so i’m in a situation and was wondering if any military men, veterans or still serving, could help me out
so i’m eighteen, a senior in highschool. I’ve figured out what i want to do with my life; get into the military to hopefully see and become trained in high intensity combat. I don’t have any talents that would help me in the real world anyways, and i’ve always been the type of person to exceed in dangerous environments. It’s what i’ve wanted to do every since i was a child.
I guess my question is how can I enlist in the military and have the highest chance to be deployed in an environment where id actually get to fight?
Neverserved, but here's how I *THINK* it works: You take the ASVAB and request different MOS's you're interested in. They consider your requests but they ultimately have the final say.
Jackson Sanders
Join the army as infantry with an option 40 or 18x contract in the /meg/ thread.
Matthew Adams
Enlisting as a Ranger or SEAL is your best bet, and given the current clusterfuck that’s been going on in the Navy, Army is probably the way to go.
Brayden Harris
Depends on the service. Air Force and Navy are like that afaik, Marines let you pick a career field, and the Army lets you specifically pick your job.
Hunter Martinez
Of course, you'll have to pass selection and school first. And in the Army, passing "Ranger School" does not automatically get you into the 75th.
John Green
how tall and what's your weight op? if you're a weak bitch, don't even waste your time going for ranger/SEALs.
be honest with yourself, this isn't a video game
Gabriel Evans
Incoming "yeah I almost joined, but..."
Ryan Morgan
what is the current clusterfuck that is going on in the navy?
i’m 6’2, 145 lbs and i’m honestly a fucking lanklet. I don’t think i’m going to join right after i graduate though, so i have time to buff up. im going to consult the fitbros about it
Chase Phillips
damn son, that's malnutrition tier. start bulking up, but don't get fat
Parker Brooks
You're gonna wanna go for a SOF job. Army or Marines is probably the way to go, but depending on your fitness level I wouldn't entirely discount Air Force either - TACP specifically.
Alexander Jones
Go Army or Air Force
Army >Rigger >Medical Job, NOT MEDIC, but like Radiography Technician or Dental Assistant or MRI >18X Special Forces, but make sure you don’t fuck around, go full on and don’t look back
Air Force >Any job whatsoever, even cook or janitor
Get a pension, a clearance, free medical, a federal job on your resume, retire in 15-20, laugh at all the wageies
Eli Miller
I’m going to work on buffing up like the other user said, because i don’t really see myself flying jets. What is an SOF job?
Jackson Lee
Whys he wearing an airsoft mesh mask?
Jackson Ross
Definitely second for TACP. You’re pretty much guaranteed to be deployed anywhere US forces are going, due to our reliance on air support.
Christopher James
>I don’t have any talents that would help me in the real world anyways Nobody does at your age. That's why you go to school or learn a trade.
Jonathan Gray
Because no one cared about him before he put it on.
William Gutierrez
>have the highest chance to be deployed in an environment where id actually get to fight?
I would make an attempt to go into one of the special forces. You don't want to be in combat as your everyday soldier. It's not what you think, the enemy isn't going to fight you like some head to head shit, they are going to try and blow your legs off with an IED. Its not fun user, trust me, its not fucking fun, its not exhilatering or badass, and many, MANY fucking people have made the same mistake before you. With that being said, If you want actual hardcore combat, and good resources, strong peers, actual planned missions and a chance to kill without some serious FUCKING BULLSHIT, you need to go into the special forces, but keep in mind they have a lot of even the best of the best to pick from.
TLDR: Special forces because you will be the aggressor, instead of driving around waiting to get hit with an RPG or IED
David Collins
>Whys he wearing an airsoft mesh mask?
Because he operates operationally.
Michael Perez
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isnt the AF the only branch that allows trainees to pipeline from basic to special operations AFSC? I think if you wash out and get told to be a dishwasher you can separate too. Seemed to be that way when I was around.
Ryder Wright
>and i’ve always been the type of person to exceed in dangerous environments.
shut up retard
Logan Morgan
holy shit bro i am almost a full foot shorter than you and you're only 15 pounds heavier than me. real question: do you even lift? i'm assuming no with that weight because goddamn.
Xavier Baker
He doesn't need to lift. He is going to be an SF walk-on just because. So what if tons of people with combat experience wash out? He thinks it sounds cool so he's going to do it!
Ryder Brooks
18x

>i’ve always been the type of person to exceed in dangerous environments
>I don't have any talents that would help me in the real world Go to school and get trained/get a degree in something useful. I'd say use the service for the GI Bill and get it for free but as a teenager you're too dumb to take my advice.
The military is very, very overrated.
Aaron Brooks
>dangerous environments >he's 18 maybe high school has gotten a lot more difficult since we've been there
Evan Smith
Don't reenlist
Lucas Smith
You're not aware of the six million mass shootings a year? Oy vey.
