if the AR stock is designed to be attached to your forearm and not shouldered, the ATF might consider it a brace. A brace can go on a pistol. An AR isn't a rifle until you put a rifle stock on it.

That's what concerns me. I just built the upper but don't have all the parts for the lower yet. I thought about sighting it in tomorrow on my other AR which is an eleven year old DPMS but the upper will ultimately end up on a new Spikes Tactical.

So I live commiefornia which is basically britain and I want to build an AR pistol like pic related. I plan on going the break open action button route but I'm just curious as to how to procure a lower since they won't ship the lower to cali as a full lower, should I just buy a stripped lower and then buy the rest of the pieces and put it together manually? Need help as I'm not sure what's legal or not in this shithole. Also, would it be okay to get a 10.5 inch barrel or do I have to stay at 7 like I've seen some fags state on the google?

you cant. AR pistols are handguns which means they will be subject to the microstamping and all the other faggotry. the ship for AR pistols sailed a few years ago in california. your best bet is to buy an already registered pistol lower from someone else who DROSd it as a pistol during the SSE days, or just not comply and risk unjust legal problems from a state that does not respect the constitution or your innate rights

forgot to add, the other option you have is to do an 80% lower yourself and then install a break open action mag lock. while technically illegal because of the new "ghost gun" laws, they would have to prove you made it after 2016 so just document your build that you bought and finished without a paper trail back in 2014, *nudge wink nudge*

you can but not legally, however burden of proof is on them to show you built it after 2016. see post here

you would also have to have serialized it though to keep up with their new law requiring homebuilds to have serials, and i think you missed the boat on the registration period so actually forget my posts. you might want to read the laws and double check but i think your only real option right now is to buy a pre-registered pistol lower. which is why pistol registered lowers themselves go for like $1k on the secondary market

Didnt they straight up make it illegal to have non serialized ghost guns and you have to apply for a sn. If you apply nowthen yo didnt have it before the cutoff. Theres was something about home serials not counting and having to be state issued.
So even if you had it before 2014 you broke some other law.

I was planning on getting a CCW and leaving it in my car for when the going gets rough. (CCW through my business and handling large amounts of cash) but perhaps I do need me a regular AR of some sort for sure and AKs are nice.
