Well, barring 1870-1945, France is the most chad country in Europe, so it only makes sense that they would help their brethren.

1) Nobody is going to try it, because the resultant government would get destroyed by the "international community". Sanctions, weapons being given to enemy guerrilla movements, no-fly zones, et cetera. And anyone who worked for/with the private military corporation would get blacklisted and persecuted by the "international community". Basically, everybody associated with Blackwater would lose everything, and the government would eventually collapse anyway.

2) Presumably, with enough firepower, anybody could conquer anything. I'm sure that there are several capital cities which Blackwater could conquer with ease. However, holding the country over the long-term, would be the real problem.

3) A more interesting question is whether Blackwater can integrate themselves in a country's government, and become something like the Praetorian Guard - selecting future leaders. E.g. Chad hires Blackwater to deal with a troubled area, and Blackwater ends up running Chad.

Most billionaires have a lot to lose. If the US government decided to take a dismal view of Bill Gates, they could bankrupt him. Unless those billionaires are somehow immune to US government pressure, they're going to be afraid of US power.

Nation states generally don’t take kindly to non-state actors asserting powers generally reserved for states. This is probably a good thing for just about everyone.

It's highly improbable. And it depends on what you mean by "taking over". An all-out invasion is highly improbable, which sounds like what OP was thinking of.

Autarky sounds good to Jow Forums, but it's awful in practice. If your country doesn't produce enough grain, you run the risk of starvation. If your country doesn't produce toothpaste, you'll have to go without, or use some awful substitute. If your country doesn't produce the natural resources to make gunpowder or lead, you'll run out of ammunition.

Maybe some countries with a lot of natural resources, and sufficient agricultural production, could go autarky without a major economic collapse. Burma, for example. But there aren't very many countries that can sustain an economy without importing natural resources from other countries. And once the economy collapses, the people start rioting, and forming rebel movements.

And if the country eventually collapses, everybody will get murdered by the rebels. Oh, and the US government will help the rebels, by providing them with a no-fly zone, and giving them unlimited weapons and ammunition.

You mean China or Russia. That's pretty much it. The US will kick the shit out of any country that trades with you - and there are only a two countries that are immune to US pressure - China and Russia. Which means you had better get their approval before you invade. And they know how you are dependent on them - which means you'll essentially owe your life to either China or Russia, and have to obey their orders. They'll own you - like the Venezuelan military is essentially owned by China.

You overestimate how powerful these weak african countries are. Some have no tanks or helicopters.
