I think the Gulf would be the only viable option for an invasion force unless they plan on allying with or attacking Canada or Mexico first. You need a staging base for the logistics requires and I think the only place this could happen is Cuba. Cuba is open to adversary powers and is a close staging point. So that assumes the invasion force lands in Florida and pushed up I95 towards DC

They could probably take and hold the coasts, but pushing further inland would prove to be futile.
There's no way in hell they could hold the middle states while also maintaining an open supply line.

In short, there's no significant reward in a long term invasion + occupation of the US.
The tremendous loss of life and massive amounts of resources required just wouldn't be worth it.

There's a reason Japan never invaded the US and the US never invaded Japan.
Germany tried and failed against Russia, Russia tried and successfully decimated Germany but suffered Pyrrhic victories along the way.

Depends on if they start on the east coast or west coast. East coast Id say Kentucky, Tennessee area would be where major push back occurs but they might make it all the way to Texas. If they start on the West coast then they easily take lands all the way to Texas and then begin to see push back. As far as a southern Invasion Id say they would hit major resistance in the gulf coast states.

The MidWest would bring about the greatest difficulty, that I can confidently would be a war of attrition that is unwinnable. There are too many firearms owners, and the majority of veterans have the midwest as there home.

Gaining a foothold on the coasts is easy in my mind, but the further you go into the central U.S. would be a problem. Especially with a likely insurgency on both coasts.

Like Russia, you should never attempt doing so against the U.S. We don't need firearms from the Federal Government, we have enough and ammo as private citizens. Not to mention 3 million modern combat vets that know how to keep the fight alive and going, not simply fighting, but know the logistics that are required. And that is if the any outside nation could sweep away the largest Air Force and Navy that exists in the modern world. The 2nd largest Air Force that exists is the U.S. Navy.

Invading the U.S. is most akin to fighting in Afghanistan. We are a proud people with sizable ground and resources, with near 400+ people with half the world's total firearms. Did Iraq, and the guy with a small-arm is just as much as threat as the man with a plan.

Realistically, we are not conquerable. In less you are willing to take on obscene numbers of casualties.

Dunno about the east or gulf coasts, west coast is a no-go due to geography. The only suitable beaches for landing all lead into the LA basin. The only viable exits from there are north or east. Either one could be sealed and held by a battalion or so. Meanwhile, the invaders are bogged down in 10 million pissed off Los Angelenos. It would make the Battle of Mogadishu look like a boy scout jamboree.

A push from south to north up the eastern seaboard would be insane, you're running into progressively heavier populated areas while leaving your west flank open to the entire rest of the country plus having to fight reinforcements flooding south from the massive number of bases along the east.

I understand your reasoning but China is decades off from being able to deliver troops to a hostile shore. They may be cranking out destroyers (of questionable capability) at an impressive rate, but their navy has a minuscule range and basically no ability to project. They are a ways off from being a blue water navy. Whether the US keeps its satellites and comms is irrelevant to that fact. Remember, the Pacific ocean covers nearly half the planet. China doesn't have the range to move anything that far, even if it was uncontested. You'd have to use teleport cheats to get hostile troops to either American coast, and that's before considering all the alliances we have.

The biggest threat to the US in the event of an enemy invasion will probably be Americans. There are too many people and groups here in nu-America who would not even consider coexisting with each other if it weren't for the strong rule of law, and we have a decent sized and probably growing fifth column all ready to go no matter who the invader ends up being. I love this country and respect its founding principles, but as it is now any serious challenge would probably make it shatter.

Depends on if America stays whole and counter attacks like in the case of 9/11 or if it completely collapses and devolves into pseudo-militia skirmishes with occupying invaders. Naval landings on the Oregon coast are ill advised. What's not rock is shallow sandbars that shift location frequently. The Columbia River has forts guarding the mouth, I'd say Seattle would be the landing point.
