>REEEEEELOADING GEN
Just picked up 1k 55gr SinterFire projectiles for a song. They are frangible bullets made of compressed copper and tin powder. Anyone have any experience with them? Can I use them for anything other than shooting steel?
/RLG/
varmints?
Anybody got a source on component bullets and load data for that 38sp +p 130gr hst?
My friends and I were gonna go ham and buy a progressive loader and all the widgets, but they are getting cold feet and 45-70 and .308 is expensive would you guys recommend getting a Lee classic kit for each in the meantime? Any suggested extras that would come in handy for both presses and the classic kits?
Also wondering about these frangibles, I understand that theyre compressed powdered metals but do they still retain itself when fired into jug of water or into meat?
Classics are alright, but I'd go with the lock n' load for ease of use. They have a twist lock system for dies, so you can set them and swap them out much faster without having to worry about resetting them each time
Heh what type of rounds are those? Pen-15?
They are for plinking, I don't know if they have any increased effect on a deer or something. Give it a try?
Supposedly they only break apart if they hit something harder than themselves. I reckon they act like FMJ with a decent meplat otherwise. I can hardly find anything about them anywhere.
SinterFire goes back and forth hinting they used them while hunting with great results but then they should ONLY be used for training purposes but then that they *might*wink-wink* be a great tactical and HD round but then they are all like THEY ARE ONLY FOR SHOOTING STEEL
heh
P33-N0R mk W3N/0R bullets ::DDDD
seems cool. Id heard of these but never bothered to look at what they actually do
That’s actually a pretty bad ass video
They're intended for shooting steel or for use in a shoothouse, but of you shot a burglar or home invader with one the surgeon is gonna be sooooo pissed at you.
The hallmark of a good bullet is how much air it will let into the bad guy.
Will this let a whole lot of air in?
The cavitation is like any comparable round of the same caliber, but there will be a shitload of tiny pieces of metal in the bad guy instead of just a few.
This guy i know named goggles does.
Bullshit
All Google gives me is where to buy loaded ammo.
Just shot my first reloads.
M855 pulled bullets
22.5grains of WC846.
50yards
Incredibly impressed.
I was having a terrible time during powder measuring since it was so humid it would clump in the powder dropper.
GJ user
What gun are you using?
Are you the hot air baloon X32 guy?
Pic related,
Sad!
223 wylde barreled ar15.
I had just acquired a bipod this week as well.
I put a cmc 2stage trigger on layaway at the local pawn, because the milspec trigger in my 80% lower is pretty rough.
Is there not a way to buy the HST bullets unloaded?
sorry for the dumb question, I'm new here. I keep seeing HST and didn't know why.
Yes, but I'm looking for the special snubby 38 bullets that have a bigger hollow point. I haven't seen that they're for sale anywhere.
Ahh damn, looks like the 124gr 9mm hst they had for 8cpp is gone. Glad I got 500 before they went away.
Heres a mixed lot. Take an additional 30% off with code "9mm"
>124gr 9mm hst
I ganked 1500 :)
They just put up a fresh sale. Think I’m gunna grab 8lbs of that w846 powder and maybe some RFN brass
>I was having a terrible time during powder measuring since it was so humid it would clump in the powder dropper.
Was it the first time using the powder dropper? It likely was static not humidity. Once you've run a whole fill of powder it'll coat it in carbon and it'll stop.
Whatever gets you 825 fps is the best, faster then that and the petals bend back
What's your political orientation?
What handgun are you loading these for?
>Lolbertatian, fags with mg42s defending their poppy fields 2020.
>Ruger lcrx 357 2"
I've been Googling all day and I can't track down any leads on the huge cavity boolits.
You really dont want these things dropping below 800 fps though. So load them up to 900-950 fps if you think you might use em at a target 50+ feet away.
I love how these are basically a futuristic version of the old reverse loaded wadcutter.
>give lolbergtarian a source for premium self defence bullets
>he shoots me when I try to keep homos from chopping my sons dick off
I'm sorry user. Thank you for answering honestly.
Fuck you then. Btw I'm a big fan of lady dick, so they're not going to be cutting anything off on my watch.
Armor piercing ammunition laws only specify DEPLETED uranium. So we can technically use the undepleted stuff...
Oh thanks, yea first time. Think I'll do a batch of 30 this week now that I know I didn't fuck up.
Heckin nice. Yea I bought the 8# as well.
Someone recommended titegroup for my pistol rounds.
Is 12 Ga. loading allowed?
Well obviously
No
this user here is totally right the lock n load system is much easier for loading dyes you can stockpile the locking bushings and put one in every dye that way you only have to minimally adjust to set your height. The one down side to the lock n load is the lock n load AP. imo unless you plan on dumping the money to make it fully progressive its just a waste. Youll spend just as much time adjusting youe shell plate so it doesnt misalign and squash your bass than you would swapping dyes out on a single stage.
I just wanted something to hold me over, until my group gets the money together to get a gucchi Dillon press. As I said 45-70 is way too expensive to buy it in boxes with he amount I want to shoot. I bought in bulk once to get all the brass I will probably ever need in the near future.
Hell yeah
I'm thinking of getting some 110gr .308 frangibles. Do these have a maximum velocity? I'm also wondering why they don't get destroyed on firing since online people say not to crimp them or else you might shatter the bullets.
Where'd you get the brass?
The droppers have oil preservant in them from the factory. Before you use it the first time, you're supposed to open them up and degrease them, then dry thoroughly.
Just bought 250 45-70 cartridges, once I shoot through them I intend to reload the ammo. That brass will last for a ton of reloads since it's straight wall.
Got my first reloading handbook yesterday. looking to start buying the equipment. what are some other recommended manufacturers? i know RCBS is shilled by gun gramps. how does lee stand up next to its competitors?
Also i bought Lymans 50th edition and really like they layout but im a bit dissapointed it didnt have somenof the foreign milsurp data i was hoping it did. any good source for odd and old surp recipes?
That's using the ol' noodle!
I have a bunch of Lee gear including a a Classic press, the little C frame one and a Load Master I picked up from an estate sale. It all seems to be ok for anything short of commercial use.
K some of my loadings then. I am a yuropoor and here 12 gauge handloads are quite a thing, there's a whole industry behind.
The most I load are pic related, 1 oz. sabot slug for sport shooting, as they are accurate and clean as fuck being inside a plastic cup all the time riding the bore.
Very aesthetic
How do u roll crimp?
I have a dedicated crimper that is the strange compact device in pic related (my small loading setup).
Usually people here just use a press drill to do the crimp but after making my reloading bench, I bought a proper machine, because it is far more compact and clean than a press drill.
Very nice set up.
Do any weird loads? Like that YouTuber who shoots bubble gum and shit.
Well i did a lot of loads for fun but never with things that shouldn't go into a shotgun, pic somehow related.
I've tried a lot of shotgun slugs, but the "worst" I made was using some hardened steel ball bearings "barrels" as slugs.
They passed 1/4" steel like butter but I've stopped after a couple nasty ricochets.
Did you know that most of the shotgun loads can be done using handgun powders? For example, 9mm powder is excellent for 1 oz. slugs. Obviously you have to use like, 5X the charge but the loads are proper.
How do tumble lubed cast bullets right out of the mold compare to sized and lubed cast bullets? All I've really heard is "tumble lubed bullets aren't as good" without any detailed description as to why and "tumble lubed bullets work just fine" from people who use tumble lubed bullets.
You should probably try harder to convince them to buy now. You can probably find an XL 650 for relatively cheap right now because the 750 was just released. If you can't convince them just get the cheapest single stage you can find and some quick change bushings.
You know how in the new Rambo movie he handloads magnesium shards into shotguns shells to set people on fire?
What if you made something resembling a wax slug with those, would that extend the range?
Im thinking about reloading 8mm, any of you guys have an favorite loadings for it? Any advice i should be aware of?
My current 8x57mm plinking load is a PPU 198gr FMJBT projectile over 44.3gr of IMR-4064 with no crimp. It chronographed around 2300fps out of my K98k and isn't bad on accuracy. Though, I'm going to refine it a bit with crimping and try to dial accuracy up.
