I actually only have one pair, the rest of my handsurp is Cold War. I suppose my Slav Mauser and M57 COULD be a pair.

I need more surp pistols.

Belated second item post.

Well lads, this is it. I've won another rifle, so now once I get them all in I'll have one from every* country involved in WW2.

Attached: AST - No. 1 Mk III.jpg (3831x963, 2.06M)

Well done my friend. Now buy more.

Attached: 20190915_133932-2016x1512.jpg (2016x1512, 699K)

The ones I need to replace are mostly pretty rare (pic related), so my buying is going to drop considerably off for a bit.

Just bought my first surp! 1916 Spanish Mauser carbine for $280, anything I should know about it or mausers in general?

You should get that out of the stock and examine it. If it's one of the Samco ones it might have been sitting in a non-climate controlled warehouse in Florida for 3 decades.

I'm completely new to military surplus and I've been having a hankering for a Lee Enfield and an Arisaka.
What are fair prices for them these days? I'm not looking for collection guns and I want to shoot them so dings and scratches don't matter to me. As long as they're not rusty, function well, and shoot straight out to 75-100 yards I'm happy.

uh ok
heres my vietcong loadout

Pretty good, reminds me of my boogaloo loadout

Any that isn't totally beat to shit?

$350 for a Lee-Enfield, $250 for an Arisaka. That will require a little haggling most likely, but not too much.

Attached: JAP - Type 99 Last Ditch.jpg (3779x777, 2.03M)

7mm or 7.62? What kind of Crest?

7.92, and I can’t seem to find a crest, idk if I’m looking at where it should be

Attached: 47693853-7444-4122-B670-288BD53F9FBC.jpg (4032x3024, 1.76M)

Shouldn't be 7.92. And the Crest has been scrubbed

A lot of them got scrubbed.

Attached: SPA - 1916 Short Rifle - Crest.jpg (1465x3269, 1.88M)

Nice, thanks user.

Also, it's been refinished

Where are the sandals?

No worries. Keep in mind there's a LOT of autistic detail on both of those, so if you decide you want something specific, like a Type 99 long rifle with a crest, or a Siamese marked Lee-Enfield, then you're gonna have to pay a LOT more, but if you're just cruising Armslist and gun shows then you should be able to find something for those prices.

Attached: CAN - No. 4 Mk 1 star.jpg (2560x1440, 1.05M)

Fug, so 7.92 is the wrong caliber?

Yes. Unless you have some fucking rare example, there were no 7.92x57 1916 mausers. They're either 7x57 or 7.62x51

Why do you think it's 7.92?

Ok thanks, I’m a complete fuckin tard and you just saved me from using the wrong ammo

I just assumed most mausers were, there was no markings either so I had no idea, the guy behind the counter didn’t say anything so idk

No. Mausers come I'm a variety of different cartridges. Never assume. Yours is either in 7mm mauser or 7.62 nato. Look at the side area pictured here

Attached: 20190919_141756.jpg (4032x3024, 3.98M)

Also scrubbed off, fuck me

Does the serial number start with "OT"?

If it has the hole there, like it looks like it does, it's probably 7.62. Easy to test. Take any .308 cartridge and do the muzzle test

>If it has the hole there, like it looks like it does, it's probably 7.62.
The gas escape vent in the receiver ring is not a reliable indicator of conversion. It is present on my 1923-dated Model 1893 long rifle still in 7x57mm.

Attached: Spanish1893_8-18-2016_G.jpg (1024x768, 641K)

Good point. It's something to look for though. He should just check the muzzle

I don’t have any .308, this is kinda new to me considering I don’t own anything besides a .22 and 12 gauge, these help at all?

Forgot to post that I figured it out, it’s 7mm Mauser, thank you anons for not hating me for my autism, I’m new to milsurp but I appreciate all of the help

Does this count as surplus? Its a 38/42 Beretta. Seems to be in pretty good condition. Ive never fired because mags are $75-100.

$15k? Really? This was gramp's, had no idea this was worth more than maybe a grand...

Wow.

Why is there two triggers? Set trigger or one for each fire mode?

Depends if it's registered or not.

Also if its full auto and isnt registered then STFU about it

All I got that kinda pairs is my type 99 and this Spanish Smith and Wesson copy (a lot of Japanese officers and soldiers privately bought Spanish sidearms)

>sniper rifle
It's a 49/56 with a scope. It's either in 7.5 Frog and requires throwing dollar bills down range, or it's in 308 and jams constantly unless you got the 1% of correctly converted guns that don't jam.

Picking up a Gewehr 88 tomorrow as soon as I sell this Carcano. I hope to God it has Irish markings

My based local shop has 7.5 surplus for 50cpr

I knew you'd show up. Fuck that's hot. I'm so fucking jealous. I'm gonna drop good money on a swiss luger to go with my k31 if my new job works out. I don't see many swiss lugers here

I'd kinda like to get a P210.

Enjoy your hard primers murdering the firing pin and dealing with corrosive ammo.

Alright, this is a stupid question, but I have to ask it. How do you properly oil your guns? I have two problems:
1. When I apply oil and then wipe off the excess, I feel like I'm removing the oil all together.
2. Oil makes wood dark and soft, so how am I supposed to oil a rifle that is bedded in and completely surrounded by wood?

Attached: 1563318729051.jpg (1024x762, 181K)

10000/1 against

Please no I'm a feinboo

The rifle in general? The French wanted a semi auto rifle. WWII started and development was delayed. After the war they came out with the MAS 49 (basically a semi auto MAS 36 with detectable 10 round magazine). In 56 they made the MAS 49/56, which has less wood, a grenade launcher, and a detachable blade bayonet instead of a integrated rod bayonet. It should be chambered in 7.5 French, Century Arms did some 7.62 NATO conversions but rumor is they are by rifle hit or miss functionally. As far as Sniper ALL MAS 49's and MAS 49/56's have a dove tail mount area for adding a scope. Its a DI action.

Attached: MAS 49 56 2.0.jpg (2573x709, 525K)

Start with the rifle removed from the stock, take a clean rag and spread a small drop of oil very thinly on the areas where the metal touches wood. Very little here. Very little. Put the wood on then don't fucking take it off. On exposed metal, as long as it's not runny it's good. Avoid getting oil on the wood. If it's dark and soft, you've already really fucked up

> I'm gonna drop good money on a swiss luger to go with my k31 if my new job works out
Cool - all the best then cos I wanna see pics

They're lovely guns but they're not flawless. I do adore mine though

Sorry user it would be extremely rare an most of the Gew88s are UV marked
Vetterlis are UVF/UPG or citizen army (clenched fist)
Mannlichers are mainly or entirely UVF
Sniders and some martinis or enfield muskets and some percussion single shots are shamrock marked, rising sun fenian guns are very rare but you may see it on a snider or captured RIC carbine (martini enfield). If you want the most widely known 1916 gun its a Mauser 71 (not mauser 71/84). Gras, Lee Enfields, 22s, Shotguns, revolvers, mauser 98s etc may have no markings at all Your odds of any of these are very slim indeed. A 1916 mauser 71 would cost you 10000+

Get some cotton rags Cut them into six inch squares. Now put a couple of drops of mineral oil on each one and stick them in a zip lock bag, add another couple of drops for luck. Leave the bag overnight. Take out rag and wipe. You are welcome..

O they also had ross rifles, bizarrely enough captured from the British coastguard (old IRA/IRB). Shotguns and revolvers were very popular as were mauser pistols, pocket automatics, webleys, bulldog 320s etc etc

linen if you are post and ocd

>posh

That one is in 7.5. You can tell by the stock.

Attached: MAS_4956Handguards.jpg (626x742, 76K)

There's no such thing as a flawless gun.

Attached: POL - P64 CZAK.jpg (1299x1017, 1014K)

BTW they are all Enbloc clip S marked not mauser clip converted (no cit out on top front of chamber). Surviving ones typically are full of grease and have had the firing pin spring cut)

There were maybe 400,000 made. 5000-10000 of those made it to Ireland and the number that survived 100 years including the civil war and troubles are vanishingly small.

Its ot a sniper rifle user. The FR1 was introduce in 1966 and is a different gun. Fusil modèle FR-G2, The FR2 is current (nice gun, thermal sleeved barrel), Mas36s and a variety of other bolts preceded the FR1. This is a nice gun maybe but it was never a sniper rifle although they were used with early nightvision particularly in jungle warfare.

We will see tomorrow I won't keep my hope up. I'll post her anyways

Stupid needing an AK preventing me from rare Berthiers....

Mail and packages are delivered during working hours usually. As such, dropping a gun off like its a chinese takeout menu is a no-no. Therefore one must go la office de postal.

Feels good man.

I've seen you post your collection on /msg/ for some time, and you've answered some of my questions before. Do you think you could answer this one: I'm particularly interested in the second part, about oiling rifles without messing up the stock. Given the impressiveness of your collection, I hold your opinion in higher regard than most anons.

Why does this thing have 2 triggers?

Does anyone here reload for 7.62x38r? I've fucked around with it on and off over the years and haven't had much luck with producing a decent power load. It's really just an exercise in how creative I can be to get something to fucking work.
>no load data, resort to trimming the cases to the same length as .32 S&W long due to the similar chamber pressure in order to use that load data
>can't seat bullets straight into the case because the expander Lee includes in the die set doesn't expand the case enough, use expander from my 7.62x25mm set
>cases don't fit in the cylinder after the bullets are seated, need to run cases through the sizing die again after seating the bullets
>due to final case sizing bullets now end up undersized and just ride on the lands of the rifling, fixed by seating bullets mostly out of the case so that they function like heeled bullets
Currently I'm achieving about 450 FPS with a 77 grain bullet which I'm just going to blame on the massive cylinder gap at this point, but I've also managed gas actual gas seal snakeshot so I have produced something useful.

A very light coat of oil or grease is all you need really. I oil mine once a year after initial purchase, just a drop or two over my fingers and run them over the metal bits. If you see an excess wipe it away. You really don't need very much at all in a proper climate controlled environment.

>Trusting a several hundred/thousand dollar purchase to sit unattended for hours in the elements.
Yeah, I'll pass on that one senpai. That's beyond irresponsible.

Probably semi and full auto.

I don't reload for it, but I did watch this video on the topic.
Maybe it could help you, I'm not sure.

>We will see tomorrow I won't keep my hope up. I'll post her anyways

like Gew88s look forward to seeing it but my guess is Ecuadorian if you are in the US and its S and en bloc but not stripper

What would the history of an Ecuadorian gew88 be?

If you are conserving wax , if you are shooting a wipe wit a linen rag wit a drop of mineral oil

>What would the history of an Ecuadorian gew88 be?

I'd have to check but you can, I think these were rebarreled with narrow Czech barrels., search for "The 88 in Ecuador" they were sold there about 1900-1905, probably via hamburg, they will ave german regimental markings (Irish Gew88s will *not*). They bought more in the 1930s from the Czechs and possibly rebarreled others. These were a *barrower bore* of .3155 and you will have to slug it to find out what bore you have after cleaning. Do not just bung a commercial 8mm mauser round in there

I live in a good neighborhood in small town, but my life experiences gave me a pragmatic sense paranoia. There's no such thing as too secure/too opsec. I like guns to be sent to me signature required. Doesn't hurt that the post office is three blocks from the house.

>1. When I apply oil and then wipe off the excess, I feel like I'm removing the oil all together.
I'm going to default back to my Army days for the definition of "light coat of oil". When you apply oil and wipe off excess set it down for a few minutes. Then put your finger on it, does it leave a finger print in the oil? If not, repeat add oil. Metal is semiporuis by nature. If it doesn't leave a print the metal is dry and sucked in all the oil. For protection you need the oil on the surface where the element's meet the rifle not hiding inside the metal not doing you anything. When you leave a print on the surface the metal is saturated and you have your protective surface coat. Also wipe the print off.
>2. Oil makes wood dark and soft, so how am I supposed to oil a rifle that is bedded in and completely surrounded by wood?
Its not a field I'm well versed in, and its too close to bed time for me to derp my opinion.

Based on your posts I still honestly wonder if you have gone to bed at any time in the past couple years. From your 12:30 am posts on Friday mornings to you 6:00 am posts on Sundays. Do you even sleep?

>2. Oil makes wood dark and soft, so how am I supposed to oil a rifle that is bedded in and completely surrounded by wood?
Mineral oil or non gunstock oils will, but linseed oil,ect will make the stock harder once it cures/hardens up

Because you touch yourself at night.
