Thoughts on the Glock 21? I’ve got a RIA 1911 I’m wanting to trade because I don’t like it as much as I thought I would when I bought it, and I’ve got someone offering a used Glock 21 Gen 4 with 3 13 round magazines and with night sights and only about 400 rounds through it. I’ve got about $450 total in my 1911 and this seems like a good trade, and I won’t need to start buying new ammo because I’ve still got about 600 rounds of .45. So how is the Glock 21 for a full size .45 pistol? I have never held one so I don’t know how blocky it will feel but I have large hands and am not very worried about it being big.
Should I try to hold off for a different trade or is this a good trade? I’m only asking $400 for my gun so it seems like a good trade but I’ve never shot any Glocks and don’t know what memes are real or fake.
thats the best trade ever. who cares about the market value of each gun.
Juan Davis
The only issue with the Glock is that the slide is spray painted tan and it looks like Nutnfancy tier ass, but it’s just cosmetic. I’ll either try to remove the paint or just spray paint it black.
Elijah Torres
That's a fair trade for sure
Nicholas Foster
I carried a glock 22 for 8 years, and recently switched to the Glock 20, which is also a "large" frame glock. The size doesnt bother me at all, when comparing to a regular sized frame it looks and feels huge but after holding it for a few minutes you dont really notice it I have medium size hands and I can hold it comfortably with one hand
Sebastian Collins
I'm not a Glock guy but I used to have an RIA and I have experience with a gen 3 g21. I say go for it. The glock finish should be fine for you to use whatever chemical cleaners you need to to get the spray paint off.
I'd say to finger fuck one or, better yet, rent one before buying. That said, if it feels comfortable it's a significantly easier, lighter, more durable .45 to deal with. Also capacity.
Do it, man. That RIA can be replaced if you change your mind.
Cameron Martinez
Glocks are shit, buy literally anything else
Carson Nelson
Even if you don’t like the Glock, trading a Rock Island for a G21 is a trade up.
Jaxon Fisher
Which glock clone were you conned into?
Julian Kelly
This and im not a glock guy, this is objectively a good trade and you can always sell the glock for $400 all day
Kevin White
>Glock 21 Get a 41 instead. In addition to all the usual longboi benefits, it has a thinner, lighter slide; shoots like a dream with standard/+P ammo.
The 21's heavier slide is better for .45 Super, but you didn't say anything about that.
Camden Peterson
Go hold one. They are big ol' chunks for sure. I don't think you'll be much happier with a g21 really although it's the better gun for that price range.
If you feel compelled to stay .45, then a ppq, usp or 220/227 would be a better choice.
Jack Richardson
All the seething in this thread. I own only Glock pistols they're insanely reliable never had fte, ftf,or light strikes their perfect. The ergonomics are meh,the grip is nothing special. It has the highest capacity for full sized pistols, parts are cheap and easy to replace. And probably the biggest reason price point to performance. A new glock gen 4 is $500 New Beretta 92fs$600 New CZ-75$600 New HKvp9sk$600
Its robust and as reliable as more expensive pistols on the market.
Xavier Gutierrez
Literally me,i want to switch to a glock 20 but it looks way to big to carry compared to a G17 or G22
Matthew Taylor
>$400 A Glock 21 gen 4 is selling $549.99 brand new Used $500-$450 I've a few in gun shops used
Andrew Miller
Anyone have an opinion on the Glock 41? I’ve got a 34 I enjoy so is the 41 the same just more thump?
Owned one,its clunky, but never had problems. Traded it for a Glock 30 gen 4 even better and still in .45
Evan Thompson
Yeah,i did this too with my first 1911 never bought one again
David Miller
G19 Gen4, out of the box it was incapable of ejecting anywhere other than between 5 and 7 o'clock, sent it in for repair and when I got back it ejected consistently at a 60 degree angle directly to 6 o'clock
Jonathan Carter
Mine was pretty reliable but it rusted easily and was heavy af compared to my g19. Kimber custom II.
Juan Moore
I'd say just go for it. I'm happy I did it. It's just barely larger width-wise. I don't print any more with it than I did my G22
Ryan Brooks
My wife's glock 19 did the same thing until we figured out she was limp wristing it.
Carson Adams
Literally happened with my RIA.
Andrew Ramirez
Just saw a used Glock 20 gen 4 for $479.99 at a lgs. I might have to buy it. But I also want a Glock 23 gen 3 I've been wanting it for the longest but locally they want $459-$499 for a Used G23 that's too high even for a Glock.
Landon Bailey
I got rid of a 1911 in favor of a G21 It was a good call I have since converted it to 460 Rowland and couldn’t be happier Handlets need not apply
Zachary Cruz
Unless you are going for concealed carry or focused on solely CQB activities, the longer the slide the better.
You get better sight radius, more muzzle velocity, a better trigger, and less muzzle flash with certain brands of ammo.
Julian Torres
Lol. I remember one of my friends new to Guns is sold a Glock based on the gun shop owners opinion(blue label dealer and glock authorized dealer). Well first day out the gun kept jamming, wired ejection, failures left and right. Hmmm I think I got it. I shoot it and it runs flawlessly same ammo same mags. Yeah its always Limp Wristing
Asher Hughes
What are the ballistics on .460 rowland??
Nathaniel Torres
>actually bought a quality 1911 for 1100 >Never jammed on brass >Never jammed on steel case >Never jammed after being stored in a vat of motor oil for weeks and then being taken out and shot 15 min later with zero attention IDK, im pretty happy with mine, that being said its really just a range toy for me.
Grayson Peterson
So the gun worked fine, you're just being a nitpicky faggot about the ejection being 10 degrees more than you like. Oh and that glock would eject 3 or 4 o clock everytime if you weren't limp wristing it like a söy hipster faggot. Maybe stick to some pussy pistol like a cz, once you hit the gym and develop some arm strength maybe you can be a man and use the glock. Till then stick with a feminine gun that is forgiving of your womans grip lol man up
Evan Richardson
They're reliable, but not Glock reliable. Also fuddyfuve, low capacity, heavy, single action only so has to be carried on Safe, and outdated.
Colton Gray
Early gen4s had well known BTF issues outside of limp wristing that were induced by ejector changes(among other things) glock made with that iteration, it was a kinda a big deal when they came out. >Yeah its always Limp Wristing Really just shows that you don't know much about glocks. Various models have had issues over the years.
Robert Sanders
>NOOOOOO YOU CANT SHOOT .40 S&W OR .357 SIG ITS GOT TOO MUCH RECOIL!
Brody Martinez
Almost on par with moderate 44Mag
Dylan Jenkins
Are you the guy in the Jow Forums fantasy writefag thread writing the story about almost getting killed by a sniper fucking werewolves, shooting a bunch of black people, and getting hired by a rich kid to find him a catgirl girlfriend?
Adam Gonzalez
This was a Glock 26 gen 4,brand new I was there when he bought it. Only issues were Gen 1 Glocks in the 80's and Gen 4 when they very first released and that was the new recoil spring causing those malfunction. Glock offered free service and repair, but that problem is non existent now.
Jose Diaz
Lel caliber was never brought up, I own a 10mm glock too, regardless of caliber you cant be a limpwristing snowflake such as yourself if you wanna run a glock that's the bottom line. You're mad cause I'm right
More manly than your jamomatic bitch gun with dampened recoil lol. Considering that most western spec ops, a fuck ton of militaries and law enforcement use glock, you're saying their not manly enough for you? You type this from your chair as an out of shape fatass who's never played sports competitively, likely never been laid, never served, basically you've done nothing masculine in your life so you have to pretend your womans pistol is manly to cope. Keep larping
Isaiah Clark
>.40 chamber support issues, slowly changed until their final form in the late 2000s so glock could save face >.40 WML syndrome, glock claims fixed on the gen 4, serious LEA users still report issues >general slight .40 reliability issues compared to other calibers >gen 4 9mm ejection issues with early guns, not all of which were fixable by glock >.357 sig follower/spring rate induced feeding issues, supposedly fixed after 3 renditions of follower type >10mm reliability issues with heavy for caliber loads All off the top of my head. The 9mm and .45 offerings have been GTG with few exceptions, but acting like glocks are perfect in terms of reliability just indicates a lack of familiarity with the design.
Isaac Gutierrez
Everything is manly when you decide it is. Only insecure tiny-dick cucks let themselves be pushed around by what other people think is manly.
I'd go for it desu. I recently picked up a gen4 20 which has the same frame as the 21 and I love it. Being that it's a gen4 you can use the backstraps to change the grip to your liking, but I don't use any of them because I like the nice slim grip, and I have largish hands.
Christopher Torres
No, but I wish I were
Ian Ward
Try it. There's already a story about killing an owl bear with a shotgun, killing a bunch of elves as Floridaman, "killing" a lich with a rocket launcher and a bunch of FALs and 7.62 machine guns, and some stuff that looks like "my life with a gunsmith fantasy waifu" from namefags.
Brandon Miller
I had the 21 for a few years. I switched it for a 41 mos. Longer barrel helps with some of the 255 grainers I shoot. Then replaced the g21 with a g20 with a comp.
I edc the g41 and love it. Slide is thinner so it fits all G34 g 35 holsters.
Luke Wilson
I’ve got a 48 for carry. I have a 34 I enjoy shooting and I’ve considered a 1911 but then found out they make the 41. So lighter weight and more capacity.
All the seething in this thread. I own only Glock pistols they're insanely reliable never had fte, ftf,or light strikes their perfect. The ergonomics are meh,the grip is nothing special. Anyone here actually own a .460 rowland glock 21? I'd love to see some pics and hear an ownership report. I'd be 100% on board if I could reliably shoot acp, super, and rowland in the same gun reliably but I know that's a pipe dream
Robert Smith
Should be able to remove that with rubbing alcohol. If not, try acetone. Spraypaint is nowhere near as durable as the finish on a Glock. Depending on what Gen 4 you have you might have a shitty factory finish anyway. But, if you get all the spray paint off and it still looks like shit send it back to Glock and they'll warranty the slide for free. My early Gen 4 19 got a ton of holster wear, it was USA made. My second later Gen 4 was Austrian and I never had a problem. My Gen 5 Glocks all have outstanding finishes. 3000 rounds on my 17 and the only wear is on barrel itself where the slide makes contact. They made the tolerances tighter on the Gen 5 which is apparently why there's more friction and the finish wears at friction points. Carry it every day in SW FL heat and humidity and haven't had any issues with oxidation or anything. Rarely even clean the thing. Have had no malfunctions.
Noah Martin
Yes It is great Used a LWD barrel, brake, spring and spring guide. Literally all you need. I got all my parts on clearance for around $200 if I remember right. I got the 3 heaviest recoil springs from like 19lbs(?) to 24lb(?). You have to tinker with the springs and slowly load up so the ejection pattern is right. There will be a small range that will work, but you are not gunna get 45ACP and a +900ftlb 460R load to both cycle properly with the same spring, especially with the big ass brake. If 45ACP is cycling it, 460R will be hammering the fuck out of your slide and frame. I just keep the factory spring and guide close at hand for ACP and Super level loads, and the max spring for Rowland
>It has the highest capacity for full sized pistols Springfield XDMs have 19/16 rounds vs. Glock's 17/15. (9mm/.40)
Not recommending them, as I don't particularly like Springfield as a company or the XDM, but your assertion is false.
Isaiah Jackson
Still doesn't change the fact Glocks hold their value. Glock gen 4 New release$550 now$550 S&W M&P 2.0 New release$850 now $350 Springfield Armory XD-9 New release$1050 now $300 Taurus G2C new release $499 vs $99
See what I'm saying.
David Williams
Yes, I see that you're saying that factually incorrect assertions don't matter because you have other arguments too.
Sebastian Perry
That's a pretty fat muzzle break. Do you have to use a lighter than stock recoil spring for shooting low pressure plinking acp?
Evan Adams
No. ACP ammo is such low pressure the brake hardly does anything with it.
Nathaniel Ramirez
>Nig-Sauer No thanks nigga.
Zachary Cruz
>.40 Keks.jpg
Ian Morgan
Glocks have shorter frames and on top of that Glock 19X holds 19,so still highest cap pistol
Owen Carter
That's a good trade, but the Glock 21 has a massive grip, just so you know.
Nathaniel Robinson
>Glock 19X holds 19 Yeah, and the Glock 43X holds 43!
Asher Garcia
Except it actually does hold 19
Isaiah Perry
>It holds 19 with the +2 floorplate! No shit, it also holds 33 if you put a giggle stick in. You're being disingenuous; practically every pistol on the market accepts a variety of extended magazines and capacity-adding floorplates. Just because they include two in the box with the 19X doesn't mean the native capacity isn't still 17 rounds.
Mason Cooper
It’s 19 rounds because the magazines and floor plates match the special color of the gun therefor 19
Tyler Murphy
A gray frame gen 4 Glock 21 is the only gun I really regretted selling. It was remarkably accurate, but I stupidly decided to consolidate all my pistols to 9mm, and traded it for a G17 that I couldn't group for shit with.
