I want to be a sailor but I'm autistic and don't do well in a team

there may be rates out there that will line up with your personality but in general the military has you working with other people.
I'm the same way in that I don't mind working around people but useless chitter chatter just isn't my thing and I didn't learn how autistic I was about it until I was already enlisted.
I sucked it up, did my time, and am on the GI bill now. I work a lot better with others now thanks to my time in but I never like it.

this would work better if you recommended more Jow Forums related books that appeal to the demographics of the thread.
>Gates of Fire
While I haven't read it, Marines told me Gates of Fire was really good and they actually enjoyed it when they weren't normally readers, which is probably why it's on the list to begin with. It's about the battle of thermopylae

>RED STAR OVER THE PACIFIC, Second Edition
Likely a good and topical read from the Navy's list.

>Starship Troopers
On the Marine's Commandant's reading list and it's just a fun read that lines up with Jow Forums perfectly. Infantry slang, PTSD, bug murder, ODST type shit..yeah

>Killer Angels
It's about Gettysburg and it's an outstanding take with both perspectives of the battle. The movie based on the book is also a good movie.

>All Quiet on the Western Front
A classic about WW1 which also has a good movie. Haven't read the book yet but have heard nothing but good things.

What did you sign for?

certainly got more 'nads than most enlistees if you're a marine. KEEP ON TOP OF YOUR PT user AND MAYBE YOU CAN BE A MARINE RAIDER!!!!

Applied for USAF OTS pilot slot. I find out in 2 weeks if I get it. Hopefully this very recent Iran business means that I'll get selected for pilot and that they're going to fast track me and I won't have to wait 9 months to start OTS

Pilot 94, Nav 71, AA 69, verbal 80, quantitative 52

PCSM 98

GPA 3.6 bachelor's in Aviation Science

Plenty of volly and leadership experience
LOR's are from retired or current navy and airforce pilots.

45xx

you will probably get it. Im in AFROTC and last year every single person who applied for a pilot slot got it and the year before it was almost everyone and we have a huge detachment

How many flight hours? Also, how is the TBAS, and what did you do to prepare? I'm seething because some dude made a TBAS simulator on the OTS forums but the mediafire link is dead now.

You fucked it up again, retard

I cant help that some of the military's top brass are stupid liberal boomers but all their shit on military heritage and leadership skills are good

a very good one is Turn This Ship Around under the pinnacle section of the Air Force's Leadership section

I hope so, my dude. I kn0ow that 530 medically eligible people applied for OTS (dont know how many of those want pilot but I bet its more than half at least), and 85 pilot slots are available. I hope to GOD I dont get stuck with RPA.

62 I think. But most of that is really spread out over the years and not dedicated flying lessons. As far as the tbas, get yourself a joystick and throttle, if you do your research, you can find out with exact model pedals and joystick is used. But practice games with both. Besides that game you mentioned (which I did not play I promise, usaf) , I played arma 3 with helicopters and war thunder with a lot of emphasis on coordinated joystick and pedal use. There are flashcards for the nav part online for free. And for the last game part, prepare your anus, that shit feels like a mental gauntlet. I felt horrible about it at first but I quickly learned the game and ended up doing much better than I thought. NOTE. do not take the afoqt and the tbas back to back. I did tbas first, then afoqt the day after as a convenience thing, but that was a major mistake as our brains need a break after a marathon which the tbas does feel like, and my math score on the afoqt suffered because of this.

thinking of joining as weapons technician in CAF, anyone know what specifically to expect other than the basic principle of "fix guns and equipment"?

Sorry I meant get yourself joystick and pedals***

Pussy or the army?

>pussy
if shes not willing to stick by you while your in the service she isnt worth keeping

good luck!
so combat camera? If I'm not mistaken your school is at DINFOS on Meade, which is funny because the 1 other Marine itt is likely at Meade or will be.
However you're not supposed to bro it up with anyone outside of TECOM.

I think the lists should be used as general book guidelines.
Recently Mattis was talking about his own book on CSPAN and he said whenever Marines get promoted, officer or enlisted, they get new books to read.
The funny thing is he said it as if they HAVE to read that shit. Most enlisted dudes haven't even read the fucking Constitution which is on the list for junior Marines, let alone the slew of books provided. They even put Ender's Game, Ready Player One (it's so bad) and Starship Troopers on the junior enlisted reading list to encourage young Marines to read.

I think his implication should be made into reality and you should be forced to write basic book reports on at least 2 books per rank. Maybe I'm being an autistic nazi about it but people really need to learn to read more regularly if they want to be successful.

Replying to my own post, just looked into 45xx and apparently "comcam" doesn't exist anymore so much as it's just communications specialty MOS's. It used to be comcam = MOF reference.
>graphics specialist
lol fucking photoshop devils.

Well hey I'm sure there are great opportunities t here, it used to be that there was a relationship with Syracuse University for comcam nerds and it was a lot of good training (or so comcam dudes said) so if that's still a thing and you enjoy your duties look into it.
Though I imagine it's a reenlistment incentive.

I’ll look into it that, ty

so all enlisted soldiers have to sleep in birthings like this? fuuuuck I thought you got your own room with a room mate

he's on a smaller amphib too. Berthings can get much bigger on the LHD/CVNs
At least the LPDs dont have the straight coffin racks apparently.

>open video in another tab to let it run
>recommended is another black sailor
>listen to both
>they both talk like they're in the fucking hood
what the fuck. i was enlisted and while i saw plenty of hoodrats they were the minority. maybe it's the vlogger mentality that ties into the retardation

as in the actual sleeping spaces are bigger (better?), or just bigger as in packs most people?

they get more views, which makes them pop in more recommended videos because the hood talk makes them sound cool/charismatic. white sailors always sound boring like they're in a job interview and spic ones stutter like they barely speak english

don't go into the navy expecting good sleeping arrangements. it's not even worth asking about how to get the best because you'll get the shitty racks as a boot

which branch has the best arrangements then? air force?
would signing as a CTR make my time sleeping on the ships be less common?

>air force
yes, they don't even call their barracks "barracks", they call them dorms. undeniably the highest quality of life out of all branches. most airmen won't even pretend otherwise.
>would signing as a CTR make my time sleeping on the ships be less common?
not sure what you're asking. It looks like you're asking if as a CTR you would...sleep less on the ships? If you're on the ship you'll get good sleep, you just have to get used to it all. The rack won't be your main concern, the crowded everything else will be.
CTRs do deploy but you could also be on shore duty first or potentially for your first enlistment. In which case you'd get normal barracks and probably BAH by E5. BAH = housing allowance to live off base.

If you don't want to be on a ship then don't join the navy or do join but as a CTN

Im commissioning soon but dont plan on making this a career, so should I be focusing on my post military career now and pick a branch that will set me up for when I finish after 4-8 years?
Or am I crazy for wanting to just enjoy my time in since Ill never get the chance to do some of this again?
Basically, should I be looking at a POG job that I would enjoy and set me up after I get out, or am I a fool for wanting to go in as infantry just so I can be a solider and go to Ranger school. RASP, SERE, ect

Or does none of it matter since Im commissioning anyway? I already have two degrees that I fucking hated getting, and while its still nice to have them, Im tired of not having fun and doing what I really want. Every time I saw infantry or combat arms everyone shits all over my dreams and says Im a fool unless I take a nice cozy POG job. Ive also heard about branch transferring or cross training where I could learn multiple jobs so long as theyre sort of related. Is that true?

Attached: 1547844659655.png (750x1000, 412K)

officer is entirely different from enlisted as they're managers and leaders first. the civilian world knows this and so you're not fucked out of a job, plus you likely know how to network and can get a hookup by a pal or someone who knows someone when you get out if you need a job.

I'd say do whatever you want as an officer because the core skills you gain are useful to businesses and just being an officer looks good on a resume.
Not to say all branches would be equal, but you're hopefully not retarded and inexperienced like most enlisted and can make the best out of your situation and sell yourself just fine. Most enlisted don't even know how to make a resume and I'm not saying that to be mean, it just puts it into perspective.

>im commisioning soon
>I havent chosen a branch
what

I think (and hope) he means he hasn't decided what he's shooting for.

best Marines I ever dealt with drank the kool aid but werent douche bags about it either. You have to learn to tow the line between being prideful but not thinking youre hot shit. If theres one thing Im jealous is that even the basic infantry marines have a little more pride than the armies

go infantry and try to be special forces. your dick will be huge and your post retirement career huger.

do it or you will regret forever AND your mom will turn gay and marry a tranny who will make you call it daddy

Attached: 1544681791455.png (600x451, 395K)

Army OCS if that wasnt clear by the ranger, airborne comment. I guess ill get to pick 3/4 of the way through OCS based on my performance. Combat arms seems more fun but there are more practical choices, I just might hate them

Im not looking to make it a career though. Most Officers dont get a chance at SF unless theyre captains so thats more like 10 years into service. My recruiter was saying how awesome it'll be once I make full bird colonel and I havent the heart to say I dont want that

I want to go in mostly just to get life experience and skills to be a small town cop or maybe trooper in Alaska once I get out.
What unit teaches the most Jow Forums shit that isn't absurdly hard to get into like seals or some shit? Marine 0311 I'd guess?

>go to low speed leg unit
11b?

CID or Navy NCIS if you want actual LEO experience

user what do you want to do with your life after you do your short time as officer? Im only asking because im planning on making air force my career and doing 20 years at a minimum. What are you going to do? go work for some fuckin company? only thing I can imagine being any amount of real fun would be doing shit as a contractor. like if you have an interest in the military to begin with and arent hurting for them to pay for another degree then why bother at all. might sound like a recruiter, but the military will give you a sense of purpose especially as an officer and especially as infantry or someone with a combat role.

Attached: born to feel.png (500x632, 112K)

how intense is the language training for SF? That scares me more than any training because I had a cunt Spanish teacher in school and I feel like im too nervous and or retarded to learn a new language

Attached: 1550874166409.png (356x333, 196K)

why not MP in the army

I got up to Chinese 3 AP in high school, but learning a new language isn't that bad, just think of it as an extension of your own language.

>how intense is the language training for SF?
pretty intense I imagine but keep in mind, even SF still needs full time translators from non-SF personnel and the locals.

Because being an MP isn't really that different from being a civilian cop. Look into different branches to

>Because being an MP isn't really that different from being a civilian cop
isn't that the point? you said you wanted actual LEO experience

wrong user

not him but no one knows if they want to do 20 or not before, or even when, they join.
also
>20 years
that retirement plan doesn't exist anymore. look into Blended Retirement System to learn how the new one works.

>What unit teaches the most Jow Forums shit that isn't absurdly hard to get into like seals or some shit?
National Guard

are coast guard enlistees called sailors

MPs are basically just guard gates now. You'll spend most of your first contract swiping IDs and maybe patrolling the base, but that was reserved for guy who had some time in
CID/NCIS is investigations, and when I last looked into it you could enlist as one instead of working your way to it. This may have changed, but so long as you had certain degrees you could skip over the MP process and jump right into detective work

Nah, I actually wanna GTFO my hot hellhole state (Texas) and do innawoods/tacticool shit.

if you're in the military and not single - you are a naive fool who 110% is going to be cheated on by the whore you trust and leave at home.

guaranteed.

ageofshitlords.com/infiltrating-mommy-wars-facebook-group

"For those that don't know, Mommy Wars was/is a group of military wives that congregated on the internet and talked about their lives as stay at home wives, while their husbands were on active duty risking their lives to feed said wives.

Only one problem...a good number of them talked of how they were sexually deprived and how it was ok to cheat on their soldier husbands. They encouraged, and I do mean encouraged, one another to cheat on their husbands.

Well, they got called out. And once called out, they collectively, as in group effort, claimed that they were just "trolling" and that no cheating actually took place. Their immediate and obvious anger to the situation was proof alone that there was no trolling and that they were in fact, cheating on their husbands without one bit of guilt. The archives are on the web, just read them. You'll want to punch your monitor."

some dude noted all of their names and passed the info on to the military along with screenshots of them discussing their infidelity, so that they would be kicked out of military housing and kicked off base, access to all military benefits removed, their husbands informed and divorce proceedings started.

women don't get "got" by 'jody'. they CHOOSE to go with jody. they make a conscious decision as adults to be whores and betray their men.

AGAIN: if you are going into the military and not single, you are a naive FOOL, who IS 110% going to be cheated on.

stay single. save that shit for when you get out and can be there.
also worrying about some thot can and will affect you negatively on the battlefield and will absolutely impact your ability to perform, and can get you or others killed.

I like it. book reports arent even hard

t. not successful

it doesn't have to be a college essay, and it'd be pretty streamlined and lots of dudes would just sparknote it, but it'd help get more dudes into reading which is important.
if you think reading isn't important then you're part of the problem

it all applies, even if you don't fucking deploy. knew more divorced guys than i did married guys and most (over half) of married guys were considering divorce

is coast guard worth it
which rate should I choose
I just want to know I'll have a comfy life as a civ afterwards

just out of curiousity are most of thse people enlisted or is there a good mix of officers in there. you're scaring me user.

Attached: loud sweating.jpg (426x326, 27K)

oh yeah i was totally referring to enlisted, but then again officers don't talk about their personal life much.
most i knew were married and had a good family.

i mean enlisted dudes are part of the problems in their relationships, but also their lives and pay are shittier so relationships suffer in pretty much every way possible

How easy is it to get laid in the Navy? Do women in port prey on Sailors?

did anything ever become of this? like a mini doc or at least a new article

What of you're going in married, but plan to smash all the foreign pussy you can while on deployment

youve really set my mind at ease user. thank you. was hoping to have at least my first kid before I had retired.

Attached: UNIT.jpg (728x760, 146K)

yes

yes, and I have shitloads of free time.

>not successful
>has shitloads of free time
I hope I misunderstood this

with officers, they tend to be a bit more intelligent.
this translates into their choice of women.

they will tend to actually have quality women for partners and wives, instead of some slut they met while at a bar, who they were looking at rings online for 2 weeks after meeting.

don't be a fucking idiot.
don't be some emotionally immature pussy who clings to the first chick to show them affection since joining boot camp (or ever).

sure - go ahead and get laid. be a man. sling that dick.
but absolutely use a condom if you do. these whores hear 'military' and are WELL AWARE of all the benefits, financial and otherwise, that come with being knocked up by a military guy.
they will use you and play you.

also, absolutely do not catch feelings for some thot who you don't actually really know, just because she made you peepee feel good and you got a rush of oxytocin for a few moments.

this is also good general life advice for young males, regardless of military.

also, you can hook up with chicks you meet in the military - but do not knock them up. don't fuck up their military career by turning them into a mother.
and ask yourself this - and think about it properly and answer it honestly - do you really want to knock up and be stuck with a girl who would sleep with YOU willingly?

stay safe, stay smart.
best of luck, lads.

Attached: girl grip.png (960x650, 559K)

then just be aware that your wife will be riding the cock carousel while you are cheating on her too

thank you for the words of wisdom o wise user

all that I have seen since (so far) is that those whores post in forums or reddit or anywhere is it is posted or discussed about, either outright defending their whorishness, claiming it was all "just trolling", getting angry that they were caught/called out, or posing as dudes and white knighting themselves/saying "it's not bad guys do it too amirite bros".

I think a mini documentary would be very good though. even just a 10 minute video on it, as an example to new recruits and men in general on why they should be smart and either be single while in the military, or be smart with their choices of women as well as their actions.

I for one will be showing it to everyone. if I can save at least a few dudes from this kind of fate, I will be glad.

be smart, save and invest your money, don't waste your income on bullshit, avoid whorish women.

finally got the last medical document after almost 2 months of waiting for appointments from doctors to be cleared
sending up my shit on monday and starting the process of getting a waiver
feelsgoodman

just don't meet some girl in a bar and shack up with her.

quality females do not hang out in bars.

be smart and you'll be fine.

thats why if i get deployed overseas im going to do the picture-in-helmet thing where i look at my girl for morale every now and then
except instead of a wife/gf or kid it'll be my waifu

Attached: 1545176161502.png (542x507, 243K)

>quality females do not hang out in bars.

Superbad continues to teach us lessons, even today. A truly great film.

I said successful people don't have time to read books and write book reports.
they are too busy.

someone said "t. not successful"
I said yes, and I have tons of free time.

in comparison, my father is very successful, works his fucking ass off and has done for 36 years, building a business from nothing to what it is now.
he is constantly busy. always on the phone. always in meetings and at conferences, networking at trade shows, setting up deals, and generally running a company.
when he comes home from work at 7pm, sometimes even 10pm, he has dinner and passes out on the couch, then wakes up at 6am to do it all over again.

he rarely gets time to watch a movie or even an episode of a tv show.
if you told him he needs to read some books, and suggested that to be successful, people need to read books, he would fucking laugh at you.
and rightly so.
truly successful people don't have time for that shit.

good idea.

for me, it'll be a picture of Sarah Banks
that bitch makes me crazy. it'll remind me of why I fight.
God bless America.

Attached: god bless dat ass.jpg (310x496, 20K)

It's in their nature. Long as I come home and she knows who the fuck I am.

>Haha Enlisted Nuc question when there's a TL;DR in the sticky
I have a genuine interest in nuclear engineering outside of muh post-Navy opportunities and bonuses/etc. The only person I know in the Navy told me pros/cons and said he think it'd be alright if I'm actually interested, but all my non-military Jow Forums autist friends and Air Force/Coast Guard/Marine friends are all convinced I'm going to kill myself even if I make it thru schooling.

So to the questions (to people who actually have pertinent stories and aren't AOs):

1. How come all the horror stories only seem to occur on subs, as I've never heard anything but "it's a job" when it comes to Carriers? Is Carrier NUC fine, or is it just not talked about?

2. I'm looking into IS, CTR, and CTN as alternatives in the Navy and potentially anything aviation-work related in the Coast Guard as alternatives, but what are the streamlined pros/cons of those rates?

>Long as I come home and she knows who the fuck I am

so you are literally a cuck. perfectly fine with your woman getting dicked by other men.

you are absolutely pathetic.
commit neck rope.
