If shit kicks off, how long until they start offering 2 year contracts?

That would be comfy desu
A 2 year 11x opt 40 with a guarantee of deployment sounds amazing

They did it during the surge in Iraq, so I have to assume plans are in place for a similar recruitment push if war were declared.

Were they opt 40 contracts though? I feel like Regiment would feel insulted that you not only want to be one and done but be a two year one and done who never wants to touch a leadership position

2 years were regular army only back then. It's actually a slight advantage, because you'll have more bargaining power when (or if) you go to retention to reenlist.

I don't understand the military's obsession with "prior service" applicants for enlistment.
Can someone explain why it's a separate category?
I'm not in the military but always hear this thrown around.

Attached: CowboyApu.jpg (1148x746, 204K)

Hey, yesterday I had dry blood underneath my toenail. I drained it, and removed pretty much all of it. The nail is kinda loose on my toe, but not too bad.

What's the next step in the healing process? Elevate my foot? Should I bandaid it shut? If so , tightly? Or should I just leave it uncovered. What do?

Attached: Screenshot_2019-05-15-09-27-27.png (1440x2560, 2.41M)

do you expect anyone to have the answer to this? because no one will know.

i dont understand your question. there is no "obsession", but they rightly get slapped into a separate category because there is a difference between someone with military experience and someone without.
you don't treat them the same because they're not.

>any sigint tips?
you lucked out, there's no reason to be nervous. you're in a part of the corps that most marines dont even know exists. it's still shitty because you're a marine, but opportunities are good and promotions are fast. Last I replied to you they were faster than I've ever seen.
the only possible really shitty sigint MOS is 2631. otherwise rest easy.
if you become a 2631 then don't fret, they were working on redoing the entire sigint structure anyway and 2631s were getting some attention too so my word may be out of date.
gl user and don't be lazy once you hit the fleet

>guarantee of deployment
That's the part that can never happen, though.

im not a foot doctor but to avoid ingrown toenail i'd say don't bandage it really tight. i'd bandaid when i left the house, but only to keep random dirt out, not to act as tape for the nail.
i think you'll be fine, nails just heal slowly and it sucks.

It means if you were in the armed forces previously. A surprising number either switch branches (I personally met a former USMC bro and a Navy creep while at 82nd, for example), or got out, found the civilian world lacking in some way (?) and got back in.

this sounds retarded from all angles
>get someone for only 2 years
>throw them in a longer than usual training pipeline
>also immediately deploy them
>they finish their deployment and enlistment at the same time
the army is dumb but that's a waste on every front.

>do you expect anyone to have the answer to this
Not really. I was just curious to hear the opinions of people who have experience dealing with the military.

way i see it, if you'll only join for a 2 year specialboy contract then the military isn't for you anyway.
jobs with 2 years generally have low retention (for a reason) and short training, but are also big which indicates low requirements as well.
tl;dr the shitty jobs.

I mean, the Marines were offering 0231 intel analyst contracts for 2 year terms when they were open. That's the direction I was looking to go in anyway, and my main goal is just spending some time getting military discipline before getting out to finish my degree.

Yeah, thing is I was supposed to leave for meps thursday friday but my nail looked like pic related yesterday, so they delayed it. Hoping the burr holes in my nail arent an issue. Gonna try again friday and if they say its good then ill head up.

Attached: Screenshot_2019-05-14-16-44-59.png (1440x2560, 3.25M)

I only have this anecdote:
I met a dude who got a 2-year Airborne Infantry contract. Hard-charging, PT stud, hispanic turbo-manlet who could do 100 pushups in 2 minutes, etc. He was a machine gunner and somehow completed Ranger school before getting out. It was the only case I ever saw, but it is possible. He wasn't at bat, though. Just regular airborne infantry.

If Iran turns into Iraq 2 and you're in regiment I'm pretty sure deployment is guaranteed

>There are 3 regiments (+1 training regiment)
>with multiple battalions per regiment
There is still some luck involved, comrade.

Is anyone here in Air Force Munitions Systems? My cousin says it's good work hours (won't get called to work weekends) and if you go to Korea it's cake. Should I go for it?

Uhhh are you retarded?
There is one (1) regiment and it is the 75th Ranger Regiment and if by multiple you mean 3 then you are correct.

Yes, pardon my nomenclature.
3 battalions in 1/75
My point stands.

youll be fine, you did the right thing to drain the blood, although just one hole might have sufficed. same happened to me in basic, banged my middle finger between a couple cans of ammo, had the blood drained, waited for the nail to come off and grow back. pic related

Attached: image.jpg (4032x3024, 2.6M)

Not that guy but it's still not a guarantee.
Also there are 3 battalions, plus the training element(some of whom aren't even Rangers) at Benning, plus RRC.

There's enough going on in the world that Rangers could, sure, but so could Force Recon.

they already do

It was reformed, now 2 year contracts come with 2 on active and 4 in the guard

>91R Veterinary Food Inspection Specialist
Huh, they do have an MOS for everything.

mostly horses and dogs

So I took an 88M contract with my state's ARNG.

Now from what I understand, 88M isn't that great of an MOS in terms of training; you're under prepared for a lot of what modern operations throw at you.

What are some useful cross training skills to pick up?

yeah its called 11b

Any experience with sub computer tech? I want cryptologist but if that's not available I've been told that I can definitely go sub.

>What are some useful cross training skills to pick up?
infantry, and eod for recognizing IEDs, don't forget to get your CDL

2 year contracts seem cool and everything but how difficult is it to get my hands on a 3 year 11x opt 40?

Attached: pepetux.png (1000x1000, 177K)

They’re gonna want you to do 4.

But is it possible to get 3?

Attached: faragesipping.jpg (634x951, 203K)

Not from my experience or a cursory search online.

Is it best to get an opt 40 contract or volunteer at OSUT/airborne school?

Attached: rangers.jpg (1502x998, 295K)

Contract, dummy. Then you can get that FAT bonus that will never materialize when you go WorldWide at RASP.

>bonus that will never materialize when you go WorldWide at RASP
Why would that deprive you of your bonus wtf

Attached: justapu.png (546x458, 92K)

user what does "Worldwide" mean?

>Why would that deprive you of your bonus wtf
You don't get the bonus if you don't complete the contract requirements ie. OSUT, Airborne School, RASP.

>user what does "Worldwide" mean?
Its where you go when you wash out of RASP. Anywhere in the world the Army needs you.

checked and that makes complete sense
obviously they wouldn't give bonuses to washouts because then people would just start taking the opt 40s and dropping out to collect the bux

thats what mine is, 3 years active 5 in reserves

3 years 11x opt 40 because that's the one we were talking about

mine is just 11x but there were people in my company with the op40 on top of that, and if you had a 270 or 280 or above pt score, you could find a way to get into rasp right after osut

Its the Green Card the only way to get in as European with some military background? I heard about MAVNI but its got nuked.

Do the Marines still let GEDfags in? Otherwise I'm fucked

Attached: 2aa89994b29e304fb111a211758d0b16.jpg (403x395, 34K)

damn, alright man thanks for the scoop. I guess im just worried that fungus'll grow inside and mess up my shit more. Gonna wash it up, apply peroxide, neosporin, then let it air out until 2pm where im gonna be on my feet for 8 hours rolling burritos like a complete square. Thanks again

That's not an /meg/ question
Go talk to a recruiter or maybe try looking it up

Would a /meg/ question be "I went to a few head shrinks over the years, should I mention that?"

What is USMC 0311 rifleman like?

Best MOS in the military
We're given training equivalent to that of the Army's SOF units and our bootcamp is probably about as difficult as RASP (but don't tell the Rangers that)
Yeah we don't get the best gear but it's because the DoD knows we don't need it when we more than make up for it with talent and Marine Corps spirit

Attached: usmc.png (1200x1200, 712K)

Attached: 1500581298548.gif (500x216, 999K)

Ok now in your own words please

Yeah, it's gonna be 4 years or excel in PT
Don't think you can get a guarantee for RASP with just 3

Attached: 1516018406144.jpg (400x400, 21K)

Just spoke to a Coast Guard recruiter, why the fuck are they so much chiller than Air Force recruiters?
Anyone here familiar with Coast Guard? Intelligence Specialist looks appealing to me.

Attached: cute.png (674x431, 173K)

Everyone branch is tough. Recruiters are just that recruiting. do your own research and choose

You could go subs as a ctr

Applying for a commission from the AF, got MEPS on friday after a year of dicking around with paperwork. Only thing that makes me worried about being denied is a single incident where i felt dizzy and lightheaded after working out and went to the ER for it, got cleared and sent home the same day. I already submitted the records including the records for a follow up visit I did to a cardiologist recently just to be sure. You guys think I'm fucked or what?

Attached: 1557111993648.jpg (1125x1069, 185K)

Jesus what a fucking QT.

I'd put my cock in her pit if you know what I mean

Are other branches allowed to wear command ball caps in uniform or just the Navy?

My recruiter told me Air Force basic training doesn't have combat training (kinda disappointed but whatever, I didn't sign up for the Air Force to be a badass). So what the fuck do you do in eight weeks of military non-combat training that doesn't touch on your job?

How not to rape people and how to put a condom on.

>bn just denied everyone's leave requests
>everyone told to update next of kin info asap
w-what's going on guys

Attached: 1546480771315.jpg (1152x1236, 145K)

I fucking fucked up boys
>was going to join the army out of high school
>wanted to do it for years, college wasnt for me
>parents talked me out of it, said I should at least try college
>figure what the hell, Ill at least try it, then join and have the military pay for it all later
>get sucked into the education system, quitting half way through would have been retarded and costly so I suck it up
>dad mentioned I could do the national guard, but I assume theyre all fat boomer weekend warrior and I want to wait for "the real thing"
>six fucking years later im graduating this Saturday
>50K in debt
>never had money to dorm, lived at home and worked part time saving a little money
>no fun college experiences to make up for it, no GF, still a virgin at 24, most of my friends left for college or the military and dont talk to me anymore

I legitimately havent been happy in 6 years, its all been work and struggle and nothing to show for it besides a fucking BA and I learned nothing I wanted to. I could have had more and it just feels like im hitting one fuck up after another and its all my fault. Now im looking back at the army, and keeping an eye on these threads people having been pushing OCS for anybody with a degree, but I want to finally be a soldier and get what I want. The 11X option 40 option sounds perfect, but I now think I could be a good officer and at least get something for all my trouble. Maybe try out for RASP 2 or SFAS as an officer, but im just not sure. I dont want to ride a desk anymore and be too chicken shit again to commit to something I want. Or am I overly romanticizing it and OCS is still the better route? My family and I have been fighting all week, I feel nothing for graduation and im kind of angry drunk right now

Attached: robert.jpg (625x415, 82K)

have sex.

Go ocs, if you enlist you will hate life.

Army OCS seems cringe. You get randomly assigned a branch from the pile of remaining branch spots that nobody else wanted. I guess its cool if you just want a stable government job and dont care if you’re in the signal corps or chem corps for 6 years

Ok, since everyone has been saying enlisting with a degree is retarded and OCS is better, whats the career path like for Officers who want to get into combat arms and specifically SOF, like say the Rangers, Marine MARSOC or special forces?

Attached: nate fuck.jpg (200x250, 50K)

Be one of the top 3 guys in your OCS class and pick an infantry spot if its available. Otherwise, good luck lol.

Seems like you haven’t done the most bare minimum of research, and just have spent all your time having autistic daydreams about being a cool army man. Why don’t you drop the charade of “this is my calling!!” and just go have sex.

Do I tell the doctor my pp sore sometime? Sometime I cant cum quick.

Wait until you get out and all your buddies are fucked up, fighting substance abuse, in psych wards, legal troubles, and suicides. It ain't all guts and glory kids, I'm 32 with multiple deployments to Iraq as 11b. I got out in 2010, was stop lossed for my last deployment, it's been a hell of a ride readapting back to civi life, and the stuff you do in the military/overseas you'll deal with the consequences for life. It's not like movies/video games, as generic as that sounds. I remember being in you guy's shoes once, right after 9/11 and watching the Iraq invasion in highschool, all gun hoe ready to roll. Anyway I'm not trying to sound all Doom/gloom, just informing you guys there are serious consequences for these choices you make, and when it gets bad for you America will sort of toss you to the side like a consumer good with an expired shelf life, you'll be a leper in the eyes of your peers who didn't serve.

so whats the general consensus and experience with 11X opt. 40?
everyone says avoid infantry like the plague, but this gets mentioned all the time as the "true' army experience. What if I want to go through OCS instead like

I feel exactly the same as you, except I am not a virgin and had a couple of GFs.

Do what they told me over and over again.
"Sign up, or else you are going to regret not at least trying it for the rest of your life"
Now I am 23, don't really want to do anything in life except for become a Marine, and don't know what to do with my life. Should have listened.

Joining the Infantry isn't going to magically make you happy. If you're miserable on the outside, you'll probably be miserable in the Army, possibly even worse especially in basic/going to the field alot. You're also going to be treated like shit for a good two years. It will force you to socialize tho, and increase your chances of not being a virgin.

For me, the draw is really just seeing that side of the human experience. It doesn't sound like any way to live a life long term, but it has to give you a unique perspective on the day to day most people are used to.

if infantry sucks, what are some other cool combat arms related MOS's that would make me eligible to be an operator? Armor, engineer? I know these units take a load of other MOS's but I dont want to go through all that training and be a cucked unit supply clerk or mechanic

Attached: 1494198634294.jpg (448x291, 22K)

literally no one else does that.
if coasties do it, i never saw it.
i can guarantee you the army, usaf, and marines dont.

well i joined the military to go to school because my family was poor and stupid and unwilling to help...
and wont have a bachelors until im 30. it's all relative.
im not even bummed by it.

you'll never convince someone to back off from their idealistic dreams of glory in these threads with the truth of the situation.
that last bit about being tossed to the side by society...yeah they don't care until it's too late. they just want to have fun and stories.

>armor
>combat engineer
>operator
no.
if you want to be a operator then go down operator pipelines and be a squeaky wheel. or just go straight to buds or something.
it's still going to suck.

Which would be a better job if shit hits, corpsman or 68W?

You can still enlist with a GED, but you need to score higher on the ASVAB, there's a minimum required for dropouts like ourselves.
>If you have a high school diploma or higher, you are categorized in Tier 1 classification, and if you have a GED without college credits, you are classified as Tier 2. However, if a student with a GED completes 15 college credits, that student is reclassified as Tier 1. The Tier 1 student has to perform in the 30th percentile and above on the ASVAB to be eligible for service. The Tier 2 student has to perform above the 50th percentile to be eligible for service.
>The Air Force is the most strict on this matter. The Air Force allows less than one percent of annual enlistments to be recruits without a high school diploma. The Marines have the next highest standards. No more than five percent of Marine recruits can be GED-holders. The Army allows no more than ten percent each year, and the Navy limits GED enlistments to no more than five to ten percent each year.
>There are always many more GED-holders who want to enlist than there are available slots, so — even to be considered — a GED holder must score much higher on the Armed Forces Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), than a high school diploma recruit. However, if a recruit has 15 or more college credits, he/she is in the exact same enlistment category as a high school diploma holder. Thus having a GED with college credits is not an issue the recruiter has to deal with to help the recruit overcome.
Be advised, unless you have some college, the number of people allowed to join with GEDs is limited, so you really have to be on top. I was worried until I took some practice ASVABs, people who don't score high 90s must be retards.

Attached: 1507947020658.png (382x596, 175K)

I know user. It wouldn't have changed my course back when I was 18 if I had seen a post like that. All I can do is offer a different perspective of reality that they won't generally get in these threads and sure as hell not from the recruiter. I see this shit happening with Iran so I popped in here. America's foreign policy since 9/11 has been downright shameful, I'm mind boggled we haven't learned after 20 years of war. Neocons/Neocon lobbiests deserve a 124 gr. pill for this Israel lapdog bullshit, it's downright treasonous at this point. This is just my opinion.

enlisted as a 37f in the reserves today.
been fit, been in uni for a while, hopefully will be in iran.

If you think you can cut it become a PJ. You'll be com & med orientated which is a huge plus on the teams. This will probably give you a bonus in selection as well.

Honestly this may sound retarded but how the fuck are going to pass selection if you can't even get laid? It's a primal human function and when you go through those courses you have to reach down to something primal I'd say. If you can't even do that to get pleasure how could you even do it to go through pain?

I respect the spirit of the core but that's retard nigga.

Your battalion commander is being a giant dick, and has it in his head that there will be a war. Enjoy your friday formation where he goes on and on about readiness, and whatever else bullshit.

>has it in his head that there will be a war
They evacuated the embassy in Baghdad yesterday morning. He may know something we don't.

Do you have any idea how many times I've heard a battalion or brigade commander talk about how we will be at war with Iran/ISIS/NorthKorea/Libya/Russia by the end of the week? And then had leave/pass denied, and forced to update some bullshit or spend all day in the motor pool? That is pretty much what the army is all about.

Iraq was a skirmish compared to what iran could be.

Fair enough.

you need to be realistic. lets say you get your contract with an op 40. and you fail out of rasp, you are going to go to some random bumfuck line unit and hate your life because you will never deploy. lets say you pass rasp, the suck has only just begun, un tabbed guys in regiment get harrassed until they get there tab, its also easier to pass rasp then it is to stay in regiment for an extended period. going officer is even worse idea if you want to pursue the operator lifestyle , because OCS has high standards and you likely wont have much of a say as to which branch of the army you are sent to, unless you graduate near or at the top of your class, and getting into regiment as an officer is hard, you already have to be tabbed, and its more competitive then enlisted. same goes for the special forces groups
13f. be a fister and go ranger regiment , they are one of the few pog mos's that actually hang with infantry in the field , besides combat medics
