This is your daily reminder that your mountains of stockpiled ammo are useless unless you put at least some of it it on stripper clips and have a few charging spoons handy. A gang of spics or nignogs or tweakers is not going to agree to a time-out so you can reload your mags one fumbling fucking cartridge at a time.

For long-term storage, use GI ammo cans with a silica dessicant pack thrown in. Tape the charging spoons to the inside of the lid so you don't have to scrabble around looking for them.

Already on it mate, I've been buying ammo since prices got significantly cheaper in 2017. I'm sitting on about ~5k each of .308, 9mm, 7.62x39, 22lr, and 5.56 with another 10k or so split between between 10mm, 45acp, 300Blk, and 12ga. Overall I'm up to something like 35k, I probably am going to try to add another 2k of 5.56, x39, and .308 by then end of the summer, but it's going to be hard with how much I shoot this time of year. I'm starting to feeling pretty good about my stockpile, It'd definitely be enough for me to ride out a Sandy Vagina or 2 without much problem, but I'm not so sure about 8 years of a Democrat as president. I shoot quite a bit and burn something like 10k rounds/year, so my stockpile wouldn't even make it through 1 term at this point. I'm hoping to be up to ~60k by 2020 just in case things get weird in the ammo market around the election.

What’s everyone’s ratio on HD/SHTF to Range ammo?

Here's my breakdown, I probably need some more 5.56 (I'd like several combat loads), but I'm pretty happy overall. I don't exactly expect to get into pitched gunfights constantly if SHTF was to ever happen, I'd be more likely to hand out guns and ammo to people I trust. Besides, xm193 with do almost as good a job dropping someone as 77gr SMK would, especially if there isn't medical care immediately available.
