no Sorry
What's there to explain? Fixed wings mean it has better close-to-the-ground and gliding characteristics. Might be a demonstration of an auto-rotation landing (impressive with counter-rotating motors, but the wings help). Choreographed swoops like this are pretty common in demonstrations to make for some good photo ops where you get clear shots of the crew and pilot. Nobody flinches because it's all in the programme.
I've always wondered, when they were experimenting with the catch system, have they accidentally shot the plane/jet back behind the carrier?
how beautiful I almost cried
Arrestor wires aren't elastic bands; they're long cables with counterweights on either end. All they needed to do was either secure the counterweight or the cable.
There are a number of cases of planes touching down fast and crashing into the volleyball nets at the end of the deck, though.
cool
What's the point of this? Like was it made as recruitment, propoganda against norks or is it actually hand to hand practice because it looks like some warscape engine shit. Is it useful? On a side note they look pretty cool in their caps and masks.
looks like some sort of sparring drills to train the motions with some dramatization thrown in for the video. I do muay thai and sometimes we do this repetitive blocking and kicking drill that almost looks choreographed but it's just to train the motions over and over so they become natural/unconscious movements which is the goal in combat.
pretty much what these guys are doing but over and over without stopping

crying like a bitch after getting shot
maybe you shouldn't pull guns on people
The catch system has always been the same ever since the very first landing on a modified ship by an Iowan pilot/pioneer. At that time it was rope with a few sandbags that were used to catch the hook.
>10 seconds
No-Go spotted
Can someone tell me where the idea came from that thumbing down the hammer of a 1911 would ruin the sear? I've owned a 1911. I've done trigger work on it. I was in a gun shop a while ago very carefully handling a WW1-era Colt 1911 and the guy nearly jumped out of his shoes when I lowered the hammer. "YA GOTTA JUST SQUEEZE IT HARD AND LET IT DROP." I did it a second time out of habit and he nearly asked me to leave the store and never come back.
Background on this please?
i think it's from the Rhodesian conflicts in the 70's
