While I disagreed with most of his domestic policy positions, he was smart to make an attempt to reduce focus on the Middle East and begin moving forces to face the greater strategic threat that is China. He also did a very good job reassuring and cooperating with US allies, a concept that seems to completely escape Trump's grasp. He should've been a bit more willing to militarily support Ukraine after the Russian invasion, though. Putin's whole MO is pushing the west as far as he can go without consequences, and US troops in Kiev would've been sufficient enough to make him back down. Overall, he was handed a shit situation and handled it fairly competently. There were some major fuckups in the form of Benghazi and similar messes during the Arab Spring, but I suspect a lot of that was pushed by other elements in his cabinet, mainly Clinton. The man himself seemed to want to disengage from the region and focus on countries that actually threatened US interests. It's probably part of the reason why he and the Israelis never got along.

First of all, the vast majority of US national debt is held in the form of bonds by US citizens, and secondly, the easy time the government has selling bonds to Americans and foreigners is indicative of global confidence in our economy. If it goes too overboard, it can be a problem, but if people were worried the US couldn't repay its debts, they wouldn't keep investing in the government.
