It will catch up in KE around 750 yards or so and will retain energy better at beyond a 1000 from its superior ballistic coefficient so for target shooting it's the superior round
I built a 6.5mm 1000 yard gun when I was about 14 and taught myself long range precision shooting because my dad wouldn't do it for me and ended learning enough to shoot out past 2000 yards with it
