Is mineral oil the ultimate gun lubricant/protectant?

Again with this shit thread?

It has a low smoke point

If you gun gets hot enough to set mineral oil on fire, it will be too hot to hold.

I said smoke, not ignite. It will produce smoke in one or two fast mags

The smoke is probably from the gunpowder, not the lubricant. If your gun is hot enough to smoke oil, it will give your hand third degree burns.

Put that in the freezer overnight and you'll see why you don't want it on guns.

Oil doesn't freeze at normal freezer temperatures.

Mineral oil is a poor lubricant.
See the yellow color in 3-in-1 oil, motor oil, etc? That's the sulfur compounds that provide good lubrication when you don't have a hydrodynamic film.

have you ever shot a gun in your life

Yes.

OK, go ahead and prove me wrong. Most USP white oils freeze around

Not even gonna ask.

it makes you poops better

Your ass will be like the Exxon Valdez.

Do you grasp your firearm by the slide? You've got other problems besides heat

It's pretty good for when you don't have any J-Lube

>no wear protection
>no rust protection
>very low flash point
>burns into sticky goop

Source please.

You were right. I was wrong. I put a bowl of mineral oil in the freezer, and it turned into jelly.

It's good for knife and blade maintenance because of the factors you listed, but not great for guns on its own.

It's commonly sold as a laxative.

It's because he read the label in OP's image and saw that it is advertised as having no flavour, guys. Come on. Obviously user isn't so retarded to not even do something basic like that.

>Not sucking off your gun parts
Pleb

Why don't people use moly grease? Or grease in general? I always hear of oil and stuff but never grease.

Grease is just a soap that absorbs oil.
