Post good camping guns. They must be light and compact. Is the sub 2000 gen 2 worth it?
Post good camping guns

Yeah. It's probably the most utilitarian gun I own. Have gone camping with it all around nc. 19 rounds of 9mm are enough to stop coyotes which are the only big concern for me. It's light weight and reliable but the sights suck.
In the realm of portability, capacity, reliability, and size honestly I'd say a sig P320, definitely a gen2 sub2000, the breakdown 10/22 is solid for small game, or most AR pistols with a solid "arm brace" stock if you're looking for something with more bite and reach. It really depends on where you are camping and what kind of fuzzy niggers you want to avoid in the wilderness
I hear the Ruger PCC is a solid choice all around.
Take my sub2k whenever I go camping.
Soldiers carry their rifles and machine guns around under ruck all the time. So why not any regular ass AR/AK variant?
>They must be light and compact.
This is a subjective term. I just did a 3 day loop on the Appalachian trail with a 65lb ruck. And that's lighter than normal considering I didn't have to carry bullets, batteries and IV bags.
The hilarious thing is you may as well just be carrying a pistol.
Not OP but I dont take my ar or ptr when I go camping because I'd rather have something discreet that can fit in my bag. Its really not hard to understand.
Or 2 for the same weight as a sub2000.
You could have a double stack auto and a 4" .357 and call it a day
>9mm from a 16in barrel is the same as a 4in
That you Quigley?
I hike with my 17 inna idaho. The weight savings and barnes tsx 168gr copper solids are good for both two and four legged varmints.
Whoop-de-do, 15-20% increase in velocity. That'll make the difference for sure.
You might as well just be carrying a .357 SIG pistol.
I have a Sub 2k - they're only worth it when there's a good deal for them. I'm pretty disappointed in it. If you have to, they're fine. Fine-ish. Barely. But there's a company called foldar. I haven't tried these uppers yet, but I'm going to soon - they're $1k, and I'll probably enjoy this a lot more than the Sub2k because the craftsmanship looks good on these so far. I hope my LGS will get these so I can check them out in person, my LGS just started stocking Desert Tech MDR's - neato. But these foldar uppers are 16" OAL while folded compared to a non-NFA bullpup having an OAL of 26".

>Whoop-de-do, 15-20%
That's actually alot.
I know, that's why .357 SIG is so popular and 9mm is on the way out.
carbines have a lot of utility. for example if you're travelling with a noguns partner or wife or even kids. maybe you can reliably make quick hits at 50m (assuming that's even true) but PCCs are great for non-shooters in an emergency. granted so are ARs. but it's something.
On paper, yes. But when you look at the actual ballistic/wound profiles comparatively it's basically nothing.
>a 16in barrel gives you the same muzzle energy at 100 yards as a 4in at point blank range
>couple this with better sights, ergonomics, and less recoil
Yeah you're right I should just ditch my sub2k for 357 sig pistol
Fucking idiot
now now, those anons were just talking about energy.
indeed the best utility of a carbine is simply that rifles are inherently easy to use for pistols for 99% of people, and that's relevant to any serious conversation about self defense.
I have one, feels kind of cheap and the bolt already has wear marks straight out of the box unless the gun store fucked with it. Thinking of selling it for a Ruger PCC or a CX4 Storm.
I don't hate my knees and I'm not at war.
The Sub2K is the most well rounded carbine I can think of for multi use, including camping. A lot of that is directly due to it's weight, calibers, and folding abilities
>semiauto pcc is a good self defense
lmao
This. A PCC is still inferior to a RCC
Alright, you can defend yourself against say a cougar with nothing, but I'll take the pcc.
Had the chance to try one last week and I still don't get why people like this thing.
It's kinda big and awkward even when folded (plus it puts grease and carbon fouling everywhere). The charging lever is annoying to maneuver. There's nothing to lock the bolt open at the end of a mag. The overall length of the gun when it's unfolded is really disproportionate to the kind of caliber you're firing.
I don't see the purpose of this gun at all. If I want a gun to be able to defend myself while inna woods I'd take my Glock 17. If I happened to go in bear country a 10mm glock would be my choice or a Marlin 1894 in .44RM depending of the circumstances.
I would be really interested to see your arguments and in which way a K2000 would be more practical than a 9mm handgun or a levergat/any trail rifle.
>t. immune to pistol caliber rounds
>sight radius
>cheap price
>reliability
>cheap to feed
>takes accessories
i don't even own a k2000 but i can see why they're a lot fucking better than a pistol
.22 mag
Patrician taste.
The last 4 aren't valid arguments, you can say the same for most if not any 9mm polymer pistol.
>sight radius
I can shoot accurately at 25 yards with a glock. Isn't that enough if you're not planning of hunting ? And if you are, why would you choose a gun that fires 9mm ? If you're taking the gun for SD purposes, why choose something that takes more than a couple of seconds to deploy ?
>I can shoot accurately at 25 yards with a glock.
Ok. Not everyone can. A rifle is much easier to aim than a pistol
are you a woman?
Have sex virgin. Some of us have women in our lives that like to shoot guns, and a K2000 is a good rifle for them
>courting some thot who can't aim a glock
couldn't be me
Except that is you
I wish I could deflect pistol caliber bullets like you can user
look at the cry havoc qrb instead.
Ahh yes, the 500yd self defense shot. Inexplicably common in this world.
How are coyotes a "big concern"? They're literally less dangerous than raccoons.
I was honestly thinking one of the BRN-180 10.5 uppers on a pistol brace lower with a folding adapter. Sure, you could go smaller but 10.5 is still fairly effective and not just a fireball machine, and with the BRN-180 upper you can fire it folded which is neato.
>he's scared of prairie dogs
Wana know how i can tell you've never been outside?
What's something like this worth?
Excellent rifle, but they need to make a stainless version. I like to camp in wet places.
Are people in this thread unaware that sub2ks are available in other calibers?
It's not the increase in velocity that matters (it does a little especially with +P but not all that much) the real advantage is the longer sight radius and shoulder stock so you can hit reliably further out.
19" barrel for the Canadian version is a lot of useless metal for 9mm
Why not a baby AR?
Unless you are a giant pansy this
I too only carry only intermediate rifle round firearms or larger on my person every day. I can't believe these fudds still believe a pistol caliber projectile can ACTUALLY stop an attacker.
.357 sig is like $1 a round. and 15% more velocity is a lot. thats a shit bunch more energy
it's 30% more energy
Some of us aren’t so poor that we have to make a choice between a pistol and a PCC and can have both.
Gun collecting is fun. There really isn’t any reason to not have one.
Where'd you cop the stock? I want to ditch the shitty black one on my A2
It's a question of weight, not money

>.357 sig is like $1 a round.
Only if you're a blind Hornady loyalist or something. Three out of four big names are within 5-10 cpr vs 9mm. (proofs in following posts).
9mm really is a lot cheaper than .357 SIG (or anything else) for plinking ammo, but once you get into anything you'd carry for hunting or self-defense, the difference is generally pretty small.
>15% more velocity is a lot. thats a shit bunch more energy
So then why aren't you using .357 SIG instead of 9mm? Pistol or carbine, it has about 30% more velocity vs basic 9mm, and 15-20% vs. 9mm+P.
Pic related, BBTI data restricted to normal weights (115gr - 125gr)
(1/4)
(2/4)
(3/4)
(4/4)
Big price difference here, no idea why. Just use one of the other ones.
>this
What sling?
M1 Carbine, like 5 pounds.
>So why not any regular ass AR/AK variant?
Because he doesn't HAVE to. Just like how a grunt couldn't carry most the bullshit they get stuck with if given the choice
Finally an adult posts.
What pouches would you recommend for it?
Henry mares leg. 44 mag will put down anything
>never had your dog eaten by a coyote
Oh how I envy you
then thats even more.
Mossberg 500c (20 gauge)
Mine is light, holds 5 rounds, ammo is cheap. Not the best, but good enough. I would also think of a single shot 12 gauge like a russian import baikal or something
