The only effective difference in quality/functionality between any of those brands and a top-dollar AR is the barrel (mechanical accuracy). A $300 PSA rifle with a $300 replacement barrel will shoot just as well as pretty much any $2,000 rifle. This is coming from a guy who owns an ar made from $2,800 worth of parts and has a PSA lower.

100% agreement. Aero makes really good rifles, just as good as many other big brands like (old) Bushmaster/etc, but they just so happen to offer their products at a slightly lower price. The point of diminishing returns for how much is spent on an AR vs how much functionality you receive has dropped significantly over the past decade.

It makes sense that most PSA rifles are reliable though. Any AR that's put together competently and has a 16" barrel, carbine length gas, and a non-adjustable gas block is going to be so over-gassed that reliability is virtually guaranteed.

I Have a stag upper. fit and finish is nice. It’s great for the price. 4150 CMV with a chrome linedc1/7 twist bbl. Not bad at all. No issues with it so far.

The bolt isn't treated and that's the only thing you're supposed to lube. If you use an AR properly, the meme doesn't even come into play.

Mk18 is worth getting if you're into cloning. That's about it. Very cool gun, but 11.5 is way better than 10.3. .300 isn't really necessary. With 5.56 you can get 300m of proper terminal effectiveness with good ammo (TSX), and 50m with cheap ammo.
Yeah, if you're firing cheap shit. Good hunting ammo for either runs about the same, but the 5.56 has cheaper plinking ammo, .300 doesn't really. The only real advantage I see to .300 is suppressing or hunting if your state doesn't allow 5.56.
