Hypothetically if I wanted a gunsmith to build a 30 carbine and or 300 blackout AK which parts kits should I use and will barrels from a M1 work?

In this picture we have some Israeli cops with magals
The IWI Magal is a Galil chambered in 30 carbine that uses old M1 carbine barrels
As for the 300blk AK, it’s the closest thing we got to 9x39
>magal
sound cool, were they used in combat ?
Police use mostly though a long list of users. It was pulled 2 years after production for complaints.
>A law enforcement carbine variant of the Galil MAR chambered in .30 Carbine. It uses the same 15- and 30-round magazines as the M1 Carbine, as well as a dedicated 27-round magazine incorporating a bolt hold-open device. First issued in 1999, the MAGAL was withdrawn from service in 2001 after numerous complaints of malfunctions.
You need to find a 223 ak parts kit and order a 300 BO barrel or cut your own with a reamer on a blank and lathe to size.
You can use the original 223/556 ak mags if you can find any. I know a guy who did this and it wasnt too hard. Theres not really any posted gas port size info so he just took it to the range with a set of 1/64th bits and opened it up till it worked right.
Should I use a Galil for the parts?
Because that’s the only 223 AK parts I can find
fuck, sounded pretty cool on paper
Because 300 BLK was derived from 5.56x45 and was specifically designed to have the same length and taper as its parent cartridge, generally all that's required to convert a .223/5.56 firearm to .300 BLK is a barrel swap. Someone on the files was actually selling a .300 BLK AK just a few days ago. A good starting point would be a SLR-106 rifle or a Galil (ACE or otherwise). A Galil might be the wisest option since it has the most cheap and available magazines of any 5.56 AK-pattern in the US, doubly so for the ACE since it takes AR15 mags.
As for .30 Carbine, good luck. Unless you can source a Magal parts kit (never seen one in the US) you will have to do a lot from scratch, starting with figuring out the technical data for making an AK run .30 carbine. You would need to fabricate a one-off bolt, barrel, and magazine well attachment at the very least, and you'd need to spend some time tuning the recoil spring and gas system to make it run well. It would be cool, but it would be a lot of money to spend just to make the AK shoot a pretty unremarkable cartridge.
Fuck all this gay hard shit and just buy and rebarrel a .308 VEPR to .458.
Also, wouldn't it just be ten times easier to handload 7.62x39 to be really heavy and slow and use an adjustable gasblock? You could probably outperform .300blk.
Don't even need to hand load. Brown bear 198 grain 7.62x39 subsonic is on the market right now for all your suppressing needs. Adjustable gas is the key though.
A 300blk AK is the closest thing we’ll get to an AK9, my friend made one with a Galil parts kit
The 30 carbine is just because I thought it’d be funny
But it would just be heavy .30cal which is basically what you already have in 7.62x39.
Ten pounds is heavy for women and children
You are right about the 30carbine AK being pointless but you should start lifting weights
Heavy in terms of projectile weight, troglodyte.
there was some guy on akfiles that had a 300blk AK. Kinda made me scratch my head as to why, but whatever works for him.
I
Guess
You'd say,
What can make me feel this way?
Magal (Magal)
Talkin' bout Magal.

For the 30 carbine bolt you can use a 223/5.56 bolt without any trouble.
Really? The case head of the .223 is quite a bit larger than .30 carbine
It is a bit larger, but not by much. As long as it still engages the extractor and ejector reliably it works fine. As an example olympic arms used to make a 30 carbine ar that used a standard 5.56 bolt
All this galil talk has me horny to get my 50 round mag running right. Is there any source for new springs? Right now I've got a stretched AR 40 round spring in it that's a little better than the old worn out one, but maybe a 45 round 5.45 mag spring would be good? I really don't want to wind my own. Any ideas?
Interesting. I knew about the OA .30 Carbine AR15s but didn't know they used a standard 5.56 bolt.
Galil mags are supposed to be able to use STANAG springs and followers. So in theory any spring which works in an AR mags should work for your Galil mag. Maybe a Magpul 40 rounder spring will work? Check out Wolff extra power springs, they might have something that works.
You know I've never looked at the follower to see if the legs are bent, maybe the spring it's got is alright and a magpul will get it feeding the last 5 or so rounds 100%. Thx nerd
.30 carbine was an obsolete round the day it was created
israelis are cheap jews and are recycling useless crap.
