I'm thinking of running a campaign set in the Backrooms, with the PCs being a bunch of neets and their weed dealer looking for a rent-free place to set up a grow after a bust on the dealer's grow op from which he escaped with PCs x1000$ and his car but nothing else.
Pic related was the inspiration I came up with after reading a couple Backrooms threads.
Any ideas for gribblies I can throw at my players? Wendigo and Momo are obvious, but Slendy feels a bit tacky and I'm not sure what else to go with.
And, of course, they could run into furrin specops teams, mafia/bratva/tong/triad members who had the same idea first, CIA spooks looking to fund various nefarious shit, etc.
that loadout is genuinely so bad it's hilarious you have basically no armor protection (stab resistant vest with no ballistic rating?) your ammunition will be extremely hard to access once the bandolier is drained, the shotgun is crap you have no ear protection, very little in the way of survival equipment, no road flares or chemlights, no comms, and NO MEDICAL SUPPLIES etc etc

Can't hear the mind shattering buzzing of the lights if your ears are ringing.
Austin Russell
It has a med kit tho. But yeah some cheap plate would do good and something as basic as a walkey-talkey and some foam ear plugs would help a lot
Dylan Martinez
This might be one of those instances where some cheap AR500 plates are preferable to more expensive offerings. I know I wouldn't mind having some steel between me and some claws.
Dylan Rivera
That bandolier is 60 rounds, plus the 6 on the shell carrier, and the Cordura vest DOES have ballistic protection. If eight mags worth of rounds from four dudes doesn't end an engagement you weren't getting out anyhow.
Good brands fitting under the budget for the walkie-talkie? And how are etymotic ear plugs for maintaining tactical awareness? Worth the price for a single pair you have to keep track of?
Yeah, the thought was that the ballistic/stab vest would be a good compromise and cheaper than both a plate carrier AND plates at the budget.
Ryder Sanchez
>plate carrier AND plates Stuff em in a windbreaker. We're going poorfag. Go all the way
Parker Cruz
> And how are etymotic ear plugs How are ear plugs with shitty protection? Why don't you stop being a poor fag and get a decent electronic headset?
William Turner
The whole point of this exercise was to show how you can render most creepypasta premises irrelevant for a thousand dollars or less.
Here's your (You).

>fuckhead consumer arguing about the best gear in a fantasy thread made for fun You're a fucking buzzkill faggot and you make everything mundane Please change.
That loadout is honestly fine, but I think you'd be insane to go somewhere like that without a stout, brightly colored rope as a line leading you back out.
>party finds a dead body lying on an old mattress, mauled by something with enormous claws, advanced stages of decay, eyes gone, etc. much later they stumble into the same room, but the body is gone
>illegal homebuilt submachine gun workshop, abandoned but with a few working guns and some ammo
>tripwire shotgun boobytraps
Don't include Slenderman, that's too played out. Also, part out cheap AR15s for them based on kits etc if your players aren't gun dudes. You can get them for $300-350 at the minimum.
Nathaniel Hall
Needs: >something to stop the monotony from driving the team crazy >some lowtech and fool proof way of marking your path. Maybe paint only blacklights reveal? >basic camping gear
weapons could be better too
Grayson Carter
>paint/rope
Good thinking.
I'm figuring the players will deal with the rest, though. Matter of fact, that'd be one of the driving factors for the campaign.
That said, I could use more threats/encounters. had some great ideas, anyone else?
Benjamin Wood
Have you considered the typical mutant, OP?
Jack Edwards
you could always look through the SCP foundations web sight for some random spooks encounters one encounter could be the players waking up to there supply's being ravaged by a bullet cat, a cat made of bullets. precursors to the encounter could include hearing the sound of rustling bullets in the distance after encounters(the cat follows the party consuming empty casings and bullets lodged in unlucky spooks. its not necessarily hostile, size determined by amount of ammunition consumed.
Justin Thomas
Well, that's the thing about mutants, isn't it? They're never quite typical.
Daniel Clark
Did I choose a bad time to do this?
Brayden Johnson
Seems fine. Just necrobump it once in a while. Jow Forums threads hang on for quite a while
Brody Johnson
just stick to dropping bread crumbs user
Anthony Anderson
explain what this thread is a bit more, not a frequent k browser...so basically you are just writing a book or making a video game? or just creating a fake scenario for fun?

>cringey le mario minus world but irl ohhhhh spooky blank room with black curtains in the station This fucking sucks you underaged faggot
OaTS-Ops and Tactics-is an RPG made by frequent Jow Forums poster SweetSoulBrother out of profound disgust for the shittiness of d20 Modern, Wizards of the Coast's attempt to dickslap Dungeons and Dragons into a vaguely contemporary system so they could get in on those sweet, sweet World of Darkness bucks.
Needless to say it flopped hard because WotC halfassed literally everything, to the point that they statted a nuke so poorly that it can be outdamaged by a properly modded handgun.
SweetSoulBrother was offended by this, and decided to unfuck it. Ten years later, he's on 6th Edition and has covered everything from nutrition to space combat, as well as over a thousand guns, dozens of which are 1911s!
It's free and can be found with a quick Google.
I'm doing brainstorming for a campaign I want to run about at least three neets and their dealer exploring spooky shit in the name of Not Having To Pay Rent.

Anyone care to spoonfeed me archive links? I'm not just lazy, I'm inept...and lazy.
Andrew White
Just google "backrooms thread archive." I'm not up on the current archive sites and went with the 4plebs link that came up.
