Aesthetic as hell, and a aircrafts worst nightmare, they were badass, except2 the two that got absolutely wrecked at guadalcanal.
>also not posting the even further revised for AA oakland class.

You were broken in Navyfield

What scale are these?

Unlike the actual Atlanta and the actual Oakland, these ships are not nigger-infested shitholes.

Have you seen the navy lately, user?

More like USS Atlantis
ayylmao

Beat me to it.

Roadside sale in Williams, AZ, life long collector and all I had cash for on this impulse buy! Talked him down for the package deal. Iirc, he also had the USS Constitution (tall ship) in wood, on a different scale.

“Machine gun cruiser” said the IJN for the rapid rate of fire

Anyone else cry at night because the US decided to scrap 99% of cruisers but keep endless fletchers as museum ships.

Man, I tried to pick this up again after a few years of inactivity, and alas my account is long gone ;-;

Not at all, I'm more sad that the most storied ship of the pacific war, Enterprise was not saved and scrapped. At least destroyers are the unsung heroes of the fleet and had long and active careers after the war with the FRAM upgrades and got some preservation.
Side Note: I like me some BBs, especially all the late LNT types and the Iowas but damn, did we have to preserve damn near all of them?

The bigger the ship, the infinitely more expensive it is to preserve.

>these ships are not nigger-infested shitholes.
t. guy who's not a sailor

At least Enterprise went out the way many of her sister carriers did. I think Halsey said he was glad she was scrapped, he didn't want to see a bunch of disgusting tourists spitting on the deck and leaving gum on the walls, something to that effect.

It was very unique and had a comfy feeling when playing it. Something WoWS hasn't been able to replicate.

The ports, ship models in port. Being able to switch guns out and change them to different variations was neat. Shame it was made by greedy gooks.

High elevation turrets

Against aircraft and missiles how effective would 127mm with proximity fuse spam be if they had kept these around until modern radar was around?

Not fast enough, unfortunately. They do not have the range to engage modern aircraft or missiles effectively. CIWS are only effective within a couple of miles. While the 127 can fire further, its ability to hit near a missile at multiple miles away is debatable.

I personally don't think it would be effective at stopping missiles, let alone aircraft.

Shes sure more beautiful than the city she was named after

That was the USS Helena

She wasn't any more useless than the rest of her fleet.

better than the actual atlanta

The lack of post WW2 coordination in museum ships is heartbreaking.

Every day I wake up wishing I could walk around museum ship Warspite.

For me it isn't just the Warspite but also Vanguard, would have been nice to see the insides of the last BB made.

Atlanta's filled with niggers

weren't nigger given minial tasks that a child couldn't fuck up in those days?

Is there any footage of atlanta/oakland engaging aircraft?

She was really good in Task Force 1942 as well

burn, you fucking nip DDs, burn

The 2 atlanta's that engaged other ships both were defeated, by jap destroyers.

What a weird thing to think about when you wake up.

She looks yare, nice choice OP.

main guns on modern ships, while intended for shore barrage are still used in an air defence role. Its not a high pk weapon but if you've got a tool to defend yourself and you dont try and use it you're a retard. That said you're correct, its only a last ditch when SAM missiles fail you.

Does nip ships burn as well as nip planes?

The shells are moving at about mach 3. Early ship SAMs were a total failure in the falklands. Modern ones are far better but magazine depth remains limited, modern ships have less than 100 SAMs, gun cruisers had thousands of rounds.

IIRC their damage control was bad (eg. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_aircraft_carrier_Taihō#Fate), so probably.
