Cool, now start a thread telling us that water is wet and a clear sky is blue.
Time to break out the Aristotle and the Cicero, user. The right to keep and bear arms had been recognized by all civilized societies dating back to the ancient Greeks, and the Roman Republic after them.
DC v. Heller established that the two main clauses in the sentence (militia clause and shall not clause) are separate.
>political science class
Drop out. Now.
>Waaaah waaaah why won't boomers pay 500 thousand for me to go to college
They don't pay because of things like this.
That's a rather fair treatment, desu.
The text was likely written before Heller.
>the rights of man
>natural rights
>Anglo-Saxon common law
yeah
$50 bucks says this was last revised before Heller. Show edition notice, fgt.
Heller was in 2008
Wyoming legalized permitless carry in 2010
Nice try college shills
Doubt it. Polsci is notorious propaganda and unis constantly refresh editions to force students to buy the newest overpriced test instead of pirating.
Honestly for how clown shoes some college shit is this ain't the worst I've seen
>Jow Forums gets baited again by an image that's been passed around for years
>"Who is the militia? It is everyone, except for a few public servants" George Mason
If anyone brings it up, use pic related as an analogy. If 2A meant the National Guard, it would say "the right of the states" or "the right of the government" to keep and bear arms, not "the right of the people".
Good catch. No reason to call me a shill, though.
It's still quite possible that the author isn't a gunqueer, and isn't aware of the specifics of Heller.
I'd hope that someone who's writing a fucking polsci book is familiar with constitutional law. Don't need to be a 'gunqueer' to do that.
Drop the fuck out and learn how to run a CNC machine.
So the book is arguing that the millitia = state and local police
So that the second amendment just.means police officers can own guns not the public?
