Can someone explain the difference between these two? Is one better to stick in a suppressor than the other?
Flash hider vs Muzzle break
flash hiders are pretty good if you are planning on shooting without the can sometimes, or don't need a sacrificial baffle
brakes are pretty good at being sacrificial baffles on things like SBRs, reducing wear on the suppressor itself. That said, never shoot a braked SBR without a can..
A flash hider is designed to decrease the rapport of your rifle by redirecting the gases, normally forward. A compensator, or Muzzle Brake's goal is to reduce recoil/muzzle climb typically at the expense of an outrageous flash and noise redirection. Although some compensators do also function as Flash hiders and also redirect the flash and noise forward, like the Troy Claymore.
So if I plan on buying a suppressor go with a break?
yes, but remember the NFA clearance times. You'll have only a brake on that rifle until the suppressor clears. It would be best to install it after getting your stamp.
I shoot indoors frequently, so I am looking to a warden too
I was also curious about which to use in a can. I always figured since brakes normally make the gun loud as shit, wouldn’t it still add MORE dB when using a suppressor than if there were a flash hider installed?
>never shoot a braked SBR without a can
Fuck you and your ears.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>never shoot a braked SBR without a can
why is that?
>wouldn’t it still add MORE dB when using a suppressor
Nope.
Brakes don't magically make more gases come out the barrel of a gun. Instead they make the gun SEEM louder because they redirect some of the muzzle blast back towards the shooter. None of that matters once the can is installed. A given gun + can sounds the same regardless if the can is mounted with a brake or mounted with a flash higher.
And like user mentioned earlier there is an advantage to using a brake: it takes the brunt of the muzzle blast, prolonging the life of the baffles in your can.
If you're worried about noise with a brake attached but no can yet then you can always get a "blast deflector" or "blast shield" Those are devices which fit on your brake and reduce the muzzle blast. They don't work like a real silencer does, but they do make brakes less obnoxious.
It's amazingly loud, especially if you are shooting indoors.
Flashhider, compensator, muzzle brake.
All the same thing.
Interchangeable just different names.
Do you live in California?
Just make sure you have a flashhider and you're fine.
>Interchangeable just different names.
Were you born this stupid, or did you suffer some kind of brain trauma after birth?
When a person too stupid to understand an obvious joke call you stupid
Kek
>indoors
skip brakes or flash hiders, go right to suppressors
Being ironically stupid is still being stupid, user.
The California mention should have been a tip off, special ed.
>>why won't people laugh at my wonderful joke
Try not being stupid.
Muzzle brakes are always better, less recoil.
Also make your barrel as short as possible for even less recoil.
I tried to be a smart ass on the internet. Unfortunately I'm too stupid to pick up sarcasm and ended up looking like a retard.
Are they gone?
>it was just a joke bro im not really stupid bro u thought i was stupid? gotem dumbass
R u okay retard?
Muzzle BRAKE, you retard.
Give me a brake you homophone
Just use a2 lying around until you need qd mount
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Flash hider parts the flash away from the sight picture. Muzzle brake redirects the gas from the muzzle to stabilize recoil while doing the same thing as a flash hider.
