/MSG/ Military Surplus General

Favorite and least favorite shooters edition
M1917, and as of yesterday, my new Radom P35 are my favorite shooters. Radom has a slight bur that make reassembly require some persuasion and the old plastic grips are cracked, but I love the thing. M43 is my least favorite, something about the cock on open/ straight bolt combo is meh, and the sights suck.
What are yours?

That looks really nice. Make sure you get a bayonet!

I tried but CMP database must have gotten borked since last time I ordered from them and they don't have my club affiliation on file anymore. I will get it soon, and sling of course. The parts kit is actually a real dog, it has definitely been around the block. The new green mountain barrel should make it a shooter though.

My favorite shooter is probably my 1895 Chilean, my least favorite is probably my Brazilian VZ24.

Mauser Broomhandle. Holy shit that gun is the most uncomfortable piece of shit I've ever shot.

If it's that bad, I'll give you $37 for it. I'll pay shipping too

All GI surplus? (besides lower obviously)
How much did it set you back?

Nah I'm keeping it for the memes and the incredibly niche long-range handgun shooting.

Parts kit was $595 from sarco, all colt, lower is brownells and cost $150 (ouch), barrel was $194 from green mountain.

worth it imo, great looking rifle there user

When did you buy that kit? They still cost that much? Also link to lower?

I bought the parts kit in February from sarco then waited ages for a barrel to be in stock somewhere. I think sarco is all out but whatacountry still has some. Lower is brownells.com/rifle-parts/receiver-parts/receivers/lower-receivers/ar-15-xm16e1-lower-receivers-prod105044.aspx

Yeah im working on my build atm. I had my barrel on back order and got it about a month ago. Need to finish it up. Why not go with the Nodak Spud lower? Just asking out of curiosity.

At the time NDS was out of stock and Brownells was in stock. The brownells is an NDS forging anyway.

Mucho jealous as I am Polish

Hard to pick a favorite shooter.... probably my krag. It's just such a joy.

Least favorite is my Yugo Mauser.

Is $150 good for a sporterized SMLE in 303 brit assuming the bore isnt shot to shit?

Sporters tend to go for around that, maybe a little less. but why? For twice that you can get a far better hunting rifle, and for around three times that you can get a nice unfucked Lee Enfield.

Thought it might have been a good deal, but I guess not.

No, sporters are almost never good deals unless they're free.

I just realized there are two threads

rockislandauction.com/detail/2023/358/two-remington-rolling-block-long-guns

Just won this at $800, which puts me at around $1000 to get both these guys home. Did I do good? RIA had another 7mm saddle ring sell for 1200 by itself in the last online auction. Also someone dropped 2k on a Soviet Tokarev. Any reason why?

Worst?

Bench-sama!

What kind of Carcano is that?

1929 produced Beretta 91/28. First year of production as far as I am aware. I found some ancient BLO tucked away in a corner. If it's not rancid I might give the bench some love

Arigatou Bench-sama!

It's hard for me to describe really. The high bore axis definitely doesn't help, and neither does the hammer bite when you hold it wrong with the stock on.

The best way I can really describe it is that it's really disorienting and uncomfortable when I shoot it in a way that I haven't really experienced with any other gun so far. I'm sure the fact that I'm primarily shooting indoors definitely is contributing to it.

This is pretty accurate

Was hoping getting my broom rebuilt by Lugerman will help. Will see.

Also, the Astra 900 is bigger...

Had a revolver show up at 8:27PM once, that was some serious pucker factor there.

Well it's currently 10:40pm so I think that ship has sailed.

UPS will hold it at their depot, FedEx will re-route to a FedEx store. Its an extra drive for me, but at least I know where I can get it.

If you want to mushroom cloud this, I have some advice

Attached: 1487370741340.jpg (1184x1046, 468K)

Ayyy lmao it's SVT-40 time today lads.

Attached: Untitled.png (992x480, 30K)

Probably not worth the drive. There is an Ag-42 and a case of surplus 6.5x55 ball ammo that's tempting me, though. There's also a closer auction the same day that's advertising 50 surplus rifles, so I'll probably go to it instead.
No, Ivan! No!

THIS BITCH! A previous owner (probably the guy who traded it to my grandpa) had a case-head separation and fucked up the chamber by digging it out with a flathead screwdriver. I shot it two weeks ago with some of the cheap hangfire special .303 that I got from SOG before they closed, and disregarding the ammo (19/20 were hangfires) the marred chamber caused me to have to recock the bolt on the spent case, place the butt of the rifle on my boot, angle it away, and beat the bolt open with my fist in order to extract.

Sarco has unissued No.1 Mk.III barrels for $125.00, I might buy one and get it professionally rebarreled. That introduces the chance of fucking up the bedding of the stock, though. I love SMLEs, but I just don't have good luck with them.

because they wanted it and value beyond a certain function is subjective.

Favorite: K31
Smooth straight pull, accurate as fuck with GP11, good trigger imo for a service rifle. Love the way it looks too.
Least favorite: 91/30, nothing wrong with it, decent shooter, just rough, all over, and that trigger is godawful

Figured I would do the long gun side of things

Best: M1 Garand in 7.62 NATO, surprisingly little recoil and very easy to shoot

Worst: Pic related. It felt like I was shooting a tuning fork

Just sold my Ljungman. Got what I wanted for it but man, I'm feeling some hardcore sellers remorse.

The only mislurp I have worth shooting is my Radom. The sights don't bother me because of how nice the trigger is. It's gotta be the best out of any WW2 sidearm except the 1911. This sat in an attic for ~50 years unoiled. I almost shit when I saw it.

Attached: Radman.jpg (2829x1590, 2.43M)

I can safely say that my SCW Mosin is in good working order. Smooth bolt, even if it is a mismatch. Chambers, fires, and evidently pisses the neighbors off. God help me, we've got Californians moving into the house next to us next week.

Attached: IMG_20181218_122650_01.jpg (4142x1378, 2.94M)

Shoot more. Make it clear you won't change for them

That was the plan regardless. Putting in an actual range soon, instead of shooting at homemade targets set up against the little plateau above the creekbank.

I want to be your neighbor

Congrats on the Waffenampt Radom
