Get an Arsenal, milled or stamped, they're both great guns. WASRs are pleb-tier entry level AKs that do not blow up in your face like Century's, but can come with several factory defects like canted sights, shitty finish, etc.

I have a Sig 556 (pic related) and an SGL 31. I have a couple Gucci ARs and a Gucci Glock as well as a couple competition handguns that never come out. I have vintage hunting rifles and other guns that are collectable and worth high dollars. I even sold my Korovin last year because I felt bad that I never took it out.
And you know what? I dont have half the fun with them as I do with my $300 butter barrel AMD that has been through the ringer more than a couple of times.
You can say different strokes all you want but I still dont see you posting any guns in the wild.

I replaced the barrel in my clearview AMD finally.
It had about 1500 rounds through it at the point of replacement, and it was due. Gas was eating through the port and enlarged the hole. This duly increased the speed of the carrier, which led to significant peening on the tail. The headspace was also in excess after said round count. Clearview also felt necessary to ship with .315 barrel pins on supposedly fresh kits. I was lucky and careful enough to be able to save the trunnion. Here is the result.

I always wondered about this. Wouldnt drilling the UF hole through the receiver ruin the heat treat? Considering the stock does receive the brunt of recoil, wouldnt this over time cause the hole to stretch out?
Would one have to reheat or retemper the receiver once you drill the hole or would you have to take caution in not getting it hot during the drill process? Any and all answers are greatly appreciated!
I even guess the similar question would appear for people who do the SOT conversions to FA. Drilling a pin hole would require regeating and retreating?

That would be a valid argument if it cost susbstantially more to manufacture and export these rifles than it once did, but it doesnt. Price has not changed. Century deliberately tries to control the price on shit like WASRs as to mill as much money as they can from them.
Notice how when EVERY other variant started to rise in price because of scarcity, Century raised the price of their products despite availability not changing in the slightest? Notice how the M10 is much cheaper than the RH10?

Once those start flowing in, and the early adoption phase is out, I don't see century holding on to much. They've fucked themselves through shitty business practices, and the second something else appears in that price bracket, no one will buy them. I think they will, eventually. First they'll need to cover costs of ironing out all the start up bugs and whatnot, but then I really think they'll drop fairly quickly and eat into that market. At least that's my hope. Really, there's no need for a "high end" AK market. At least not in the sense that they would create one. Super autismo reproductions? You can bet your chromosomes that would sell. But like you said, 3k M91 is no bueno.

So is it just a total crapshoot if I'm going to get ripped off or shitty work from a smith? I just need the gas block swapped and the muzzle threaded, what questions do I ask to make sure they actually know how to work on an AK? The last guy I talked to said he wouldn't thread the barrel without taking it completely out of the gun and doing it on a lathe. I don't want my perfect Izhmash headspace and riveting fucked with by some mutt.
I'd do the muzzle myself if I didn't need the gas block swapped, but I'm not going to buy a press for this one project.
