I need some help from some of you gun savvy folk. I got a guy that's gonna sell me a reuger blackhawk .357 magnum. Can I change the cylinder on it an make it a .22 if I needed?

yeah .22 and .357 are about the same diameter

No. They are completely different cartridges

only 22 short, 22 long is too long to fit in the cylinder

It would help accuracy if you would insert braketube in the barrel as well. That will help increasing bullet velocity.

Sorry man, 22LR stands for “Twenty Two Long RIFLE”, and the reuger blackhowk is a pistol

I bought s heritage rough rider a while back and a guy told me about s kit that could make it fire 357 rounds. I believe he said it was as simple as swapping the cylinder. I'm still learning shit about guns and don't wanna make a mistake.

Am I mixing up my calibers then? I have a rough rider that shoots 22 I think.

Sorry, I think that's what I meant. 22LR are for rifle's only, right?

That’s different
Those shoot Twenty Two LONE RANGER ammo
It’s fine in those

Must be shorts then, they also sell as .22LR (LR stands for Luger Ruger)

The .22 Magnum models can take a .22LR cylinder for a conversion.
The .357 models can take a 9mm Luger cylinder for a conversion.

This is possible because they use the same barrel and the barrel diameter between .22mag/.22lr and .357mag/9mm are the same. Additionally both the .22s are rimfire (firing pin hits rim) and both 9mm and .357 are center-fire (firing pin hits primer in the center of the back of the casing).
.22 and .357 however are vastly different. Not only do they have different barrel diameters, but the firing pins would not strike the right place to ignite them. Therefore you can't put a 9mm of .357 cylinder in a .22 frame or vice versa.
That's only possible if it's a 9mm RR. If it's a .22 he's lying around converting it to .357 is impossible.
You may be remembering incorrectly though, since it is possible to convert to .22 Magnum. Just not .357 Magnum. Those are two vastly different calibers.

.22LR stands for Long Rifle, but it's actually a very small cartridge that is often fired out of pistols. The name is misleading because it's only "long" relative to .22 Short, which is not in very common use these days. Of the 4 cartridges we discussed it's the smallest and least powerful.

yeah I am pretty sure that you can shoot .475 ruger out of it while using the .22 lr barrel as well. ruyeger blackcocks are really fucking solid guns

Come to think of it does Heritage even sell a .357/9mm convertible model? I know Ruger does on their Blackhawk.

yeah you just need to take out the cylinder and put the .357 cartrigde up to the hole and hammer it in with a pin and a hammer until the head spacing fits .357. works best if you look down the barrel to make sure the head spacing is correct while you hammer it.

wtf is this retard talking about, good thread with good info and this fucking tripfag comes to shit it up

Powerfully unfunny

Gotcha gotcha. I knew that's what mine fired but thought maybe I'd misread. Are there any other rounds a 357 can fire?

.475 ruger and 700 nitro express

This is now a Ruger Wrangler .22lr thread. Better than Heritage Rough Rider?

no

Yes, I love mine, I can dual wield it with my old single six.

Is this QTDDTOT? What 10mm load should I use for killing deer? 6" barrel glock 20 if it matters

Any will fit the bill, but I would go with the heaviest you can get that is either hardcast lead or a bonded core bullet

not him, but who even makes bonded or JSP projectiles for 10mm? they'd make some gnarly loads for my omega.

Federal has a 10mm 180gr Bonded JSP
