Is 25 too old to join the Navy?
Yeah.
No it isn’t
/thread
No, but you shouldn't. I'm 26 and considered enlisting.
But then I realized there was more dignity in bussing tables than getting screamed at by 20 year old superiors.
Lol fuck that. I much rather join the military and learn a sensible trade than being a loser busboy
Depends on what you want out of it, but generally, 25 isn’t too old to enlist in a non-infantry job in the military.
Yes I’m looking to go in as a CTN or CTR for four years. I heard they make good money in the civilian world
Nah. We had a dude in his 30's in my bootcamp division. My best friend was 26 when we went to bootcamp. Fuckit man.
>4 years
jokes on you those contracts are at least 5 years, I think both are 6 atm
>there was more dignity in bussing tables than getting screamed at by 20 year old superiors.
great as long as you're actively working not to do that
or you can be like my dad and many boomers like him who do this and complain about their 30 year old boss who makes more than they do after 50 years of working
Joined at 29, It was a total melting pot of people from 17-30+.
Fuck it more time for me to save money and live rent free
That's honestly a very good attitude and the jobs are good jobs.
CTN imo is a golden rate for the time being, unless you really want to sail a lot. They can go all 6 years without going underway and most do.
No, definitely not. Especially true if you already have a college degree.
>not wanting to sail the 7 seas
I'm 34 and my supervisor is a 22 year old with no experience who got the position because he started 2 weeks before the another dude in the department who is 33 (who actually has close to 10 year experience in the field). I've been considering joining some branch of the military because I'm already fine with the age thing.
You're never too old, OP.
25 is still a kid.
Knew a dude who was 36 in Marine Corp boot camp, and he managed to get through just fine, but he needed a waiver.
If anything, it gives you a leg up on maturity and life experience, possibly allowing you to go up in rank faster than your younger peers.
There was a dude from Africa who was 38. Not sure what he's up to now, didn't pass his swim in time to graduate with us.
I've been thinking about going back and I'm 26. I went to Marine boot camp in SD with a dude who was 28.
Don’t they teach you/help you with swimming in basic if you can’t swim?
t. I leave to basic in February and am not a great swimmer
>possibly allowing you to go up in rank faster than your younger peers.
everything else was fine but this? no. forget about it.
For a start, the marine PFT/CFT is easier as a young guy. It's a bit convoluted but an 18 year old has a much easier test than a 30 year old. The corps really digs into the "old man strength" bit without expecting you to slow down on the 3 mile run all that much until you're about 50.
You're not going to promote faster because of muh maturity. Your nco will likely try to help you out by giving good pros/cons but that's about it.
idk about anyone else but in the marines they do teach you and you really just need to be able to float to "pass". but we dropped a guy for not being able to swim and a (black) fella i knew got sent home over it because he couldnt swim
In Navy you can volunteer yourself for lessons at the pool during Week 2. If you continue to need lessons you have until week 7 to pass or you get set back. Once you're on the life raft you pass.
But you have at least 4 months to learn to swim, just hit the pool on weekends and get wet. At the very least, learn to step off the diving board, swim 50 meters, and be comfortable underwater.
You're always gonna have some douchebag yelling at you. Which is more noble, being in the military or working for some corporate chain restaurant?
You could just join the regular-ass trades and make more money.
this reminds me that the week before swim week in bootcamp the senior DI came out and had all of the black people step out and he told everyone who couldn't swim to raise their hands and they all raised their hands and no one else did
"Yeah that's what I thought, don't worry you get extra practice."
Then he had them do breathing exercises to help them understand how to float. One of them had to do some extra swim qual time but they did all make it.
>military
>noble
Wew. It's selling your labor to kill brown people on the far side of the planet. Don't dress it up as anything other than that.
Is accurate.
I did time in, learned how to run a platoon of light infantry reasonably well, then got out and went into brewing.
I should have just went into brewing.
Shooting Muslims is always worth it. Deus vult.
Nah I rather have the military uniform and full benefits. Plus milfs and bitches in their early 20s love military dudes
You mean slags and single moms. Enjoy herpes.
It's never too late to die for Israel
They love the same things all women do. If you can't get laid easy now, the military will NOT be enough to unfuck you.
I get enough poon now. I just feel like younger bitches will be easier to manipulate because they think you’ll want to marry and give them your benefits like the usual military meme
None of the ones worth fuckign want ANY of that.
They want to fuck moderately older, more established men who will dick them down properly and occasionally feed them while not bothering them with stupid shit.
For the vast majority of women looking to fuck, marriage and benefits from their preferred source of cock qualify as drama and thus, stupid shit.
Hopefully at 25 your smart enough to take full advantage of all the benefits military service can provide.
Learn a trade and get as much free education as you can. Also traveling on uncle sam’s dime is nice to!
You probably have a bachelor's degree so just enlist, go to ocs and become officer that way
Just remember: No hymen, no diamond.
I’m pretty sure the next bugaloo will be for Saudi oil.
Which we don’t really use.
>It's selling your labor to kill brown people on the far side of the planet
thats based.
the US military is less "deus vult" and more "mazel tov".
Yeah, but dead saracens are still dead saracens.
wat in the fuck
>you probably have a bachelor's
>so just enlist
>then commission
why is this advice so common on this board? it's retarded.
If you have a degree and want to commission, don't enlist at all. Commission.
When you graduate a recruiter begs college grads to join offering enticing bonuses however civillans market paid better when ingot out of college
Enjoy the toothbrush in the ass
