I'm buying my first 308 soon, and I'm trying to figure out what ammo I should order to harvest brass from after shooting. What would be better, federal or ppu? I don't want to deal with a military crimped primer if I can avoid it

Definitely avoid milsurp then. Its been a bit annoying for me to swage out the primer pockets on my m80 brass

PPU brass is very good, sellier and bellot 308 is very consistent and accurate. I wish there was a real fucking NATO version of wolf gold.

Speaking of 308, anybody got a line on m80 ball projectiles?

I think I'm gonna get a 300 blackout just because of all the possibilities for reloading

Hit kk

I'm cooking something up alright

>I think I'm gonna get a 300 blackout
post your results if you're able to make effective subsonic hunting ammo.
My results were poor with S&B 200 grain. No tumbling, certainly no expansion.

Wat?

Also interested in M80a1 boolets, plz.

yea

People have swaged brass into projectiles for decades. He's done something... similar.

Are there any concerns I should have about buying used smokeless powder? A local auction has a few lots of half-used cans.

hahaha burn motherfucker burn

wouldn't it just tumble?
I want to fire these from a break action

La creatura...

At subsonic speeds 300 blk fmj is worse then 45 acp. Same weight at the same speed with less caliber.

I'd use some sort of fancy Lehigh copper round designed to expand at subsonic speeds

If they are really old be wary, make sure to start your reloads on the low end of things because the powder burn rates may have changed.

Penetration test of some recent reloads.

Target is a 3/8" thick AR500 plate, dunno what the rating is, it just says "rifle rated", I'm guessing level III+ or level IV

Hand loads are .30-06, 55 grains of IMR 4831, and 165 grain tungsten carbide core bullets.

Unfortunately the tungsten carbide cores are a little small, so they sometimes tumble if they're not centered correctly

And here's a round that tumbled, as well as regular .30-06 round

You'd probably be better off shooting whatever you're shooting at with a high draw crossbow. When you start designing your bullets to work like mechanical broadheads and cause bleeding instead of hydrostatic shock because your bullets are so slow you have officially jumped the shark.

Please link the carbide bullets friend

Just made 50 rounds of 44 mag yesterday for a total of 100, cant wait to shoot them out on saturday.

Sweet! Wheres you get your bullets? I just bought some 44 magnum reloading dies today

They're a custom order

I guess I could find a company to make me some if I looked long enough. But most companies willing to make tungsten rods are chinese, so....

Lehigh subsonic round, controlled fracturing I believe.

Does anyone have any reloading data handy for 7.62x54r? The Hornady book is based off .308 projectiles in a 91/30 barrel which sure as shit ain't gonna be .308
My other book used .308 projectiles too.
I've been getting underpressure signs from minimum and slightly above loads

Any high velocity, low weight loads for 45 colt, 460 rowland, or 44 rem mag?

Check out vihtavuoris phone app / website

Where do you guys source 64 or 77 grain .223 projectiles?

distance? velocity on impact? are you getting any kind of accuracy on them?

86gr round nose 30-06 for the ol m1.
>beautiful perfect round holed for paper hunting

Soon!

At the gun show.

Working on fireforming some 7-30 Waters right now

Just how strong is a modern production 1885 highwall? What are the upper limits I can safely load 45-70 too in it?

Low 3000 ft lb area

What are these good for?

Friends. I'm gonna be stocking up on a LOT of powder before the election, what's the best website to go to for this?

I'm hoping to pick up like 60 lbs during the labor day sales

Powder valley for buying in bulk is unbeatable

shit in a bucket and make some fertilizer

Ok ted

Does anybody have technical data for 7.62 SLAP?

I measured the angle of the oenetetrators tip to be 30 degrees. I need to know its length, caliber, and mass.

Powder charge would be helpful too.
