When will usa start proudcing mecha?

Tanks are trash and not flexible enough. They provide no tactical advantage aside from being a big easy target. Mechas will be game changer, they are quick on thier feet, can change thier momentum in quick manner, they can be equipped with diverse kinds of weapons and actually can deal shitton of damage. Amd making mechas are pretty easy now we have thousands of theoretical models possible in today modren day tech, we already have reliable power source. Whats stopping us? Aside from cowardice of retards?

mechs can outrun targeting systems.

Or just preemptively strike them down you retard. People on this board are simpleton retards, the same people who told colmbian world has edge, the same people denied the possibility of moon landing, the same people who said internet will never succeed and connect the world. If the early americans had the same mindset they would be still kissing uk ass, when they started building train roads to connect america did they stop when thy saw the mountains and go home? No they worked around it and found solution and we should have the same spirit faggot.

are you 12?

The cost to completely upgrade from tanks sounds like it would be quite the deal breaker. Tanks are already super effective. They’re not as big easy targets as you think and provide plenty of support.

Never, because making tanks stand up is a retarded idea, and a sure way of getting a lot of fiddly tech blown to bits by tanks and infantry AT weapons.

Smaller robots as weapon platforms will happen though. They're going to put a pistol on that Boston dynamics dogbot and send it into all the houses and tunnels.

>Whats stopping us?
Physics

>Your crew is now critically wounded and you will need a small army of specialists to right and repair your mech.

Are you fucking retarded? There's a reason tanks are short you moron

Isn't there a board just for you spergs?

op = fag
op = dumb child
therefore
op = gay pædo targeting the vulnerable kids

>tanks are big easy target
>stands up tank vertically and gives it feet
Please never post here again.

Theres an entire board for your mech fantasies.
Theyre a terrible idea in real world.

The only "mecha" that should be considered

need minovsky particles first

in a montain range a mech could be usefull but in other situation mech are trash for how slow and easy to hit they are

Won't happen till myomer muscles and fusion reactors

but then the phone company would bomb everyone

We don't talk about comstar user, besides, it's time to remake the star league.

An IED detonates under a tank:
>Tank is unaffected, infantry grateful for scratched paint rather than relocated legs.
An IED detonates under a mech:
>Mech is toppled, majority of crew now casualties. Infantry upset that they have to right an mechabomination and casevac the crew.

Square cube law, targeting profile, fragility, special training, entirely new tooling for production, new power source. In short this isn't fucking fantasy, either pull your head out of your ass or get out of here kid yaint welcome

>Mommy! Reality doesn't want to be what I want it to be!
Cry harder, faggot

First off, tanks don't carry crew internally. Tanks carry tank crew internally but an MBT doesn't have the internal space for infantry.

Except for the Merkava and that's less of a tank than an IFV with delusions of grandeur.

Second
>IED under APC
Crew have broken bones from the impact and possible casualties from a hull breach
>IED under 4 legged mech
Legs give more clearance and act as shock absorbers. As it's a multiped design, the loss of one leg was enough to topple the mech. Crew is jostled but alive.
>IED over piped mech
Pilot injured from toppling but was wearing helmet and 5-point seatbelt. Minor injuries from 5-10 foot drop.

>Except for the Merkava
The Merkava doesn't carry troops either.

>Quick on their feet
Tanks can be faster with a powerplant of equivalent size, tracks transfer more of the energy generated in the powerplant to the ground, and do so more efficiently with less complexity.
>Change in momentum
You're making a gross assumption because no tank-sized mech has ever been built and proven to be able to rapidly alter it's direction.
>They can be equipped with diverse weapons systems.
A wheeled or tracked system can also be fitted with differing weapons and wheeled or tracked weapons platforms can carry more weapons and ammo than a mech of equivalent weight class.
>Making mecha is pretty easy there are thousands of theoretical models.
Post a single proposition, article, or paper which has actually been considered by a developed country in which a machine with a fully enclosed cockpit and humanoid shape has been suggested for military application in regards to direct combat against an enemy force.
>We already have reliable power supplies.
Yes, power supplies which are more efficiently used in tracked and wheeled vehicles.
>What is stopping us?
The unavoidable fact that tracked and wheeled vehicles make more efficient artillery, missile, troop carrying and autocannon platforms than bipedal humanoid robots.

yeah

It's got capacity for 8 passengers. In it's ammo rack. Yes, you need to take the ammo out to make room for the passengers. No, I don't know what they were thinking either.

Even in death I still serve

>An over glorified weaponized wheelchair

where is your god now

They were thinking that making space inside the tank for one vehicle to recover the crew of another destroyed vehicle is a good idea for a nation with incredibly limited manpower, because it is. The space is allocated more for removing crews from combat than carrying soldiers into it. The Soviets did the same thing with the MI-28, giving it a little clown car compartment at the root of the tail to pick up downed aircrews.

Why make mechs why not make small tracked vehicle that can carry a load of weight. That whole Boston dynamic dog thing was a waste just give it wheel s man

There was a anime really good but really obscure. It was called amrmor Lok or something like that. Its about this guy who gets betrayed by the government and his entire unit gets blamed for something they didn't do and they get killed. It has this guy take out mechas its all gurella war fare like. The guy uses anti tank mines anti material rifles the guy looks at the turning speed of the mechas.

Anyone know what its called

>can change thier momentum in quick manner,
Inertia, motherfucker, have you heard about it?

Gonna need dat dere myomer first. And I guess better engines.

Armor hunter mellowlink, maybe? I keep meaning to watch that but never get around to it.

Yeah that's the one thanks senpai

>tanks are a big easy target but mechs ten times taller aren't

Absolutely, positively, undeniably BASED and EMPERORPILLED

EMPEROR PROTECTS

>ywn fight alongside a warrior who has lived for millenia in the name of a united galaxy controled by man

Maybe mechs or human sized robots would be good guards? You know, don't sleep, no need for toilet time, etc.
Other than that, its a bad idea.

I could see something like the Scopedog existing.

They do/did. Not for any military application. The idea fails in all ways, even to be entertaining IRL. Stick to anime.

I never watched the "fight" because shit kept getting delayed until I forgot about it, but apparently this was the only time the Megabot and Kuratas fought head-on? Fucking disappointing, and we only got it because the Kuratas guy specifically requested a melee event.

If there are mechs, they'd end up like this. Short enough not to attract attention, mobile enough to keep up with an advanced, versatile enough to be deployed anywhere.

>can't even spell
>thinks anyone with a brain is going to reply to this retarded thread

What they needed was some power armor "rodeo clowns" and a live band to jazz it up. Imagine if monster jam put this together instead of bay area maker fags.

>Imagine if monster jam put this together instead of bay area maker fags.
MegaBots just makes me sad. The Jap guy behind Kuratas was a dreamer who learned how to build robots on his own time, and started selling Kuratases to people as basically a big toy. Meanwhile the Megabots guys crowdfunded their own giant robot, "challenged" the Kuratas guy to a robot fight, then got more donations to improve their robot for the fight while the Kuratas team made their improvements all in-house.

Kinda cool how the Kuratas ended up the superior machine.

>Short enough not to attract attention, mobile enough to keep up with an advanced, versatile enough to be deployed anywhere

THE EMPEROR PROTECTS

>Blasts your shitty bipedal mech from almost 2 full miles away with an armor piercing tank shell out of your standard run of the mill Abrahams
Heh, nothin personnel kid.

But seriously, until we get to the point where we can have Armored Core/Gundam tier mechs, don't fucking bother me. What we should be realistically working on are exo-suits to augment movement and reduce fatigue. Batteries are the biggest problem.

Seems like it would be incredibly slow and only useful in the kind of rough terrain where you're better off just using air assets

I think big ass mechs are as cool as the next guy but they are just not practical for modern combat. Maybe smaller power armor style suits would be the closest we'd ever get, but anything bigger is just a worse tank, and any technology that would make it better than a modern MBT would just make tanks even better choices.

>What we should be realistically working on are exo-suits to augment movement and reduce fatigue.
This user gets it. Mechs are for fags. Hardsuits and power armor are where it's at.
