If you can make the case that your life was in danger, then yes. If they're underage you're fucked. Even if you can beat the case, court costs and attorney fees will bankrupt you. Run away if at all possible, or better yet, avoid areas where groups of blacks can jump you in the first place.

Look up the self defense justification in your state. Don't take it from any other source other than the site your legislature posts the text of the laws on. They're written pretty plainly.
I know for example that I'm allowed to execute someone who's in the act of committing a robbery, or an aggravated assault. Then I look up the definitions of robbery and aggravated assault. So for example if they're trying to take my shit or even demanding it, I can kill them. If they're assaulting me in a group or holding me down and assaulting me, it passes the barrier from misdemeanor assault into aggravated assault, and I can shoot.
This is my state (AZ) which is considered pretty based. You need to know specifically the laws of your state, or you're just a walking liability and could very well end up in prison.

Also, "I dun feared fo my life!" is not a defense in any state that I know. I recall something vaguely being written in that says "of the act would cause a reasonable person to fear for their life or to fear suffering serious bodily harm," but you're going to have a lawyer articulating that for you on trial, and may still end up serving partial time, if that's the defense you end up having to use. If you fall under the specific justifications, you're not even going to be charged.

I should say "is not a good defense." It's not the defense you want to have to use, because it's vague and therefore certainly going to trial.
This is like the guy who jumps onto the hood of someone's car and uses it as a justification to shoot them. But like, why the fuck did you jump onto their car in the first place? Officers can get away with that because they're required to act to make arrests, but you're going to pound town if you try that. Yeah, you were now in fear for your life, but all of the facts and circumstances are going to be considered as to how you got there, what else could've been done, etc. Meanwhile if you were just being robbed or felony assaulted, boom you're already covered. Know the law because it can very well save your asshole.
