I rent a room in a house, but am fast reaching capacity in the stack-on 18-gun safe I own. Thinking about buying another, but would have no idea where to put it.

Yes. And loaded.

I just bought a 14 gun safe, that is where I keep mine. I live at home, so no renting yet. You could get some concealed gun storage of sorts if you are OK with having some firearms more accessible than normal, it also works well considering space issue as you can hang the storage on the wall. Also from a defensive perspective its nice to have some of the bigger guns in your collection easy accessible during any sorta defense situation.

Have you SBR'd the Thompson yet? If so, is it worth it? If not, why not?

I have the completed Form 1, but haven't actually gotten around to SBR'ing it yet.
They are kind of a PITA to SBR since just getting the barrel off is a task all by itself,
but also getting it headspaced properly as well as fitting the front sight on the barrel as well.

That's what I plan on doing eventually, I've just been really lazy about it and have been pursuing other projects.
Part of me is also wanting to find someone that will do other work on it such as riveting the rear sight in place,
as well as refinishing it to have a parkerized finish, since the blued finish isn't very authentic to most M1A1's.
I also want to have some of the sharp edges on the receiver rounded off to more closely match the original M1A1's.
(The Khar reproductions have ridiculously sharp edges for whatever reason.)

It's a post war Winchester M1 from, 1956 last year they were made as part of the Main run. The roughest place it's been is in the hands of a soldier on an army base at worst.

Not that guy, but they're great guns. My grandpa left me a Senneca Green one when he passed in '07, and it's a very light, accurate and reliable gun.
