My major was STEM and it was still a waste of my life. Granted, I work for a top tier gun manufacturer now and get to travel the US selling guns so maybe I wouldn't be here without my college experience. But I would also probably own a house by now if I hadn't gone to college. It's all a wash. you will eventually have to stop smoking dope if you want to be a contributing member of society. Drinking is still the only publicly acceptable vice. Even cigarettes are frowned upon now.

You can get those jobs by just knowing the right people. I worked for Mega Arms for several years, working on a CNC and getting to fuck around with new test builds, go around and talk about the shit we made. I went from doing plumbing to doing that, cause the master plumber was (He dead now) best friends with the owner Lane.

Engineering might lead you there but my degree is actually in science and has nothing to do with my job. You'll hear this same cliche a thousand times but with the exception of specialized work, your degree is irrelevant as long as it was challenging and you complete it. I started by working for a firearms retailer, made good connections and leveraged them into a position. Having a good degree from a good school helped but my knowledge of the industry and good people skills helped more. Having good work experience is always a plus not to mention I had awesome references and letters of rec. from varied reputable individuals in academia and business that I met over the years and maintained contact with. There's way more to it but this is turning into a blog so I'll stop.
