When Hispanic immigration started in the early 90s in real force, there was a lot of discussion about how viable they would have been as Republican voters. They're overwhelmingly Catholic, pro-life, family oriented, conservative values people. The growing Hispanic population was pretty much ripe for the plucking for the GOP as a new voter base. George Bush II and Romney both said so, and they were fucking right. Couldn't have that though, because brown people bad.
Hispanics hate the GOP because the GOP went out of their way to make Hispanics hate them. The fact that the majority of Hispanics wound up aligned with the Democratic Party in this nation is quite possibly the biggest political blunder the GOP has ever made.
