Just buy a fucking rubber butt pad.
Yes, a Mosin barely even fucking kicks, I dont get where the meme came from either. It doesn't hurt, its a push more than anything. If you weigh more than your girlfriend you should be fine. I hunt elk every year using a .338 Win Mag with no muzzle brake system installed due to it being fuck you loud for your ears as well
How am i gonna get gud if I always have to pack it in after 2 magazines because my shoulder hurts?
Nah, do whatever you like man. You might not mind the recoil as much if you lift some weights, but it is just personal preference at some point.
hunting elk is different from shooting round after round at the range.
Go for it.
Browning offers shits with an internal pocket designed to hold a pad as well.
Unless you're shooting something with a ton of recoil, I'm willing to bet you're shouldering your gun wrong. Try moving the stock around a little bit and see if shouldering it a different way doesn't hurt so bad.
you are shouldering your rifle improperly. Is the buttstock firmly planted in the pocket between your shoulder and pectoral?
I once beat the shit out of my shoulder after around 12 shots on my Garand, and it was purely because of bad stance and bad grip. Discomfort? Sure, but pain within two mags is a problem.
I fire the 338 for fun at the range when my wallet allows, I have a .300 Win mag GAP that I fire all damn day at the range using hot as fuck handloads shooting 190 grainers without much problems, other than a red shoulder when I get home from shouldering it, and holding the rifle properly.
I love my mosin nagant so much. First time I took it shooting It wasn't uncomfortable at all to shoot but I had like the biggest motherfucking bruise.
I love mosin nagants so much.
I'm just shooting 5.56. I also got a massive bruise on my arm/shoulder.
Troll thread.
>red shoulder when I get home from shouldering it, and holding the rifle properly.
>shoulder
>holding the rifle properly
yeah its only called shouldering the rifle doesnt go against your actual shoulder retard
Huh, 5.56 shouldn't hurt much no matter how you hold the rifle, short of just setting the stock against your balls at least.
You do you. If you really find it that unpleasant, then you're the target demographic for buttpads. Like a Jew once said, Suffering doesn't make you a better person, it just makes you suffer.
ok thanks for the troll
I do as well, I loved back in '11-13 you could buy a $100 spam can of 440 rounds and go to the range and fire nearly 150 rounds with your friends, I miss those times so fucking much. I don't even know what the prices for them are now. I remember in late 2013 prices started going up and I left Jow Forums til just about 3 days ago.
But I would still do meetups on Snipershide and shit like that.
something really wrong is going on. People can shoulder AR-15s pretty high up specifically because the recoil wont fuck them up.
Not to be a dick, but are you just a lighter / skinnier dude?
>I dont get where the meme came from either.
people suck absolute ass at shouldering guns properly by themselves.
held loosely, bicep, or directly on a bone hurts.
Mosins go for like 250 - 300 if you're lucky. In my area, an all-matching one is usually in the 275-350 range if its in good shape.
Milsurp market is no longer a cheap on-ramp into shooting. It's really too cost-prohibitive for the rifles and most ammo unless you're an enthusiast.
Well theyre fucking idiots who should learn how to properly shoulder a fucking rifle then, stop your bitching.
I got my 3 for no more than $135 lol
Literally got one for $100, all matching on all of them but the $100 one.
I lift and I'm pretty fit. 5'10 165 lb manlet, but not skelly. I'm just new to rifles.
I would also treat them like I treat my .22s as fun guns lol Just hold it firmly into your shoulder properly, anticipate the recoil and go with it, dont fight it.
I literally missed the cheap Milsurp market by about two or three years. I'm still hurt that my dad ended up selling his beautiful FN-49 in 7mm because he just didn't know that I would have developed the interest. Now I mostly just look forlornly at listings.
you're doing something wrong. Get some range time with a private instructor, you really don't want to be forming bad habits early.
/thread
I'm sorry man, that fucking sucks so bad, I would treat my Mosins like a .22, giving no fucks taking them out and beating on them.
I missed the SKS craze as well which sucks, I did get a bubba'd SKS for $400 though in 2012
Unless you are extrmemly anemic you are either one of the follow or both at the same time
1. Youre a bitch
2. youre shouldering the rifle incorrectly
fix both
>I literally missed the cheap Milsurp market
Stop being poor its only getting worse. Ive been collecting surp for about 8 years now the moment i got outta college. learn to budget and deal with the fact you're 20 years too late to the show and these are the cards you were dealt. Deals can still be found but lamenting that you'll never get a mosin for $75 will get you nowhere
>I'm just new to rifles.
No big deal then, you just need practice. Next time you shoot focus on pulling the rifle into your shoulder before you fire. Pull hard. When you think it's hard enough, pull a little harder. You don't need to do this much with an AR, but if you get into anything bigger it'll be important. Make sure the rifle is really firm, that way it has less room to move and gain speed and your whole body soaks up the recoil instead of getting slapped by it.
For what it's worth, my AR will bruise me. It doesn't hurt while shooting it, but I usually have a mark and I might be slightly sore to the touch after a long day. A solid stock will be even more comfortable, telescopic stocks are kind of uncomfortable in general, but once you get some experience you'll find it really doesn't matter with 5.56.
Generally I would call you a fucking faggot pussy.
But after shooting my .45-70 a lot today getting ready for deer season, I would say do whatever the hell you want to to do. No reason beating yourself up or developing a flinch to appease some internet tough guys.
still in college, been putting some money aside whenever I can from doing various pick-up research jobs, but it goes more slowly than I'd like. Only one more year until I can get a big-boy salary and start seriously investing into it.
>pull as hard as you can
this usually throws my shots everywhere because of the extra muscle tension. Unless I'm a retard, a firm pull is all you should really need.
I think I was shouldering in my armpit area, that's where the bruise is. Should it be up closer to the collar bone?
This is true, I was being dramatic to try and make a point. I want him (you?) to pull it too hard, it's okay to miss and it'll teach a valuable lesson. You can always pull less hard once you get the idea, and you might think you are being firm enough but be wrong.
Post wrists
>If you weigh more that your girlfriend
This got me for some reason kek'd for a solid 1 min and 1/2
I have one for shooting slugs
Am I a pussy if I use a recoil pad?
Nope.
Long as it lets you keep the groups small, it's all good.
In almost all circumstances, yes.
However, I have a friend who shoots trap/skeet semi professionally. He took me out one weekend to his range where he and his other friends practice for national competions. These motherfuckers went through PALLETS of shells and clay pigeons in a day. They cleaned up the hulls with a fucking bulldozer. In the case that you are shooting many thousands of rounds a day, yeah they all had shoulder pads on. I thought I was a badass when I went through a few walmart cases of 100.
I have never seen this faggot shit in my life at any range
>he uses a pussy pad for 12ga
manlet incel
If you shoot a shit ton of high powered shit, then it's worth it. I sometimes get pulled to test product made by my company by firing 500-1000 rounds of 308. I don't shoot it none stop of course, It's usually 100-120 rounds then cycle to the other guy while I load the mags I shot, but its still a lot of ammo and the recoil pad does help a lot. I don't use it if I'm just shooting a few dozen rounds of stuff though. I've never used it on my nuggets at all, even when I shoot half a spam can when they were cheap. Occasionally I'll put it on my shotguns if I'm shooting a lot of clays with hot ammo.
Ha, fuck that, I don't care who you are 12ga slugs will rattle your teeth. It's a good rattle, but if you are shooting more than a box or two you are going to feel it.
>308
>having recoil
Goddamn kids and their intermediate close quarter skirmishing rounds these days.
Stay mad you insecure faggot
nice b8
you can get non bubba'd sks's right now for 400
No. Do whatever you want that lets you enjoy the hobby.
Really? Damn, didn't know that, I haven't looked at them for a while I thought they were like 750 from seeing shit from the gun groups on facebook. Knew they were scamming fucks
This
Improve technique, maybe try a different rifle it may just be a weird stock fitting into your weird anatomy. For fucks sake man lift some weight you look like a bitch.
Yeah definitely since recoil only bruises your shoulder at worst, a wound you can recover from within 72 hours if you have enough vitamin C
well i should say
you can get a chicom for 400
if you want a real soviet one its gonna be more
>I'm just shooting 5.56. I also got a massive bruise on my arm/shoulder.
Lay off the Sóy and add more red meats and green veggies to your diet user. Also this
Just learn to enjoy the bruises, it's like your gun giving your hickeys
I’m a fucking 5ft11in 110lb holocaust faggot and not even my shoulders get bruised
Weak men shouldn't own guns.
I did as well, but then I realized that I don't have a girlfriend.
1. Learn to shoulder rifle properly
2. Lift more
3. Stop being a pussy
What caliber?
I got fucking shoulder surgery in the exact spot where you shoulder a rifle. Labrum tear. Still have a wire in there holding it all together.
And I have never considered wearing a dumbass shoulder pad.
Unless you're shooting for the Dash Rendar look.
FPBP
>should I use this thing made to solve my problem to solve my problem?
No lol xd pussy retard hahahaha just suffer lol man up you ninny haha
Whether recoil is too much or not too much for you, why wouldn't you wear a pad for your rifle or for yourself if it makes it even lesser and allows you to not be so sore and shoot even more than you would usually? especially if you're shooting things that really kick. This has nothing to do with being a pussy and everything to do with having more fun and having a generally better experience, people who say otherwise are just silly
These posts reek of sóy
>a Mosin barely even fucking kicks
>guys its not even that cold you don't need a coat
>whats wrong with wearing shorts in the winter its not that cold!
>gloves are for pussies lmao
Sweaty ben was selling norincos for 300-400$ recently. Granted, you're right 90% of the sks market is pretty inflated atm
my shoulder hurts like shit after I shoot my 10/22 about 7 times
Not really. I own a Beretta polo with one sewn into the right shoulder, it's a pretty nice shirt and I always look decent after trap nights.
You're better off just letting your shoulder toughen up, which it will. But you do you, I wont judge.
>You're better off just letting your shoulder toughen up
i don't think thats how it works.
Do whatever you want to enjoy your hobby. From wearing punisher skulls to this gay pad. Be free, son.
Yes, but I do it anyways (not that retarded shoulder gauntlet thing in the OP tho, just a removable rubber butt pad). My .303 Enfield absolutely rapes my shoulder otherwise, and in a pretty big Jow Forums guy
>Bruise on arm/shoulder
You're definitely holding the rifle wrong
Buy two of them and become a gun samurai. Spray paint the Jow Forums logo or Warhammer 40k Orky logo onto both pads to represent your sworn shooty clan.
>tfw shoulder injury makes me want a sissy pad
>but I have standards.
Shoulder pads look fucking cool if you get a nice design.
aim still has chink ones rn
Boys
I think I hear rattling
If you guys want a shoulder pad but don't want to look like a dweeb why not buy a shooting/hunting jacket?
One of my friends dad basically always wears one where I live and he pulls it off pretty damn well.
AHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHH
This
I just use a slip on. But only for my 8x56 m95 stuzen
your friends with paul's son?
deliberately inflicting pain on yourself for no other reason other than seeming "macho" is fucking retarded so the answer is no.
That said you should probably check your posture and place the gun closer to the center of your chest/shorten LOP. Excessively long LOP such as done when stacking buttpads tends to force you to place the stock on your shoulder joint rather than on your chest and that fucking hurts.
Dude, a gun getting hot is not something you can mitigate with technique as opposed to recoil bruseing. Hold the shit correctly and it will not fuck you up, it's that simple.
>Bu-buh I was shooding a single shod shodgun de oder day and it weally hurded when we shod slugs
I can also come up with worst case scenarios, but if you need a recoil pad to shoot a mosin or say a 12 gauge firing buck shot then you truly are a faggot.
are you going to be firing an anti-materiel rifle for an extended period of time? if yes, then nah.
if no, then you're probably a pussy.
