Saw these cannons at the Halifax citadel, in Halifax, Canada. Post any type of Cannons or fortresses. The Citadel was originally built by the British to defend against a French invasion. It was then rebuilt to defend against an American invasion during the wars of Independence.
38 Tonne Gun at Hurst Castle, UK. For reference the camera was held at eye level and I'm 6'3. Shot a 350 kg projectile ~4 miles (though I'm not sure hiw accurately as the barrel wasn't rifled).
25 shots/second, watercooled barrel, nuclear resistant. 3 such emplacements were data linked with laser and radar telemetry stations for high accuracy, but could operate independently as well (with food/power/water for a month). Each had a thousand shells on the lower levels. Introduced in 1977 and operated until 2000, but likely lost most relevance with the introduction of precision bunker buster bombs and the like.
