First for wood is not obsolete
Gib Kahles
>oh my god it’s on a PSA
>gas him
where can I get data on bullet exit velocity per barrel length for .308 rifles / AR10?
is a 16" barrel with a suppressor much quieter than 18"?
Well, is it arg?
Faggot nerd go play your Fallout video game
>20 inch barrels being mistakes
What a fucking meme that thought process is.
20 inch barrels are how the good lord Stoner intended us to shoot, fucking velocity of upwards of 3000 fps is amazing, user, anything else you are kidding yourself
SR15
Fuck off and go back to Facebook, boomer.
>wood furniture on a rifle that never had wood furniture
>I'm the boomer
Sure thing kid
*a deep, tired groan can be heard from the entire room*
>16" goes above 3k fps with m193 and the velocity difference is about ~3%.
>ammunition can be optimized for different length barrels by powder not just cartridge design
20" is longer than it needs to be.
>All these size queens
3-4" gets the job done.
Maybe for you. I like that deep penetration
>tfw no Mk 18
make one
>post mistakes
BCA. Nuff said.
Post your SCAR or SR15
Shame
LPVO makes an sbr look so cool, too bad its useless
too bad you're useless with a lpvo
Post 500m groups
Oh wait
>*looks at brass deflector*
Nevermind
Remind me again why LPVOs are bad now.
Anyone ever use one of these Sightmark Laser/Light combos? I don't like optics, but I've never tried a laser sight and am curious if they're any good.
the mk18 dings brass in a funny way. plus the finish is too good. the colt canada had more brass wear after 200 rounds than the mk18 as after 2k+
>didn't read his own article
Embarrassing
user cant afford a nice one is why
If you don’t like optics but you want a laser you should get a really good peq that fell off a truck and then get nods. You don’t need an optic then. Larp as the Batman.
good gun
your statement that LPVOs are useless is unfounded, given that a dude won a DMR match with it. His longest distance shot was 400m, do you really think 500 is a stretch? I'd bet that his range card has a hold over for 500m.
One stage was 400 yards, the rest of it was 100
His fellow competitors included a fine chap whomst showed up with an unzeroed rifle
I'm poor so the closest I'll ever get to this is the night missions in Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
Have you ever been to a rifle match? Literally every match with more than 10 people has someone who shows up with an unzeroed rifle. He beat out 25 people, maybe two of which showed with bad setups. Give him credit and cede some ground on this stupid point. 11.5 is perfectly good for shooting at 400m, and can be stretched out to 500 if necessary. Any further is just masturbatory, you're not nearly as likely to engage that far out, and I'd rather be trading shots at 400 with an 11.5 than CQBing with a 20".
I live in Illinois, it's not exactly that simple.
>11.5"
Why so long?
It's also paper or steel targets where only hits count. Velocity really suffers out of short barrels already within 100 yards, let alone at 400. I'll cede this, SBR a fine if you're Ash Hess shooting paper targets
>really suffers out of short barrels already within 100 yards, let alone at 400
if you get hit at 40yds or 400yds you'll bleed all the same
puts lethal holes in objects on things that will have a hard time doing it back at that distance and especially when that object has a leaking hole and a short time to remain conscious
>you'll bleed all the same
There will be a large, measurable difference
Not him, but I think it's fair to say that being shot with a 5.56 out of an 11.5 barrel at 400m will render you incapable of returning effective fire.
for sure, but the next concession you have to make is that there's a point where it's 'good enough'
Inside 100m
incidentally, Ash Hess described the 100m stages as the most difficult with his sbr
>Retard with SBR and LPVO tries to fire at me, standing 501m away
>Bullets drop harmlessly at my feet
>Return fire guided by the godly iron sights on my 20" A2
Heh, nothing personal, kid.
>Inside 100m
Okay now you're just being retarded.
Idk, rounds like 70gr tsx and 77gr tmk are pretty effective out to nearly 300m from what ive seen. An expanding round at 2000fps isnt anything to scoff at.
If you're really that worried about having exquisite effect on target then you should be upping your game to 7.62x51 or at the very least 6.5 or 6.8mm instead of squabbling over some fps.
arg has always struggled with the concept of outliers
>Army DMR instructor who trains frequently wins a local match with SBR
>5.56 SBR is now a standardized 500m platform
>tripfag catches an Aimpoint PRO on tacswap for $250
>PRO now competes in the $250 red dot price bracket
Seething barrellets can't into 3000 fps
>not just saving your allowance for another week to get a PRO over some chinese garbage.
You seem to be struggling with reading comprehension. Someone said "LPVO makes an sbr look so cool, too bad its useless." Everyone dogpiles on him for being a retard because it clearly isn't useless and he's just being a retard contrarian for the sake of (you)s. No one is saying SBRs are ideal at 500m, simply that they are not worthless at those distances. Of course a 16" or 20" barrel will outperform an 11.5" and definitely a 10.5". That said, a 16" and a 20" are similarly outperformed by 10.5 and 11.5 in a CQB scenario, which is much much more likely. Additionally, SBRs are usually lighter, handier, and easier to use in vehicles, so they have a level of practicality that the full sized AR cannot meet.
>tfw when forgot to bring dope card
Need
rattlecan it or you're a fag.
>500m+
just don't put yourself in a position where you can be engaged at those distances
>he doesn't memorize all holdovers and rapid-fire a string of shots to cover all wind speeds and errors in range estimation
time to get back on the line m8
user has always struggled with the concept of going outside and shooting guns
>Stay inside all day
>Go to range once a year to shoot 100m from a bench
>Complain about SBRs
>who is engaging who
Post 500m sbr groups
I do this except I also memorize holds with 4 different ammunition POI plus their individual tables.
Ranging reticles.
>muh groups
user, just because it took wuggy 2 rounds and giving him his hold to start connecting with a steel plate at 600m with an 11.5" gun and 4x optic doesnt mean that you are any less of a person. It just means you are uninformed.
Dude. How much land do you own
>This nigga has $1500 ear pro
bro wtf
Free states have a lot of open public land to have fun on. What are you, texan?
It's the airsoft ones they are just as good
Explain.
Here in Illinois I have to ask permission to go to the bathroom. And they pay a tax on the tax to use it.
Prove you can land hits
You shoot a can on 11.5"? Buffer tube and gas system settings?
I didn't see you ask permission to post that response.
Free men dont ask per-
Ah shit guys I gotta go the cops are knocking on my door.
Enough. In this specific 600m sbr shit I am giving user a hard time about we were shooting 600m across a private rock valley with a crosswind at 2/3 IPSC plates. Can shoot about 900m in that valley before you have to shoot into public land but once you shoot into public land you can go to about 3km before you lose visibility from most positions.
I call to the stand FA, WGWS and myself who were all present when me and WGWS were making hits. Others were present as well but that doesnt matter.
Alternatively call up Chris Costa and ask him how far you can shoot with a red dot at his courses. Because I did 500 with a dot at his courses.
I shoot cans on all of my guns that allow it.
Its a H2 buffer, tubbs flatwire spring, bcm carbine length barrel and a dab of RTV in the charging handle. Will cycle anything with/without the can with not modification. You will need some more work if you plan to run that setup on auto
>I call to the stand FA, WGWS and myself
An Indian, a jew, and an unreliable narrator
400m first round hit from a crouched position against a 2/3 ipsc
Thats cool. I wish I had friends, and places to shoot that aren't public ranges.
>....maybe one day
I'll be your friend user
Now you're halfway there
I genuinely feel awful for the cucks east of the Mississippi who have tiny expensive public ranges and nothing else.
>he doesn't have a mk18
disappointment of a rifle should stick with
The greasy indian comes off as one of the more likable trips
>Rtv
Where? Just on top to prevent gas?
>unreliable narrator
Are you implying A2 doesn't have a leg to stand on?
I know, that was just shitposten. I like the ex-CO Crew though I do suspect them of social deviancy
What is that handguard and sights?
03designgroup.com
Use red rtv so you can easily see when it fails.
He's posted his modeling portfolio but no evidence of hits at 400+ with an sbr. Just sayin
GG&G flipup front
KAC 600m rear
PRI Delta Handguard
>no balls lol
Neat... Where I thought you were talking about. Makes sense.
Those are our friends user
You shouldn't shoot your friends
>but no evidence of hits at 400+ with an sbr.
If I posted a steel plate full of dings or a piece of paper full of holes I would get a "nuh uh thats at 50yd you just claim 80000yd". You will never be satiated until you send a multinational team of inspectors to watch me shoot for several days.
Ive had them blow out during extensive full auto fire but other than that they will stick around forever.
I'm working on getting out of here, but leaving Illinois is a bitch.
I was looking at ID. Seems like a nice balance between middle of nowhere and places to find employment.
>ID
Slowly filling up with political refugees from WA and OR
Has anyone ordered from arisaka? Are they slow as fuck like Mark ? I really hate waiting.
Arisaka mounts can be had from Amazon these days
Unfortunately.
Is nowhere safe anymore? What about Utah?
They're fine on in-stock items, but if it says OOS don't bother waiting. They haven't had 600-series lights on their own shop in over a year
