There's British MTP shit floating around that's goretex material but it's a crap shoot on how it's labeled as they also had coated material waterproof gear which isn't nearly as good. Picked up some pants and a jacket for ~$80 combined.

Where is a good place to get post Soviet Russian gear? Was going to buy that spetsnaz smock setup but it's $80-90 on eBay and Amazon. Only online retailer for surplus I've used is kommando store and they dont have anything I want at the moment.

Surprisingly the red blends to brown at distance, as it was designed to do. Would recommend based on the prices its going for now. Also, the load-bearing jacket system with sniper veil/detachable backpack is pretty cool. The rule with any surplus is get it cheap while you can, cuz it won't always be

Is this the jacket you're talking about? Not much of a cold weather jacket, more of a rain jacket. Also very hard to find, good luck finding one under $100. Got lucky finding this in North Carolina. You can find the version of this reversible to woodland camo a lot easier, saw them selling for $40+ a few years ago.

There were some made in woodland, tricolor desert, and I've heard of some later being made in multicam but never seen them. No idea if the tags were just placeholders or what.

I'll take any opportunity to shill the Austrian Goretex M65. I wear one during the winter and it draws no unnecessary attention and looks fairly fashionable despite its military design. Even so, if you live in an area where you'll get mobbed for wearing a green jacket, you probably have bigger problems.

Owning the 100% poly outer version (1998 manufacture) and the 65/35 polycotton outer version (2008 manufacture), 65/35 is absolutely the way to go. 65/35 is heavier insulates better in my experience. Either way they're all kick ass. Only major problem I've encountered with them is the old glue failing on the seams, but nothing some simple repairing can fix.
