Quad rail carbine-length fsb is peak AR aesthetic

Change my mind.

It’s more aesthetic with a 14.5 though.

But I too enjoy the 2000’s nostalgia.

i mean , i dont hate it. the only aesthetic i really dislike are keymod rails. wtf were they thinking?

I fell for that trap for a while, definitely gives me the feels but there's wasted rail space that only adds unnecessary weight.

would have at least respected your opinion if you hadn't picked the worst example in existence.

My main go-to rifle is very 2009ish

>carbine 16” upper
>magpul grip, handguard, stock, sling, mags
>FSB with buis
>aimpoint comp m2
>random $100 amazon led flashlight with pressure switch

I can see why folks like full length free floats but I’ve just never needed them.

Nah, you right. Even though it still constitutes 95% of all AR rifles in service internationally, its obsolete in the face of no sight free floated concealed gas block and therefore joins the pantheon of old legacy shit we romanticize, alongside M16A1s, heat shield M203s and and the various patterns of Colt Commando.

>air soft first battalion!

Agreed.

>90s cars were peak aesthetics.

>people still run 16"
>not being in the 10-14.5" sweet spot

I say we’ve reached a plateu with firearm technology. A mid 2000s carbine does everything as good as modern carbines save for weight. Which doesn’t really matter if we aren’t lugging rifles around.

Eh, a free float will be more accurate for precision shooting. But it probably won't make a difference for non-benchrest competition or for combat.

>what is the NFA

yeah its based. im getting mine in 3 weeks.

Free float handguards have been around since the 90s, free float quads were certainly popular in the mid 2000’s, so i’d lump it in with them.

>what is 14.5 pinned/welded

An NFA workaround.

Isnt a front sight base better because a front sight on the handguard can lose zero easier?

In theory, but in practice its a moot point. Your hand guard should be solid enough to be unaffected, so anything that would shift your poi by putting pressure on the hand guard would have bent the barrel anyway.

A government profile barrel is where all the unnecessary weight is, but the rail in your picture is hollowed out to eliminate that very issue (perceived)

Did you have to choose the most poverty stricken example?

I have one. It's quite lovely
