Reenacting group, we hike in our gear for shits and giggles, and to make sure we have all of our stuff adjusted well for events.

Nothing too interesting most rangers think the reenacting is cool and the hippies normally are smart enough to not mess with 13 armed guys in larp gear. Had a few confrontational dudes but we normally just play it off.

>Going on short 1 night hike with the group
>everyone meets up at our normal meet point and jumps in one of the older guys 40s power wagon to get a ride to the trailhead (state park has expensive overnight fees)
>rangers already know of us so they are pretty chill with 13 guys looking like they came from Saigon rolling into their park.
>have a normal hike, marching songs, regular banter and that one guy who hates to keep pace.
>only see a few people on the trail
>get to the campsite we secluded to set up camp at and see that a few people are already set up
>massive field so we just go and set up on the other side
>one of the hikers walked up to us when we were setting up for the night
>he aggressively asked what we thought we were doing and how he and his girlfriend dont feel safe with us here.
>standard procedure for people like this is to pretend they are Vietnamese villagers speaking to us in rapid fire Vietnamese.
>start speaking in slow English and broken Vietnamese
>guy is getting more and more upset
>get our ARVN "translator" to help us
>he is actually Vietnamese guy and speaks the language fluently
>he starts speaking to the guy in Vietnamese then translating what he says in English to us
>hilarious game of telephone ensues.
>confrontational guy get extremely angry and after yelling some more vowed to call the cops.
>two hours later rangers and a county cop show up
>cop ask us whats going on and we explain the situation
>cop is cool and ranger expected it
>ask if they want to stay for dinner
>we had a full cook station set up at camp
>cop says no but the ranger got a sandwich to go
>angry guy in disbelief on how we weren't arrested
>continue to treat them like villagers until we hike out the next morning
