ar10 or fal?
Everybody has hobbies.
Reminder that Knights Armament is irrelevant.
ARG3
farl
Will you please take a picture of this build with a magazine in and with a nice background. Honestly just want it for my misc AR folder.
Do you have a D60 drum?
AR10 for sure. Better ergos, better accuracy capability.
Imagine sending out 3 MOA barrels with your $2000 AR
>You do know you can F1 before you're 21 right?
I am 21 wgws. That's how I bought lowers.
Dude you’re only 21? Don’t lie to me
Yes Im turning 22 soon.
>Ash
>Ever owning any NFA items
Would make it too hard for him to sell later when he needs money to buy more McDoubles.
That is if he could even afford $200 for a tax stamp.
Oh happy birthday
1.5 MOA was a stretch, 3 MOA isn’t true
Screenshoting this for when I get my stamp.
>Show me cross section spec drawings of the three systems and I could be convinced.

Can I use a non offset, absolute CW red dot as a back up in place of irons?
You put Comp m5 on a QD 1.93 Mount, with a T2 behind it on an absolute. If the m5 goes down for whatever ungodly reason, pulling off a QD has got to be just as fast or faster than flipping up irons. Boom. Same height as buis, but much better. I’m a genius.
only picture i have on hand but it could use a better background.
Got a little over 2 months but thanks user.
>use dual, cowitness RMR’s as replacement front and rear buis. Much better accurate.
Unironically expected that you went to the store with your pops or something.
Quality post
>red selector
Ew fucking why
Saved it. Please take another eventually. Unique build.
You felt the need to post 5 pictures in one thread, in celebration of buying two lowers, one of which is the worst and cheapest lower you can buy. Buying multiple Aero lowers is just another day for most people, but you're so poor you are proud of it and feel the need to show them off.
If you can actually scrape together $200 for a tax stamp from whatever low income poverty bullshit you do for a living I'd be surprised, even ignoring the fact that I don't think you would ever SBR anything because then you wouldn't be able to easily sell it soon after completing it.
...do you have a PKM?
>your pops or something.
Ash's dad is dead.
>tfw love the short and chunky look of SNRs but can't get an SBR as my first rifle as I plan to hunt with it and 5.56 is garbage beyond 75 yards at sub 14.5" barrel lengths
Are there any rounds that are capable at ~100 yards out of a ~8 inch barrel?
What optic for the 16 inch recce build?
>SNR
I mean SBR
1.0 is with match
1:5-2 is with plinking
Not right now
>Quality post
The switchblock is the only one I can find without some sort of internal detent spring/ball that could be seized by carbon. Ive had issues seizing external detent regulators under extreme round counts so I have exactly zero desire for an internal detent regulator, especially something extremely granular. I want a regulator where I can choke it down for suppressed use and an adverse position for dirty/unsuppressed use.
>5.56 is garbage beyond 75 yards at sub 14.5" barrel lengths
Dont lie to yourself user
How hard are they do get for someone like you? Obviously they’re a bitch with export/import laws. But I’m not privy to the finer details of obtaining one for funnies.
Bro just run an adjustable BCG
A quality 1-8.
What optic should I put on a 14.5” pistol.
458 socom
I dont think I would want one
They are just money
I just run a SCAR which is exactly what I want, but im always trying new things. Adjustable BCG doesnt solve the root issue or load it forward.
>Dont lie to yourself user
I've only used shotguns in my life and that's what people around me had always said, plus most data I've seen shows most loads dip below 2500 at anything lower than 12", let alone the stubby boi I wanna make at ~8" which would bring it down to nigh 2000fps. I dunno about you but a 55 grain bullet going at 2k fps doesn't sound particularly effective, especially when it goes out to 100 yards.
If, though, people have some experience with hunting with sbrs and say I'm a dummy then fair enough, this is all based off heresay and personal research anyway.
I'm going to pick up a Toolcraft BCG. Is NiB worth the extra 30 dongs or is it a meme?
>I forgot how much heavier my 14.5 is compared to my 11.5.
Budget?
Vortex Razor Gen II E Mrad 1-6x in a Scalarworks
I was just about to ask what in particular about the designs makes the switchblock come out on top.
Quality 1-4x of Acog with a red dot
you also ran emy's boy ass which is exactly what you want, but you're always trying to fuck and get fucked by more men.
>Scalarworks
big gay. why not guys lee or adm?
Geissele mounts are overpriced trash. They're not even QD, not even light, and the company is poor on several fronts. ADM mounts are reasonable value, but the RTZ isn't hot and neither are the weights. They can be found pretty cheap though.
You're unironically the legit gay here.
>If, though, people have some experience with hunting with sbrs and say I'm a dummy then fair enough, this is all based off heresay and personal research anyway.
A 75gr gold dot expands out to 1800ish FPS which means your 11.5" AR will be fine out to 300m. Doesnt have to be a gold dot but most quality defensive loads work fine between 0 and 300m.
>I was just about to ask what in particular about the designs makes the switchblock come out on top.
I just want an AR with a SCAR gas regulator, complete with a jet system.
>why not guys lee or adm?
You need dem ounces to counteract the razor
>Unironically expected that you went to the store with your pops or something.
No he is gone and my mom wouldn't buy them anyway since she doesn't want to even have her info on the background checks.
>They're not even QD,
QD is if you are too poor to afford multiple optics
Can someone explain the hate that the BAD lever gets?
The name tells you enough
>Can someone explain the hate that the BAD lever gets?
poorfag and unaesthetic substitute for buying a ambi lower
The 416 isn't close? IMO piston isn't necessary and a DI system with adjustable gas could be very good. Suggestions for 11.5"? Also do you think Colt is gone for good?
QD is important for stowage or in the event of an optic failure.
Geissele legit requires tools to get the thing on and off correctly.
It is an ad hoc solution which is not good on engineering principle, but it does increase the functionality, and it is rather inexpensive. I've handled and messed with them, but never run them, and they do have a bit of wobble. From what I've read the Phase 5 and PMM levers lock up in a far more solid manner. At the same time though I've also heard conjecture that too much mass added to the bolt catch lever combined with a weak magazine spring or other gunk can cause failures to lock back on empty mags.
Many people argue that the BAD lever is a safety hazard because it puts a control inside the trigger guard. IMO the actual control, the point of contact that you make with the device to "actuate" it, is actually outside the trigger guard, and the mechanics of said actuation are such that your motions are perpendicular to the motion required to pull the trigger. Furthermore a lot of firearms have controls around or in the trigger guard. The HK433, Bren 2, ARX 100, and POF Revolution are the ones I have off the top of my head.
Some people claim the lever is a snag hazard but that seems HIGHLY suspect since it adds literally millimeters are most to the profile of the rifle.
I intend to try the PMM one out eventually.
Alternatively there are a lot of AR lowers out there now that have BAD lever functionality built in, so the ad hoc nature is eliminated.
all of those levers wobble because theyre attached to a bolt catch that wobbles back and forth.
So it's bad for Instagram flexing, got it
I figured I might as well try one because of how cheap they are. Kind of hurts buying another lower when I just have the one rifle but it might be worth it for the most streamlined solution. Food for thought anyways
>The 416 isn't close?
416 is the closest in the sense that it vents gas forward but its missing a selector and adjustable jets to allow it to be tuned
>IMO piston isn't necessary and a DI system with adjustable gas could be very good.
Have you shot a DI gun to failure? In my experience a good DI gun will go 800-1000ish when suppressed before it chokes and needs lube/cases punched out.
>Suggestions for 11.5"?
11.5 Spikes LW CHF + 10.75" URX4 + TC BCG
> Also do you think Colt is gone for good?
Not for "GOOD" but for years.
Literally just checked all my ARs
Bolt catch is under constant tension and has no wobble.
As per the articles I've read on the variety of different BAD levers out there, the wobble of the magpul offering is due to the single screw used to attach it and the tolerance in the "cutout" in the lever were the release paddle fits in. Other levers have multiple screws and or less tolerance in this cutout, removing the wobble in question.
>food for thought
Try out the PMM one and report back
>colt
>gone for years
Kek. False. Wait for a dem to win and start preaching more gun control. Colt will silently but surely spit out an ass load of rifles at sandy hook prices.
When is your SR15 coming faggot
i might be getting an ar soon any ideas on what i should get to start out on?
i like my ak but the ammo is starting to get hard to find if i dont order it online
The Phase 5 EBRV2 helps remedy that. But I still don't like them as a solution compared to the LMT MARS.
Is larue really "JUST AS GOOD" as geissele?
BCM upper. Aero lower.
Actually know, get the stupidest lower you can find from spikes or PSA. If it’s PSA make sure to buy it stripped and get a separate parts kit.
Its better
Ask KAC
Maybe, but they will wait a while to make limited expensive runs of a couple items
We’ve got at least two years before we see new Olts again.
Then Pocahontas will win, and they’ll shit out a metric fuck ton of bottom bitch 6920’s for $2000/pop.
>ask KAC
yeah ok
Your wallet hurting?
Colt needs to leave CT for somewhere with better union laws.
Geissele wishes they were just as good as LaRue.
BCM Upper, Aero or PSA lower.
Magpul Pro irons. Save for a good optic.
>Your wallet hurting?
No, a company out of IL/IA fucked up a bunch of gas blocks so they have to pull apart rifles and ensure they are in spec so KAC is backed up right now.
Based Karl
>Colt needs to die
fixed thank me later m8
Colt is unbelievably anti 2a. They don’t give a shit.
Budget? Purpose of use?
LaRue is better than Geissele for many things.
If you want to turn your AR into Hitler's Buzz Saw MG42 you gotta go with Geissele though.
Projection of 6920 values over the course of the next 2-4 years?
F4 times got me thinking about a Saker 556K Key Mo
Admitted newfag here. New to guns, but not new to Jow Forums at least.
Anyways, i have a question for you guys.
Theres a gun store near me (ma and pa owned) and they manufacture their own AR’s.
He’s an older guy, but after talking to him i can tell he’s not a typical retard boomer. (Same goes for his wife, she’s fucking based and knows firearms just as well as he does)
Anyways, in all other aspects of my life, i like to support the “home team” by buying from local businesses rather than big companies. SO, my question is, do you think his AR’s would be any good? What are some things i could look for to tell if they are any good?
Im not sure if he starts from nothing and builds them all himself, or if he just starts with a lower and then tacks on pre-existing parts, but either way if you guys have any tips or things to look out for itd be much appreciated.
Can you explain to me what's going on with that optic setup? Is this just a visual shitpost?
Yes
Karl is bad man
>Projection of 6920 values over the course of the next 2-4 years?
Do I look like a bloomberg terminal to you?
>F4 times got me thinking about a Saker 556K
Nice
> Key Mo
Not nice
>Is this just a visual shitpost?
Yes
Giving us his company name would be a good start.
Highly, highly unlikely that he actually builds any components in house.
How many rounds do you guys shoot on an average range visit?
I swear to got if my 14.5” KAC is overgassed because LMT fucked up the gas block.
500 day
break for dinner
500 night
>He bought?
>Overgas it
Where you fighting? In the desert, because that's a lot of FDE.
Anyway get yourself a good holosun red dot.
Welcome!
It is unlikely that they are truly manufacturing their own ARs, especially in this day and age. Most likely they're building rifles from parts and buying receivers from actual manufacturers. This doesn't mean that the guns they're putting together are bad, but it does mean that most likely you can put together something just as good if not better for less money, depending on how mechanically inclined you are and what tools you have.
Most importantly it would be good to know the build specs. What brand lower, what brand upper. What brand barrel with what finish and manufacturing specs. What brand rail, what brand BCG etc.
These days AR parts can be had for VERY cheap. We're talking enough parts to complete a gun for $330 or so. Someone with a bit of mechanical aptitude, a vise, and some hand tools can throw the gun together in 45 minutes or so, and then sell it for $650-$750, and that is often what you're seeing at local shops like this.
What is the rough pricepoint they're asking? Any idea on the parts?
Good on you for wanting to support local, but most here in the general will suggest that you build yourself, or if you want to support them, buy a nice factory gun through them with them acting as the dealer. Do you know what AR brands they deal?
>visual shitpost
It is a legit optic setup. Acog doesn't have a 1x, and instead of running flip up back up irons I've offset an Aimpoint T2 so I have a 1x red dot to use for close range work. The setup works well, but I don't like how it looks. I'm considering trying the piggybacked RMR on top of the Acog. If I can get roughly the same functionality I'll go that route.
Average? 300 or so.
On a given range visit I like to keep up proficiency with at least a couple of guns. Sometimes I'll throw the AKs into the mix too just to remind myself how much they fuck suck.
Maybe he should buy a 80% and have the guy machine it for him.
>lower comes in
>nics delayed
Nics delayed as in you got flagged?
Why's G96 smell so good?
Give up your guns, felon
>Not nice

Is there any reason to go with a DD lightweight barrel over a Faxon Gunner? I just want an accurate, long lasting, lightweight barrel.
Hmm. Ill have to go back there and get those details. He didnt go into all that because i was primarily looking at shotguns while i was there. The ARs just came up in conversation.
Maybe tomorrow ill head down there and report back with the deets and let you guys judge from there.
Now, you were on the mark with the prices though, his cheapest one was $645, so maybe he’s doing exactly what you described.
Speaking of, what would be a good way to learn how to build my own guns from parts? Or a parts list of trusted manufacturers?
Im pretty decent with cars, so i know some of the more nuanced aspects of mechanics (torque specs, effects of vibration, part/brand compatibility, expansion of metals/gases), but i dont know much at all pertaining to the inner workings of a firearm and how they all fit and work together. So i dont think i could safely disassemble one and put it back together, or assemble one from parts as of now.
Thank you for the friendly welcome btw, was kinda expecting to be told to fuck off lmao
>tfw lmt and kac are the same company
It smells like bubblegum or somethjbg
Apparently not, because KAC no longer uses LMT stocks.
She's the only actually good trip. Very helpful lass
DD LW will be CHF CL
It will simply be a more durable longer lasing barrel than the Faxon gunner. Faxon gunner will be a tiny bit lighter, so the DD will hold up to longer strings of shooting better in terms of groups opening up. The DD is the better barrel. Also consider the BCM BFH CHF ELW
You're looking for a 14.5" right?
>learn how to build
When I first started building ARs I used this guys videos:
youtube.com
He has good information density and doesn't go too slow, while showing good detail.
>trusted manufacturers
A lot depends on budget. Where you're looking at people like BCM and Aero precision.
>cars
Perfect
You really have nothing better to do?
Details on this? I've heard a lot of KAC stuff is made by LMT
Do any of you guys handload?
If so, have you ever tried anything bigger than a 77gr projectile?
I'd be going with a DD lightweight or BCM ELW if you want a lightweight barrel. I've heard good things about the Faxon Gunner barrels but I'd be more inclined to explore other options unless budget was a priority.
