brand new and laquered, and for some reason had a gold (or brass?) plated quarter embedded into the stock and laquered over. I like it but would have preferred something not jacked up by some fudd.

Attached: 1533212779144.jpg (806x605, 64K)

>wasting money on bubba's abortions
Stop fucking doing that.

I thought it was cheap and I needed/wanted a hunting rifle. Maybe I will try to restore it by putting it on an original stock at a later date.
Would buying a Chinese SKS in cosmoline for $400 be a good choice if I didn't want another Mauser?

For me it's not even so much the financial component of buying guns; the guns (for good stuff like milsurp) hold their value pretty well or at least depreciate much slower than something like a car or vidya console.

Rather, it's the storage component. Wish I had something like a teleportation backpack like Doomguy where I could just stash my entire collection; I'm fast running out of space in my safe for my guns.

Chinese SKS in cosmo, if it's all matching, would be an excellent deal for $400. Is it a blade bayonet or a spike bayonet model?

spike

I have three cabinets and not enough space.

So, I purchased a Chinese SKS. The bore and crown are in good condition and the rifling is pretty strong too. However, the rifle has lost all of its finish and has minor rust. I would like to refinish the gun and the process doesn’t seem too hard. Clean with hopps, let dry. Wipe it with steal wool and heat the metal a bit, then apply the bluing solution. Does MSG have any other refinishing tips? Should I bother to or should I just clean the rust off? It’s a refurbish as far as I can tell, minimal markings but has the n sort of character on the rear sight. Oddly enough, any indentation on the gun (serial numbers, distance numbers) along with the rear cover has an odd red coloration to it. What could this possibly be? I hope it cleans off easily!

Picked up my Type 46 today. Overall, looks damn good. There's some notable pitting under most of the handguard, and I'm sure under the rest of the wood line too. That's to be expected though I guess, considering the climate these lived in. There's no active rust so I'm assuming the arsenal cleaned everything off, and did a fine job. The rest of the gun looks great, including the bore. The inspector's mark is entirely rubbed off but the seller believes it was an "A". The stock is a single piece with the extended tangs, making this an early rifle in a late stock. Overall, very beautiful.

How the FUCK can m39s be so beautiful

Notably, there are no import marks or an electro penciled serial number. I've heard there are some repro cleaning rods floating around that fit these as well. Maybe I'll find one.

Damn son, that wood on the bench looks better than the wood on the stock!

Yes

Cool. I was unclear in my earlier reply; I hadn't had you confused with someone else, it was my friend that bought an M96/38 converted from a 1905 Carl Gustaf at Stout Field.

The front is a bit ugly, but I find the rest of the stock quite appealing.

what is a matching condition lee enfield no1 mk iii rifle even worth these days?

i checked armslist and saw a few isha-poo indian war rifles starting around $400

I'd be lying if I sometimes wasn't jealous of how easy it was to be a milsurp collector literally up until the year before I began to be seriously interested in it.

Boomers will remember the good 'ol pre-1968 days when they could buy guns anywhere and everywhere

Gen-Xers will remember when FOPA 86 brought in a flood of surplus guns that made collecting interesting again

Millenials won't have that much to remember
