Mossberg 590A1

What do you guys think of the 590A1s? I'm looking for a shotgun that will last me a millennia and it seems like that beefy beast fits the bill, what are all your takes on it? And No, I don't want an 88 or a 500.

Yeah

iz good.

If the one you're looking at in the OP picture is the one you are thinking of buying, DO IT.

They just started offering it again. It's the old 590a1 SPX and it's the best thing mossberg ever released.

The 500 is great so I imagine a 590a1 would be even better. Get it.

As an owner of a 590A1 I would suggest going with a 500 due to barrel change compatibility. The aluminum trigger housing is nice and all but I'm sure you can buy one somewhere separately.

If that is an SPX, it's the one of the best pumps on the market in my opinion.

I know the old SPXs came with a fucking M9 to mount on it. Maybe this new one does too.

solid guns
>looking for a shotgun that will last me a millennia
well, like any gun, you'll replace parts occasionally after high round count
safety block in mine broke after a number of years

I have a 500 also, my advice for mossbergs is, put a couple hundred rounds through it, if you don't see issues, you probably have a quality example

>shoot it first
and I know that that's the case w/ most guns, but in my experience mossbergs are rougher around the edges than some anons give them credit for

yeah, Brownells
they sell out quickly from what I've seen

My slampig is awesome

I got a 18 inch 9 round 590 i use for clay shooting.
Never a problem and ive put well over 2000 rounds through it with no problems

consider the model that comes with magpul furniture. I love it on mine

Not op but similar question. Is there much of a reason to get the 590 or 590a1 compared to the 500, since the only main differences are a thicker barrel, metal trigger guard, and one extra round? considering the price difference is around $150 or so. Also, can the 500 mount the heat shield like the 590s?

>Is there much of a reason to get the 590 or 590a1 compared to the 500, since the only main differences are a thicker barrel, metal trigger guard, and one extra round?
yes and no if 150 bucks means alot then just get the 500 if it doesnt its okay to spend more
>Also, can the 500 mount the heat shield like the 590s?
yes you can buy it from mossberg think its 30-40 bucks

$150 isn't much extra to me, jsut didn't know if what you got was worth the extra cash. Pointless, but would be neat to be able to have a shotgun that can mount a bayonet, so that's a point for cool factor for the 590 series. I'll have to give it some more thought. Thanks user.

that light doesnt seem like the easiest thing to use

It's an OK shotty but I would recommend a semi auto if you have the money.

i'm lefty and only use it for constant-on

If you dont want it for anything but self defense, a 590A1 or a Benelli M2 or M4 are damn hard to beat. Should you ever decide to shoot clays or hunt on the regular though, there are better options.
