also, I saw something similar to that in some French castle years ago but it was a bit smaller and was more like a cannon version of a duck foot pistol and made from brass, probably close to 10 gauge in bore and about 12 barrels.

I do suspect that a not inconsiderable portion of the "14th-15th" century stuff is more along the lines of 19th-early 20th, given things like this, or the suit of armour we'll see later which seems suspiciously similar to what Ingrid Bergman wore in Joan of Arc (admittedly a very good suit for a forties Hollywood production, but still).
