I was thinking about getting the Geissele URGI next time it goes on sale for $1600 but I’d want to swap out the barrel for something lightweight, the rail for another Geissele rail that isn’t FDE, and the stock for something lighter. I also have no use for the charging handle. Getting close to the point where it makes more sense to blow money on gay parts.

I'm doing a dissipator build for my first AR, already have lower and lpk. Found two uppers, but deliberating on quality. Both PSA and Del-Ton offer one, with Del being about 33% more. PSA is mid length, while Del is rifle length. I'm coming up well below my budget of 1000, so which should I go for?

Quite well, actually. Rifle gas and A2 stock buffer length make cycling silky smooth. The carbon fiber handguard eats heat for breakfast, have never felt the need for gloves even during magdumps. Quite light and easy to point despite its unwieldy appearance.

Shooting at max 500 yards, most likely anywhere from 200-400 regularly. I get it that the Razor Gen II-E is probably the best choice in the long run... but that's $2k where I live in leafland. Slap on our shitty taxes and that will kill me. The Viper PST Gen II on the other hand is at $1k.

Yeah in the US the Viper PST is about half the price of the Vortex Razor. The Razor will hold value while the Viper will likely not. The Razor will be better across the board. You might consider a 1-4x as well. Steiner P4Xi or Accupower might be decent for you.

get it engraved in the smallest legal font inside the trigger guard. If you end up selling it, a sbr lower with unobtrusive engraving is going to be worth more than one thats not since m4 is 14.5

How do you like the Aimpoint Magnifier? Is that the 6x? How is the clarity and eye box? How is the heft?

Is that the new Forward Controls selector on the top rifle? I appreciate all three guns having ambi selectors. Nice rifles. How is the 1x eye box on the Leupold?

I don't see how the engraving would make it worth more. Also chopping the barrel makes the setup worth less and harder to sell.
Maybe it is best though to just go ahead and chop it and decide to keep it forever, that just isn't something I generally do.

How about this upper? Can grab this and a aero lower and stock for a total of 1165. Seems like a wonderful deal, only downside being carbine gas and gov profile, which aren't the end of the world.

I've got the 'stigmatism and they flare out a bit without glasses on, whereas trijicon glass makes it feel like i'm wearing my glasses. They're not tooo bad, but not preferable for me when shooting distances exceeding 50yds. I like my aimpoint on the shockwave tho.
