.22lr

Can we talk .22 lr bullets, rifles, their potential to seriously fuck someone's day up.

I have a marlin model 60 and I wish I got the Ruger 10/22

Has any one been shot on accident by a .22lr?

I live in a new York suburb so I'm limited to shooting at expensive ranges

Listen you made the right choice.
I spent 200 dollars over my budget to get a tacticool takedown 10/22 instead of a Marlin.

It was a waste of money for such a tame caliber.
I'm already saving up for a new range toy cause the allure of plinking has died and now I want something that can actually protect me in less than 3 shots.

Also good luck finding any fun in your police state.

.22 has the same energy as a very powerful medieval bow. It will penitrate deep enough to kill but because it's small it won't case the person to bleed out in most cases.

But yeah, if you were ever shot by an air rifle which has 1/15 th of the power you will see how "your shit is fucked" due to pain. Armchair commandos think that everyone is hopped up on bath salts and won't crumble from the pain of having a .22 projectile lodged in his body

The hollow point cci velocitors are some serious bullets. While it won't kill a fully grown grizzly bear, a few shots into him and I'm thinking he's running away. In the unlikely event of him continuing to charge you better hope for an eye shot or head shot.

My only carry piece is a Browning Buckmark loaded with CCI Stingers, how fucked am I?

Idiot fuddlore.

.22 has the most holy of all fudd powers: the ability to bounce around inside your skull for more damage.

>.22 has the same energy as a very powerful medieval bow.
They used to have longbows well above 120 lbs and 30" draw back then, these things penetrated the best plate armor at the time or at least 4" of oak from a distance of 200-300 yards.
>It will penitrate deep enough to kill but because it's small it won't case the person to bleed out in most cases.
Correct, unless you hit a major blod vessel or other sensitive tissue.
>But yeah, if you were ever shot by an air rifle which has 1/15 th of the power you will see how "your shit is fucked" due to pain. Armchair commandos think that everyone is hopped up on bath salts and won't crumble from the pain of having a .22 projectile lodged in his body
That depends a lot on the drugs and where the target is hit, but that's not specific to .22lr.

If all I had was a 22lr and I was wanting to "seriously fuck someones day up", I would load it with CCI Velocitors and shoot center mass.

that persons comment is so retarded I dont know why you even responded to it.

>Idiot fuddlore.

Pain stoppage isn't a fuddlore fag. 80% of people are stopped when they are hurt. Of course it's not worth risking being poorly armed and having to deal with the 20% but we should not pretend that pain does nothing.

>that persons comment is so retarded I dont know why you even responded to it.

What's retarded about it? I spoke to a person who was shot in the head with a very weak air rifle and it gave him a headache powerful enough to have him throw himself on the ground and roll in pain.

Ouch

The only reason .22lr is memed about not being deadly is because bigger calibers exist and not all .22lr is the same
Will an aguila super colibri bring someone down? No.
Will a cci stinger bring someone down? Yes
A triple tap to the chest will bring down even the biggest nigger thats ODing on PCP

I'm a nogunz and I'm worried if I bought something fun my parents would red flag me. I'm thinking about starting about with a .22 just to show my mom that guns aren't that scary. What's a good .22 that's not a waste of money for when I upgrade?

>inb4 underaged
I'm 20 and 21 is the minimum age to even register for a firearm in my state.

>wanting to kill someone with a 22
>target survives with the bullet in his skull for the rest of his life (or other various reasons)
>wanting to have fun with .22
>accident happens
>somemone fucking dies
>is even on the news
That's basically what that caliber is capable of.

Ruger 10/22 or Mark IV would generally be what people say from my experience, maybe a lever or bolt action

The SW 15-22 too though the looks of an AR alone might be scary for an antigun due to all the media

What do you think about the winchester JHP copperheads ?

The ruger 10/22 is overrated, mine started jamming all of a sudden because of failure to eject and after cleaning it and replacing a few parts it still jams.
It also bites bullets that have higher recoil before they jump all the way up in the mag almost breaking the bullet in half right in the middle.

This same thinf happened to me
Dumped ~500 rounds one weekend with less than 10 total ejection failures
Next weekend (after routine cleaning) had failures almost every single mag

Did you solve that? I'm considering selling it but it doesn't sit well with me to lie to some poor chap about reliability.

That's funny I have a ruger 10/22 and am looking for a marlin 60 but not looking to sell the 10/22.

I have had my 10/22 for 12 years. No problems however many thousands of rounds I put through it. I use ruger brand magazines if it makes a difference.

I haven't tried going back to the 10 round drums, I'll try those if I can find mine.
