It’s called a flashlight

Somebody post the infographic with the cardboard VR headmount for phones and the chinkshit IR flashlight.

Soon as the ir leds are on everyone with real nods gonna see you miles away

i picked up some PVS7s without the tube for $500, did i do good?

Attached: pvs-7-2.jpg (1425x1425, 1005K)

Not really go buy a gen 3 tube now

I want these. Don't care how shit they are. Please advise

Attached: 75383.png (385x385, 123K)

Dude theres a genuine reason why.PVS7s will run anywhere for 3 to 10k with a tube, and why you got yours for 500

i bought two sets from sportsmans guide when they were dirt cheap. they're pretty cumbersome and it seems like most of them don't even work or are really burnt out. when they DO work they're worse than regular eyesight without IR lighting. they're super cool looking and come in a neat case.

Well you're supposed to use them with an infrared light

Cool but useless

Where do I get this "smarthphone" you speak of?

Attached: Sign.jpg (700x469, 267K)

LOL

Good price for housing, if 100% complete. If it missing the collimator that'll run another $250+.
Blemished MX-10130 OMNI III tubes can run as low as $300. Decent way to get into NV for beginners/on a budget. I paid $350 for an OMNI V with a small blemish (pic not on my phone).
Pic is one of my OMNI IIIs against a white wall with only ambient light.

Links to a way I can build a usable PVS7 set for under $1100?

Just search for parts lists and check eBay. That's all I did for mine. If you're lucky you can find a blemished PVS-14 for under $1500. Works well enough for inna woods shenanigans. I got mine for $1100 in 2013.

>in
They're made to connect to an internal battery within the tank, so you have to completely niggerig your own battery pack and essentially gut the tubes and put stuff in them. If you really love the aesthetic it may worth the pain in the ass.

don't remember copying "in" hmmm

>useless
How so? It works, right? Battery life might not be great, and it certainly won't be durable, but it'll work.

>$10k
>pvs 7
i mean sure, if you include a helmet and dtnvg

wow, i'm glad i overpaid

You probably didn't. All of my tubes are beyond grade B. More like C. I'm just an amateur NV hobbyist is all.

how does night vision gear work? im too dumb

It converts non-human eye visible photons to electrons, then to human eye visible photons.

It either works using an infrared light, which is invisible to the human eye, and a camera that can detect infrared light, or it converts photons (light particles) into electricity and then amplifies the electricity. Or at least that's what I gathered from reading wikipedia while half asleep this morning.

NVG it's so old school. Thermal is where it's at.

Have fun trying to see through windows.

>Have fun trying to see through windows.

I'll give you that. But I'm not looking at utilizing it through closed windows or glass panes in general.

>he doesn't use fused optics

The poors will always be with us.

im a nv newfag. any ideas for something under 500$ that isnt sketchy? thanks

You'll only get Gen 1 NV. It's not worth it. Save up $900 to $1200 and look into a Gen 2 Monocular. Miles above Gen 1.

wait wait wait
so can you get the oldschooly big assed hand held ones that do not attach to a helmet like they had during vietnam for

the ol' shitposters special

would rather use the one that came with that COD collectors edition its probably better and by better i mean its still shit.

PVS-4 is what you're looking for. I've seen Gen 2 models go for under $1500 on Ebay.

>homemade NVG
Tell me more. Post details on pic related

I have a working PVS-2, it's huge. The PVS-4, while a gen after, is HUGE-R

I should add, anyone who is serious about getting an NVG scope should get one of those small single eyepiece units and an adapter to connect to you rifle scope

It's basically a miniature particle accelerator that you strap to your face.

cumbersome and need a big ir lamp connected to a battery pack to power the transformer on the back of the helmet. Did a bunch of nightwalks in the suburban parts of the city i live in— pretty fun but hard to see much. Really just soemthing cool to have

my pair had an 8 D battery holder with allgator clips hooked up to the 2 prong plug on the helmet. You would also need to find a good way to secure those clips.

thank you!

If you have to go with a homemade setup, use less visible 930nm diodes, preferably SMDs.

Have a few banks of them with individual off switches to change brightness.

Have a camera with the IR filter removed.
Be sure the camera also lets in other colours when dark.

I have used a generation 1.5 Russian connercial monocular that is good.

10 years ago I got it for about 150 USD.

lots of tiny magnets

Is their any good sources y'all recommend to learn about night vision and such.

Attached: 1568428997905.jpg (184x184, 4K)

all of this shit is pretty heavy for backpacking plus it sounds like it suffers the same issue of making your vision right before your feet shit so you'd still have to look down
dang.. I was hoping that you could get some chinese shit for a couple hundred that was like swimming goggles or something funny like that
not a huge view distance but 20 ft or so, so you don't trip over rocks n shit

I am interested in this how do I make it?
no I need special apps? etc

honestly this looks pretty fun

literally any android smarthphone will do, but you need to cut out the infrared filter in the camera unit, which can be either very easy or very difficult to do.

>$900-$1200 and look into a gen 2
Fuck I wish I could get them for that price, america stop cock blocking us with ITAR.

The only decent night vision is a homemade cascade scope that weighs like 5 pounds.

In addition to this anyone got experience with the russian bioculars and monoculars available off aliexpress and alibaba, are they any good?

Attached: fuckingitar.png (687x472, 266K)

Buy one of the lowlight/near IR/"night vision" style cameras used by FPV drone guys. Night wolf and similar.

This but with a red light. could actually work

>5 pounds
they need to lighten this shit up for the backpackers.. I guess hunters don't want to lug a bunch of shit around either but still
if they made lightweight ones they'd sell
I dunno why they're so fuckhuge anyway with todays tech it's been around since vietnam era

like with backpacking most of .mil shit is ass in comparison

Blue Fusion

Just get a Sionyx Aurora.

Attached: image03.jpg (283x301, 12K)

>Sionyx Aurora
looks pretty tiddys
however also bulky and probably hard to attach to head and weighs a lot
I'm guessing what I'm after just doesn't exist

its actually not that heavy, but the counter weight does help.

imagine though adding that to your pack just on the off chance you have to hike at night, instead of a headlamp that weighs almost nothing
it looks affordable at least

I did some research on those and the consensus I got is they just aren't quite there yet.
I'm holding out for the Aurora gen 2 which they say is in progress as we speak. Hopefully it can give some competition to analog.

The Republic of Mon-tucky I posted video of me driving with the setup.... seeing as it records in 720p its not too bad
