increase sight radius

Springs.

I have a feeling this is a stupid question but now I’m actually asking the same? is it really just cus it looks rated

Bingo. Increased sight radius is the primary reason. Also a longer slide helps protect the barrel from dust/mud/gunk.

Controls the movement of the tilting barrel.

>holster fit
>rounds out edges for general ease of handling
>more reciprocating mass cuts down on recoil
>barrels get really hot and handguns require you to touch the slide to operate them. Putting your hand a little too far forwards to reload or clear a malfunction could fuck your hand up with an uncovered barrel
>balance
>sight radius
>looks better

Becaise john browning was a fag and everyone wants to be a fag.

>cant put the front sight on the barrel

>soi the post

>more reciprocating mass cuts down on recoil
Thats not how it works you noguns mongoloid.

No. It wouldn't clear the slide when you disassemble it and who wants to knock out their sight every time you clean a gun?

The heavier something is, the slower it will move. The slower the slide moves back, the longer the recoil impulse is stretched out and the lower the height of the energy is. Here's an example to easier visualize it.

>gun one has a 4oz slide which is hit with a recoil force of 400 ft-lbs, this causes the slide to fly back at 20 fps and hit your hand with 8 ft-lbs of energy over the .05 second of the slide cycling
>gun two has an 8oz slide also taking 400 ft-lbs when fired, but because it is taking the same energy, the slide comes back at half the speed causing you to handle that same energy at 4 ft-lbs over the course of .1 second

This is why smaller guns like the LCP are so snappy and unpleasant to shoot while somewhat stronger and more slide-heavy guns like the Glock 40 are easier to control and are generally more comfortable to shoot despite both having most of the weight in the slide and barrel and one being a much stronger cartridge.

I know your butthurt, mr colt. But nobody wants the SAA for personal defense anymore.

Chill out there, """"Hunter Actual""""

Tell us how it works. Where are the 6lb .50 cals?

Why do Americans carry guns in holsters? Can't you open carry a loaded gun in your hand for faster reaction? Finger on the trigger and safety off?

So when some terry spook spooks you, you get to blow him away in 0.3 second.

Americans prioritize having both hands free so they can consume food at a faster rate than eating with one hand will allow.

That’s actually the Canadian method of carry

One time my dad told me he was proud of me. Fuckin prick.

Wow you are fucking retarded. You realize race guns do all the opposite to lessen muzzle flip right?

Hence why you see most race 2011's with carbon steel frames and grips, windowed and tritopped slides and fluted barrels but most "duty" or "carry" ones have aluminum frames, poly grips and such.

My 2011 is a lightweight "duty build" for holster carry. It is way more floppy than everything else because of the limitations on weight reduction to the slide and barrel is far more than the frame and grip

Attached: 20190205_195402.jpg (3264x1836, 2.33M)

Race guns rely on muzzle devices and weighted barrels to lessen muzzle flip BECAUSE the lightened slide and frame make it snappier to shoot. Competition guns are designed to have as little inertia as possible when being aimed rapidly at different targets and that can only be achieved by lessened weight which is easiest to lose at the slide. Decreasing slide weight will also increase cyclic fire rate and make rapid-fire easier to do. I'd even say a Glock 43 with a skeletonized frame is easier to get back on target between shots than a Glock 34, but it's going to beat the shit out of your hand much harder as a trade-off.

Get something with a lightweight slide like a glock 17 and then compare it to something with a heavy slide like a steyr m9. The steyr will recoil more.

Neither of those are tilting barrel actions.

Put a cut in the front of the slide like the Beretta Model 70. Honestly a Glock with these aesthetics would be fucking great

On a tilting barrel gun the barrel is in contact with the breach face on the slide and the bushing (or non-bushing bearing surface) at the front of the slide. Having barrel out in front of the front of the slide is suboptimal in terms of the repeatablitiy of lockup (less of the barrel length is supported between those two points, etc)

Does it have to do with the locking mechanism used by those kinds of guns?
The P38 has a fixed barrel, right? The Glock™ uses the same kind of tilting barrel design as the 1911, so I'm guessing that's why the slide runs the length of the barrel.

nice single stack beretta 92

>plastic p38s
because the slide keeps the heat in the barrel which makes it nice and cozy

It reminds me of this.

P38 barrel is not fixed, it moves on one axis, straight back and forth, like a beretta 92.

nice fuckin airsoft gun

Is 350 for a glock 19 good deal

It’s aight if it’s not thrashed or a frankengun

i carry a g26 with a g17 barrel for this reason. its easier to conceal just the barrel than the whole bulky slide and i get the advantage of the extra velocity.
